Description
【0001】

[Prior art]
2. Description of the Related Art Conventionally, a label printing apparatus for printing an input desired character string for each label arranged on a label sheet in order to create a heading label or the like is known. When the ink ribbon reaches the end while printing on the label using such a device, the ink ribbon cassette containing the ink ribbon is replaced, and the label is printed again. Things are customary.
[0003]
[Problems to be solved by the invention]
However, in such a label printing apparatus, even when the ink ribbon reaches the end, the printing operation does not stop, and so-called blanking is performed on each label on the label sheet. In addition, since each label affixed on the surface of the label sheet is not peeled off from the label sheet, the label sheet cannot be wound around the roller, and the pressing force and feeding force of the label sheet by the roller are weaker than in a normal printer. Become. As a result, when the ink ribbon cassette is removed in the middle of printing, the label sheet is displaced accordingly, and there is a problem that clean printing cannot be performed even if printing is resumed in that state. In addition, the conventional product may cause the label to be stained due to blanking in the middle of printing, which causes unnecessary waste of the label sheet. In addition, if the ink ribbon runs out while printing multiple labels with different character strings, when printing is resumed after replacing the ink ribbon cassette, the printed label is instructed not to be printed, and the label of the unprinted part is not printed. It was necessary to indicate the print start position.
[0004]
The present invention has been made paying attention to such problems, and its purpose is to grasp the remaining amount of ink ribbon and the amount of ink ribbon consumed for printing before printing. Therefore, it is possible to avoid replacing the ink ribbon cassette in the middle of printing, to prevent empty shots, and to print from the label next to the label in the middle of printing even when the ink ribbon cassette is replaced in the middle of printing. It is another object of the present invention to provide a label printing apparatus capable of minimizing waste of labels and label sheets.
[0005]
[Means for Solving the Problems]
In order to achieve this object, the present invention employs the following configuration.
[0006]
That is, the label printing apparatus of the present invention performs printing using an ink ribbon for each label in which a desired character string is arranged on a label sheet. This label information is identified by the printing unit, the control unit connected to the printing unit via the input / output interface, and label information including the vertical and horizontal dimensions of the label sheet, the vertical and horizontal dimensions of the label, and the vertical and horizontal intervals of the label. And a data storage unit that stores the information in association with the identification code. In things, The control unit functions as an input receiving unit, a printing unit, a printing operation stopping unit, and a label position storage unit, and the input receiving unit is configured to input a desired character string, character size, font, and number of printed sheets. And the like, and the designation of an identification code corresponding to the label sheet to be used are received, and the character string information is paired with the designated identification code and accumulated in the data storage unit, and the print The means receives a pair of character string information and an identification code from the data storage unit, receives label information stored in association with the identification code, and prints the character string on a label at a position indicated by the label information Generating print data for switching, and switching the printing unit between an operating state and a non-operating state, When the printing operation stop means reaches the end of the ink ribbon, Of the printing section The printing operation is stopped, and the label position storage means stores the label position during printing at the same point, The print data includes each character constituting the character string, a start signal that is information added to the head of the character string and that activates the print unit, and is added to the end of the character string and It includes an end signal, which is information indicating that the printing unit is inactivated, the number of prints, and label information, and the printing means outputs the start signal at the beginning of the character string included in the print data. The printing unit is activated to allow the printing unit to continue the printing operation until the end signal is received. When the termination signal is received, the printing unit is deactivated and the number of printed sheets is set to 1. In addition, the number of printed sheets included in the character string information received by the input receiving unit is checked, and when the number of printed sheets reaches the number of printed sheets, the label sheet is discharged while the number of printed sheets is Serial If it does not reach the number of printed sheets is intended to perform repeat printing operation to the printing unit until the printed sheets reaches the number of pages printed, and, When the ink ribbon cassette that houses the ink ribbon is replaced, The printing means is From the label positioned next to the label position stored in the label position storage means , Based on the print data, Print The operation is resumed, and the printing section is made to repeat the printing operation until the number of printed sheets reaches the number of printed sheets included in the character string information. It is characterized by that.
[0007]
In such a case, since the printing operation is stopped when the ink ribbon reaches the end in the middle of printing, it is possible to effectively prevent blank printing on a label that can be printed after the label in the middle of printing. Even when the ink ribbon cassette is replaced during printing, printing can be started from the label positioned next to the label during printing. It is possible to limit the number of sheets to only one and the label loss can be effectively reduced. In addition, since the position in the middle of printing is stored, it is possible to automatically determine the unprinted label and automatically restart printing when the discharged label sheet is reset. If the ink ribbon runs out while printing multiple labels with different character strings, when printing resumes after replacing the ink ribbon cassette, it instructs the printer not to print the printed label and starts printing the label on the unprinted part. This saves the trouble of providing a means for indicating the position.
[0008]
In addition, to understand the amount of ink ribbon consumed for printing before printing and to avoid the need to replace the ink ribbon cassette in the middle of printing, the input character string, its character size, font, number of printed sheets, etc. Based on the print area calculation means for calculating the print area for printing the character string on the label, and the ink ribbon consumption for calculating the ink ribbon consumption required for printing in the print area calculated by the print area calculation means What is necessary is just to provide the calculation means and the display means which displays the said consumption.
[0009]
Furthermore, in order to be able to efficiently grasp the number of labels to be printed after replacing the ink ribbon, the number of printed labels is memorized in the middle of printing, and the number of printed labels is determined from the input scheduled print number to be printed. May be displayed as the number of remaining labels to be printed.
[0010]
On the other hand, if a part of the ink ribbon cassette is provided with a window that allows the remaining amount of the ink ribbon to be visually recognized, the remaining amount of the ink ribbon can be easily visually recognized before printing. By comparing the remaining amount with the number of characters to be printed, the number of printed sheets, and the like, it is possible to avoid the ink ribbon reaching the end during printing, and to avoid replacing the ink ribbon cassette.
[0011]
Specifically, it is preferable to provide a scale indicating the remaining amount of the ink ribbon in the radial direction in a state where the ink ribbon is wound into the ink ribbon cassette. With such a configuration, the remaining amount of the ink ribbon can be grasped more easily and accurately.
[0012]
In addition, the ink ribbon includes a remaining amount recognizing unit for recognizing the remaining amount of the ink ribbon, and the display unit calculates the ink ribbon calculated by the ink ribbon consumption amount calculating unit from the remaining amount of the ink ribbon recognized by the remaining amount recognizing unit. If the amount of ink consumed is larger and the display indicates that the ink ribbon has reached the end during printing, it is easier and more reliable to print without checking the ink ribbon cassette etc. before printing. It can be grasped that the ink ribbon runs short on the way. Therefore, the ink ribbon cassette replacement operation during printing can be avoided more effectively.
[0013]
In addition, when the printing operation is stopped by the printing operation stop unit, the printing unit discharges a label sheet on which a label in the middle of printing is arranged, and a label in the middle of printing of the label sheet that is inserted again after replacing the ink ribbon cassette If the printing is started from the label positioned next to the label, the label sheet is discharged once when the printing operation is stopped. Therefore, even when the ink ribbon cassette is removed, the label sheet is displaced accordingly. This can be avoided in advance. Similarly to the above, even when the ink ribbon cassette is replaced during printing, printing can be started from the label positioned next to the label during printing. Only one label in the middle of printing can be suppressed.
[0014]
In addition, when the printing operation is stopped at the last label positioned at the end of the label sheet by the printing operation stop unit, the printing unit discharges the label sheet on which the label in the middle of printing is arranged and inserts it after replacing the ink ribbon cassette. If printing is started from the first label of the new label sheet to be printed, the label loss due to the ink ribbon cassette replacement operation can be suppressed to only one label in the middle of printing, as described above. Printing work can be performed smoothly.
