Abstract

PURPOSE:To simultaneously measure the number of paper moneys, the bending part of the paper money and the swelling of the paper money over a wide range by detecting the presence or absence of the paper money and the abnormal dimension of the paper money by plural sensors for a paper money housing pocket, pressing an inserted medium with fixed pressure by a pressing board, whose dimension is almost same as the paper money, and detecting moving quantity by the sensor. CONSTITUTION:The paper money is housed to a hopper 1a and a housing condition is detected by a size sensor 8. A housed paper money 5 is pressed with the fixed pressure by a spring 10 and the stroke of a link 10 is detected by a width sensor 9. After the cover of a money incoming and outgoing port is closed, it is detected by the sensor 8 whether the paper money is correctly put in the hopper or not. After that, the paper money is clamped by a pressing board 6 and the thickness or the bending part of the paper money is detected again by the stroke of the pressing board 6. Accordingly, the paper money is double checked. Thus, the paper money having strongly bented part or the bank notes, whose number is >= a rated number, can be detected in an entrance and exit part.

Detecting banknote abnormalities at the deposit/withdrawal opening in conventional banknote handling devices uses a large number of sensors inside the banknote storage hopper to convert the presence or absence of banknotes into sensor ON/OFF states when the customer is setting banknotes or removing banknotes. Generally, patterns are detected, and folds and thickness of banknotes are not taken into consideration. For foreign objects with abnormal dimensions, multiple sensors are used to detect foreign objects using the same method as above. Foreign objects such as banknotes and coins are dug out of the banknote storage pocket using vibration or the like.

It is also disclosed in Japanese Patent Application Laid-Open No. 61-291370. There is a conventional technique, but this conventional technique includes an inlet/outlet section for taking in and out of a banknote exchanger, a counting section for counting banknotes, a storage section for storing banknotes, and a structure between the input/exit section, the counting section, and the storage section. and a conveyor for selectively delivering banknotes.

At the time of a payment transaction, when the payment amount is specified, the conveyor takes out the banknotes all at once from the hopper of the storage section, inspects and deposits the specified number of bills in the counting section, and transfers them all at once to the entrance/exit section by the conveyor. In addition, when depositing banknotes, when the banknotes to be deposited are put into the bank at the entrance/exit section, the banknotes are delivered to the conveyor all at once. If the number of bills to be passed is too large, the structure of the carrier becomes large, which not only increases cost but also takes up a large amount of space. Furthermore, when transferring banknotes that are crooked or have large losses, there is a high possibility that problems such as jams during counting and failures in delivery occur.

The banknotes may be too large or too large, which can easily cause a jam. The present invention improves reliability and reduces processing time by clamping the above-mentioned folds and thickness under constant pressure with a pressure plate at the deposit/withdrawal port, and by returning items that exceed a specified stroke as an abnormality on the spot. The goal is to make it shorter.

In the present invention, as described above, abnormal dimensions can be detected by a plurality of sensors placed in the pocket storage section.1. Once again, the inserted banknotes are pressed to a constant pressure with a pressure plate that is approximately the same size as the banknotes, and the amount of movement can be detected by a sensor. Reliability can be improved by preventing large bulge banknotes from being mixed in and reducing banknote jams and rejection rates.

In addition to the above embodiment, if a strain gauge or something like a mud switch that combines a conductive rubber and a switch part is used as the pressure plate, it is possible to determine which part is pressurized the most.
In addition, it is possible to determine in what part the medium is located, and therefore, it is possible to determine what kind of medium it is and how it is formed. Therefore, the plurality of sensors in the pocket storage section can be eliminated, and abnormality determination at the deposit/withdrawal section becomes more reliable, leading to improved reliability.
