Abstract

PURPOSE:To properly use gradation recording and non-gradation recording, by providing a mode change-over means. CONSTITUTION:This recording apparatus has a gradation recording head 4 and a non-gradation recording head 1 and, when a change-over mode switch is set to a non-gradation recording mode, only the non-gradation recording head 1 is operated and paper 3 is moved in the direction shown by an arrow to perform recording. When the change-over mode switch is set to a gradation recording mode, the gradation recording head 4 mounted on a screw rod 6 and a guide rod 7 is operated to perform the recording only of the gradation recording part on the surface of the paper. At this time, the paper 3 is fed in the direction shown by the arrow little by little. By this method, non- gradation recording is selected when high speed recording is desired and gradation recording is selected when a speed may be slow but highly detailed recording is desired.

Conventional inkjet recording devices include continuous flow inkjet recording devices that eject ink droplets continuously and only the ink droplets necessary for printing are charged or uncharged, and drop-on devices that eject only the ink droplets necessary for printing. There are demand-type inkjet recording devices and the like. Continuous flow inkjet recording devices have a high response frequency and are capable of high-speed recording, but it is difficult to change the size of the ink droplets, and digital methods such as the dither method are required to perform gradation recording. It is necessary to use techniques. When recording gradation using dither method etc.,
Resolution is generally sacrificed. Therefore, in order to perform gradation recording with high resolution, it is necessary to perform extremely high-density recording, which takes time and sacrifices recording speed even with continuous flow inkjet. In addition, drop-on-demand type inkjet recording devices can change the size of ink droplets by changing the amplitude and pulse width of the pulse voltage applied to the piezoelectric element, and can perform gradation recording. , the recording speed was slow and high-density arrangement was difficult.

As the non-gradation recording head, for example, a continuous flow inkjet multi-array system is used. This method includes a method in which charged ink droplets are used for recording and a method in which uncharged ink droplets are used for recording, and either method can be used. Since Figure 1 is a conceptual diagram, the head structure is shown in a simple box shape.
When a continuous flow inkjet system is used, structures such as a charging electrode, a deflection electrode, and a gutter are placed in front of the nozzle. Another example of a non-gradation recording head is a bubble jet inkjet multi-array system in which ink undergoes a state change due to heat and is ejected. Bubble jet inkjet can change the volume of ejected ink droplets by changing the supplied pulse voltage and pulse width, but because it has high density and is easy to fully multi-layer, we will use it here for high-speed recording. Let us take this as an example of a non-grayscale recording head.

In this method, by changing the pulse voltage and pulse width applied to the electrostrictive vibrator, the volume of the ejected ink droplet can be easily changed, and gradation recording is possible. Another example is to have a plurality of heads with different ink densities.

The user is responsible for switching the mode, but the user can visually determine whether or not there is gradation in the document, or the recorded information read by a scanner or the RGB video signal, etc. can be determined by the user. The system may automatically make a determination and display a display prompting the user to select "gradation recording mode" or "non-gradation recording mode", and the user may simply press the selection button.

In Figure 1, the non-gradation recording head is a full multi-type that covers the paper pile, and the gradation recording head is a carriage scanning type, but this is because the documents currently used in offices are non-standard. In view of the fact that gradation recording is sufficient for many documents (many black-and-white documents or business graphics documents with about 7 colors) and there are few high-definition Victorian color documents, the present invention has been described using such a configuration example. is not limited to this configuration. For example, the gradation recording head may be a full multi-type recording head, and the non-gradation recording head may be a carriage scanning type. Further, both may be of a carriage type or a full multi-type. Furthermore, by using one head, for example, a full multi-type bubble jet head, and changing the input signal (pulse voltage, pulse width, etc.),
It may be provided with two modes, gradation recording and non-gradation recording, and can be used for gradation recording and non-gradation recording as required.

Effects As is clear from the above explanation, according to the present invention, a desired recording method can be selected as necessary. Non-grayscale recording can be selected, and if high-definition recording is desired although the speed may be slow, gradation recording can be selected.
