Abstract

PURPOSE:To sharpen the directivity of a light radiated from the center of a light emitting indicator, and to improve its indensity by composing the indicator of a lens body, and composing the lens body of a concave lenslike outer periphery, and a convex lenslike nucleus protruding from the center of the outer periphery. CONSTITUTION:In a light emitting indicator 2, a lens body 10 is disposed in a through hole 5 formed at a mask plate 4 in which a light emitting chip (LED light emitting element) 6 is disposed, and the body 10 is composed of a concave lenslike periphery 10A and a convex lenslike nucleus 10B protruding from the center of the periphery 10A. The outer diameter R1 of the periphery 10A and the outer diameter R2 of the nucleus 10B are so set to the relationship of R1/4<R2<3R1/4. Thus, a light radiated from a light emitting chip 6 is passed through the periphery 10A, radiated with a directivity of expansion to enlarge a visible angle, and radiated with a sharp directivity passed and condensed through the nucleus 10B protruding at the center of the periphery to improve its intensity.

However, the light emitted from the light-emitting display section 2 shown in FIG. 6 is diffused over a wide area around the resin layer 8 having a concave surface 9, so that the directivity becomes gentle in both the horizontal and vertical directions. That is, it is omnidirectional. On the other hand, when a light-emitting display body having the light-emitting display section 2 shown in the figure is used in a bright place, there may be a problem that the relative brightness with the external brightness is insufficient and it is difficult to see the display, or if the display is difficult to see, It was necessary to use an expensive light emitting chip (light source).

FIG. 1 illustrates a single light-emitting display section 2 of a light-emitting display according to an embodiment of the present invention, and FIG. 2 is an enlarged sectional view taken along line A-A in FIG. Typical examples of the arrangement of the light emitting display section 2 include an 8 x 8 dot matrix arrangement and a 16 x 16 dot matrix arrangement, as explained in FIG. 5, but arrangements with other numbers of columns may also be used. Further, the shape of the bottom surface of the light emitting display section 2 in plan view may be a circle as shown in FIG. 1 or a polygon other than that.
A lens body 10 is disposed in a through hole 5 formed in a mask plate 4 in which an ED light emitting element (ED light emitting element) 6 is disposed. This lens body 10 has a concave lens-shaped peripheral portion 10A and a convex lens-shaped core portion 10B protruding from the center of the outer peripheral portion 10A. The outer diameter R1 of the outer peripheral portion 10A and the outer diameter R2 of the core portion 10B are R1/4<R1<3.
It is recommended that the relationship be set to R1/4, and in particular set to R2ζR,/2.

In a light emitting display body having such a light emitting display section 2, the emitted light emitted from the light emitting chip 6 is condensed by the convex lens function of the convex lens-shaped core portion 10B as shown by arrows A and A in FIG. On the other hand, it is diffused by the concave lens function of the concave lens-shaped outer circumferential portion 10B as shown by the single arrowhead, and exhibits the directivity shown in FIG. When used, the viewing angle a of the emitted light from the convex lens-shaped core portion 10B in the light emitting display section 2 is set to about 20 to 40 degrees, and the viewing angle a of the emitted light from the concave lens-shaped outer peripheral portion 10A is set to about 90 degrees.
It is preferable to set the angle to about 160 degrees because the visible area of the practical soil is wide and the brightness can be displayed brightly in the visible area. Note that the relationship between R3 and R2 above is R
Various directional characteristics can be ensured by setting in the range 1/4<RZ<3RI/4 or other ratios.

The lens body 10 may be made of transparent epoxy resin or silicone resin, or may be made of inorganic transparent glass, and preferably has a light refractive index of 1.3.
Use the above. Note that the lens body 10 may be manufactured integrally with the light emitting chip 6, or may be manufactured as a separate body and placed and joined together.

In this example, the lens portion 13 replaces the lens body, which is a component of the present invention. Therefore, it is necessary for the lens portion 13 to have a concave lens shape at the outer periphery and a convex lens shape at the core. In addition, a light-emitting chip is arranged and wired on the electrode leads in advance, and a light-emitting lamp (not shown) formed on a lens body similar to the above with epoxy resin and sealed is mounted on a printed circuit board or the like, and the light-emitting display section ( A dot matrix light-emitting display body may also be constructed in which light-emitting dots (light-emitting dots) are formed.

As described above, according to the light-emitting display of the present invention, the emitted light emitted from the center of the light-emitting display is condensed by the convex lens function of the convex lens-shaped core, and exhibits sharp directivity and improved brightness. Since the radiation emitted from the outside is diffused by the concave lens function of the concave lens-shaped outer periphery, it can be suitably used for traffic information boards, etc., where the display must be clearly visible even in bright daylight. . Naturally, it can also be suitably used when it is desired to enhance visibility with strong light at night. Furthermore, since no expensive light source is used, the cost is low, and there is no need for complicated wiring.
