Abstract

PURPOSE:To enable a sheet to be reused, by erasing a character or image printed with a soluble ink on the sheet, through wiping off the character or image by use of an erasing liquid. CONSTITUTION:The surface of a sheet 101 need not be smooth, but the sheet is preferably impermeable to an ink. For example, a plastic sheet with a surface slightly roughened or treated to appear white is preferable for use as the sheet 101. A soluble ink 102 applied by ink jet recording or the like is collected by wiping with a wiping member 103 impregnated with a correcting liquid, to become a dissolved ink 104. The wiping member 103 is preferably formed of an elastic foamed material so that the member 103 does not come out of contact with the sheet 101 during wiping and can be impregnated with the correcting liquid. An example of such a material is a foamed urethane rubber. Water with or without an alcohol dissolved therein, for example, is effective for use as the erasing liquid for an ink used for ink jet recording.

Problems to be Solved by the Invention However, the above-mentioned or currently available displays are inconvenient because only a portion of the material can be displayed on the screen. It is also difficult to carry around. In order to meet this demand, research has been carried out on rewritable sheets using photochromic or the like, but the printing quality is far from being comparable to that of the printed materials currently in widespread use. In addition, it was not possible to completely erase the data repeatedly.

EXAMPLE Hereinafter, the printed character erasing method of the present invention will be explained with reference to the drawings. The figure shows the character erasing method of the present invention. In the figure, 101 is a sheet. The surface of the sheet does not need to be smooth, but it should be one that does not allow ink to soak into it. For example, a plastic sheet whose surface is slightly roughened or treated to make it white is preferable.

The wiping member 103 is preferably elastic and foamable so that it does not separate from the surface of the sheet 101 during wiping and can contain the erasing liquid. An example of such a material is foamed urethane rubber. For example, for inkjet ink, water or a solution of alcohol dissolved therein is effective as the erasing liquid.

Effects of the Invention Since the printed character erasing method of the present invention uses an erasing liquid to wipe and erase characters and images drawn with soluble ink on a sheet, the quality of the characters is the same as that of normal printing, but Since it can be erased, the sheet can be reused.
