知部材と、 前記画像形成装置本体側に設けられ前記表示部
材を検知することにより前記画像形成ユニツトが
新品か、使用済かを判別する判別手段と、 前記画像形成ユニツトが画像形成動作に使用さ
れた量を計測するカウンタと、 前記カウンタが所定数を計数したら画像形成動
作を禁止する禁止手段とを有し、 前記判別手段が前記画像形成ユニツトの新品を
検出した場合、前記使用状態検知部材を使用済状
態に変化させた後に前記カウンタを初期状態にリ
セツトすることを特徴とする画像形成ユニツト交
