Abstract

PURPOSE:To improve welding efficiency and quality by applying a high-frequency current to a filler wire of consumable electrode type or nonconsumable electrode type arc welding from a high-frequency power source for the filler wire to prevent arc deflection, arc instability and spatters. CONSTITUTION:An arc column 5 is generated between a nonconsumable electrode 2 and base metal 1 by a current supplied from a main welding power source 4. At this time, shielding gas is supplied to the periphery of the arc column 5 from a shielding nozzle 6. On the other hand, the current supplied from the high-frequency power source 11a for the filler wire 9 is applied to the filler wire 9 via a wire guide 10 and the filler wire 9 supplied from a wire reel 7 is fed to the inside of the arc column 5 by feed rollers 8 and welding is proceeded. Since the filler wire current and the welding main current at this time are the high-frequency current and DC respectively, even if eletromagnetic force acts between the current carried to the filler wire 9 and the current carried to the arc column 5, its change is fast, so the arc column 5 is not deflected following it and in addition, the arc instability and the occurrence of spatters are prevented.

Regarding the hot wire welding method that improves welding efficiency by adding filler wire to the arc of consumable electrode type or non-consumable electrode type arc welding, the non-consumable electrode type shown in the schematic diagram in Figure 3 is a method that has been tried in the past. Explaining arc welding 1
A non-consumable electrode 2 such as a tungsten rod is held by an electrode holder 3 for conducting current and faces the base material 1 to be welded, and there is a gap between the base material 1 and the non-consumable electrode 2, for example. A current is supplied from the main welding power source 4 of the DC constant current power source to generate an arc column 5 between the two, and the non-consumable electrode 2
An inert gas such as Ar is ejected to shield the arc column 5 from a shield nozzle 6 surrounding the arc column 5, and a filler wire 9 fed by a wire reel 7 and a feed roller 8 is fed into the arc column 5 by a wire guide 10. At the same time, current is passed between the base metal 1 and the filler wire 9 from the filler wire power source 11, and the base metal 1 is welded while the filler wire 9 is added.

However, in such a method, when the energized filler wire 9 is supplied into the arc column 5, an electromagnetic force is generated between the arc current in the arc column 5 and the current flowing through the filler wire 9, regardless of its polarity. Arc deflection, arc instability.

This may cause spatter, etc. Therefore, in order to reduce this influence, it is necessary to lower the current flowing through the filler wire 9, but as a result, there is a problem in that the expected efficiency cannot be improved.

In addition, as shown in the waveform diagram of FIG. 4, the non-consumable electrode 2 of FIG.
A method has been proposed in which the waveforms of the current A supplied to the filler wire 9 and the current A passed through the filler wire 9 are square waves, and the current is applied alternately to each to remove the influence of electromagnetic force, but this method requires a very complicated and expensive device. At the same time, there is a problem that it cannot be used in addition to conventional welding equipment.
