Abstract

PURPOSE:To obtain a gray hair preventing agent effective in remarkably activating melanogenesis and safe to the skin and hair, by using 7-nonadecenoic acid, 8-eicosenoic acid and their lower alkyl esters as active component. CONSTITUTION:The objective gray hair preventing agent effective in preventing the generation of gray hair by applying to the scalp can be produced by using 7-nonadecenoic acid of formula I, its lower alkyl ester, 8-eicosenoic acid of formula II or its lower alkyl ester as an active component. The active component is readily available and is compounded to the agent in an amount of 0.01-10wt.%, preferably 0.5-2.0wt.%.
