[Detailed explanation of the invention] (A) Field This invention relates to the paper feed of a printing device that handles forms.
In particular, the present invention relates to a starting edge guide mechanism for stabilizing paper feeding when setting the starting edge of paper.

(B) Conventional technology and background Traditionally, cut sheet type forms and continuous forms
Even if the feeding mechanism is such that when the printing device tries to print on the first sheet, the feeding drive is applied to the paper at the upstream side of the printing position when viewed from the feeding direction.
To prevent paper from lifting off the platen,
A paper guide is also provided downstream from the printing position.

However, it is fine when the starting edge of a single sheet or first sheet passes through this paper guide and is held down, but from the printing section to this paper guide, the paper not only lifts up during printing but also has trouble feeding the paper. Even if the starting edge of the paper hits the entrance of this paper guide, there is a tendency for it to not pass through the entrance. Therefore, in such devices, the first printing line from the starting edge is usually set as a predetermined margin line to prevent printing. Although it is specified at the time of form format design, there is a request from the user side that it is better to have as few blank lines as possible, and in the case of continuous forms, the starting edge is the first sheet set in the printing device. It is a common phenomenon that you can print anywhere from now on by sacrificing , so if you really want to operate the system with fewer blank lines, you may want to waste the first sheet. I came.

Of course, it would be a good idea to reduce the number of blank lines, but if you move the entrance of the paper guide closer to the immediate downstream of the printing device to reduce the number of blank lines, the paper guide will block the paper guide, making it difficult to see the print after a line break, or the paper guide will not print properly. It may interfere with the device's ribbon guide, etc.

In order to prevent the paper from floating above the platen, the guide member such as a line indicator that guides the paper is provided with a guide plate for guiding the starting edge of the paper that has passed through the printing section to the guide member. It is made of transparent and flexible material.

Although not particularly shown, it is assumed that the serial printer has the functions of a normal push-in tractor, such as a side paper guide that works in conjunction with the left and right tractor mechanisms that support both ends of the paper.

With this configuration, when looking from the edge of a single sheet (single sheet) or the first tip of a continuous sheet,
To explain from what position stable printing and line feeds can be achieved, in the past, stable printing and line feeds were not possible unless a margin of at least D was taken, but this could be extended by lowering the member 10. Since the tip of the transparent plastic plate 17 prevents the edge of the paper from separating from the platen, it is possible to leave a small margin equal to the opening length D between the print position C and the tip of the plate 17. 17 should have enough rigidity to support the starting edge of the paper and a low coefficient of friction against the paper to make the paper slip, and as long as it satisfies the performance requirements for use, such as being adhesive, not abrading, and being transparent, it is possible to The number of blank lines can be reduced without changing the number of visible lines after printing, which is required for better operability.

A preferred material that satisfies these conditions is a plastic film, such as a transparent sheet whose main component is polyethylene terephthalate (commonly used under the trade name Lumira, Mylar, etc.) or triacetylcellulose.

Cut this out, bend it and form it into paper guide section 1.
This can be achieved by attaching the ribbon to the surface of the ribbon 6, and since the plate 17 is stiffer than paper but flexible, even if it interferes with the ribbon guide, print head, etc. during printing, it will elastically deform appropriately and will not break each other. Since there is no paper, the tip can be brought very close to the printing position.

To cut the form, rotate the platen by hand.
Needless to say, it can be done in the same way as if it were done with a normal device by cutting with a cutter section and then putting it back together.

As described above, according to the present invention, the margin that must be taken at the beginning of a form can be made extremely small, thereby increasing the degree of freedom in form design.
