Abstract

PURPOSE:To completely finish refilling operation of an ink from an ink reservoir to a recording head via an ink passage by indicating where a process which is being performed is positioned among the whole of the refilling operation. CONSTITUTION:A display panel 8 is provided in an upper part of a recording apparatus. The display panel 8 is constituted of an LCD, LED or the like. The total time required for filling the ink is counted down from the start of the refilling operation when the refilling operation is conducted, and 0 is indicated at the end of the refilling operation. In place of counting down the time, the remaining time (a) or the elapsed time may be counted down and indicated by a percentage to the total time. Both the total time necessary for the refilling operation and the consumed time so far may be indicated in the panel in terms of sec (b).

As shown in FIG. 6, an inkjet recording apparatus includes a recording head 1 that discharges ink '445 toward recording paper 4, an ink storage section 3, and a path 2 that supplies ink from the ink storage section to the recording head. When recording for the first time or when using after transportation, it is necessary to fill the recording head 1 with ink 6 from the ink reservoir 3 through the ink path 2, but this operation completely discharges air bubbles in the ink path. This is essential for stable printing. In this operation, a pump means (not shown) installed in the recording device is operated for a long time to discharge air bubbles, or the recording device is forced into a standby state for a certain period of time in order to dissolve the air bubbles into the ink. A method is used to stop the operation. Since the series of operations for this purpose takes a long time, means are provided to notify the user that the operations are in progress.

However, in the conventional method, when the ink suction operation is not performed and the ink suction operation is stopped in order to dissolve air bubbles in the ink path into the ink, the operator may assume that the ink filling operation has finished, and the ink filling operation may be completed before the operation is completed. Start printing or
If printing cannot be started, it is assumed to be an error condition, and the power is turned off for the purpose of resetting and printing is started after restarting, which prevents air bubbles from being completely ejected, causing a decline in recording quality.

[Means for Solving the Problems] An inkjet recording apparatus of the present invention includes a recording head, an ink storage section, and an ink path that supplies ink from the ink storage section to the recording head. When filling with ink from the reservoir through the ink path, the apparatus is characterized by having a display means for indicating where an ongoing operation is located with respect to the entire filling operation.

When stopping the operation of the recording device's pump during ink filling for the purpose described above, in order to let the operator know that this operation is part of a series of operations, it is necessary to make sure that the series of operations continues even when the ink is stopped. It is only necessary to make it known that the stopping action is part of a series of actions, so it is possible to know where in the series of actions the current action is located in the whole set of actions. All you have to do is show.

During the ink filling operation, the total time required for filling is counted down from the start of the operation, and O is displayed at the end of the operation. Or instead of counting down the time, count down the percentage of time remaining relative to the total time. Alternatively, the percentage of the time that has already passed with respect to the total time is displayed, or the total time required is displayed on the panel section as shown in FIG. Note that characters other than the time may also be displayed on an LCD or the like, and the contents are not limited.

On the other hand, instead of the time, the percentage or ratio of the required time up to the present to the total time is displayed according to the elapsed state. In this case, instead of showing the ratio of the time required up to the present to the total time, the ratio of the remaining time to the total time may be shown. Also, it would be better if characters could be displayed.
However, the display means are not limited to the above.

As is clear from the above description, according to the inkjet recording apparatus of the present invention, it is possible to determine where the current operation is located during the ink filling operation, or how much time is left until the operation is completed. It is possible to know how much of the ink operation is left in terms of percentages, etc., and there is no need to interrupt the operation midway, so that the ink operation can be completely completed. This ensures stable printing even immediately after the filling operation. Further, the refilling operation can also prevent unnecessary consumption of ink.
