Abstract

PURPOSE:To quickly prepare a liquid crystal display device without dislocation, and also, to reduce the manhour by coping even with an automatization by forming an alignment mark of the upper and the lower electrodes and an external connecting terminal on a transparent electrode by laminating a colored photoresist in one and the same shape, or forming said mark only by a colored photoresist. CONSTITUTION:In the liquid crystal display device where two pieces of transparent substrate 1, 2 having transparent electrodes 5, 6 are installed opposingly by providing a prescribed gap, and a liquid crystal is enclosed in the gap, alignment marks 3, 4 formed by a colored photoresist are provided on at least one substrate. The alignment mark 3 for the alignment of the upper and the lower transparent electrodes 5, 6 is formed on a transparent electrode 3a by laminating a photoresist 3b in one and the same shape so that it is easily visible and can be detected automatically. The alignment mark 4 for connecting an external connecting terminal 7 and an external circuit without generating the dislocation is formed by a colored photoresist so as to be easily visible. In such a way, by forming an easily visible alignment mark by a simple method, the automatization of a manufacturing line is attained, and an inexpensive liquid crystal display device being free from the dislocation of the upper and the lower electrodes is obtained.

As shown in FIG. 3, the alignment mark of a conventional liquid crystal display device is made by processing a transparent conductive film into a predetermined shape to form a transparent electrode 5.
.. 6, the transparent conductive film was formed at the same time. (Transparent electrode 3a serving as an alignment mark) [Problems to be solved by the invention] However, in the above-mentioned conventional technology, the alignment mark is formed of a transparent conductive ffi film, making it difficult to see. This caused a large amount of man-hours and caused misalignment of the upper and lower electrodes. Furthermore, there was a problem in that the production line could not be automated because it was difficult to automatically detect the transparent conductive film.

The liquid crystal display device of the present invention has a transparent fi! In a liquid crystal display device, in which two transparent substrates with polar polarities are placed facing each other with a certain gap between them, and a liquid crystal is sealed in the gap, an alignment film formed of a colored photoresist on at least one of the substrates is used. Characterized by cultivating marks.

1(a) and 1(b) are a schematic plan view and a schematic cross-sectional view of an embodiment of the present invention, in which 1 is an upper substrate, 2 is a lower substrate, 3 is an upper and lower transparent electrode 5 of the present invention. This is an alignment mark for positioning No. 6, and is formed by laminating a photoresist 3b in the same shape on the transparent ffi pole 3a so that it can be easily seen and automatically detected. As a result, it is now possible to manually attach both the upper and lower substrates 1.2 quickly (and accurately so that the position of the lower electrode does not shift), and it is also possible to attach them automatically. 4 is an external connection This is an alignment mark for connecting the terminal 7 and the external circuit without positional deviation, and it is also formed of a transparent electrode and colored photoresist to make it easy to see. 5 is the lower electrode, 6 is the upper electrode, and 8 is the upper and lower substrate. Here, a method for forming the alignment marks 3 for positioning the upper and lower transparent electrodes 5.6 and the alignment marks 4 for positioning the external connection terminals 7 will be explained with reference to FIG. A transparent electrode 9 is formed on a substrate 1, and a colored photoresist 10 is further applied (a). Next, the photomask 11 having a predetermined pattern is exposed to ultraviolet light 1112 (b). Thereafter, a predetermined pattern is obtained by developing and etching (C) 6. Next, exposure to ultraviolet light 1112 is performed through a photomask 13 to grow the predetermined pattern again d).

As described above, according to the present invention, in a liquid crystal display device, alignment marks for upper and lower electrodes and external connection terminals are formed by laminating colored photoresists in the same shape on transparent electrodes, or by laminating colored photoresists in the same shape. By forming the alignment mark with just one step, the alignment mark becomes extremely easy to see, so a liquid crystal display device can be manufactured quickly (without positional deviation). Also, automatic detection can be easily performed, making it compatible with automation and reducing the number of man-hours.

Furthermore, another effect is that the appearance of the liquid crystal display device can be improved because the transmittance of the upper and lower transparent electrodes can be made thicker (even if the transmittance is made thicker).
