Abstract

PURPOSE:To permit a user to recognize that a receiver moves to a communicable area by generating a display in which a blinking period is changed in accordance with a reception electric field level from a level display part when the receiver with electric field intensity instruction is beyond a communication range. CONSTITUTION:The title receiver is provided with a reception part 1, a level detection part 2 and the level display part 3. The reception part 1 receives the radio wave of a base station in a radio zone where a moving radio communication equipment is positioned, and outputs a reception electric field level detection signal. The level detection part 2 inputs the reception electric field level detection signal from the reception part 1, and outputs an averaged voltage at every decided time to the level display part 3. The level display part 3 changes the blinking period of a light-emitting element in accordance with the height of the averaged voltage from the level detection part 2, and executes blinking display in accordance with the height of the reception electric field level. When the receiver moves to a direction where the reception electric field level is high. the blinking period is speeded up, and when it moves to a direction where the reception electric field level is low, the blinking period is delayed, for example, whereby the direction that the receiver has to move to the communicable area can be discriminated.

[Detailed Description of the Invention] [Industrial Field of Application] The present invention relates to a receiver with field strength indication in a mobile radio communication device, and in particular, when the mobile radio communication device is outside the communication range, it moves into the communication range. The present invention relates to a receiver with an electric field strength indication that indicates the state of the received electric field level as a guideline for the reception.

2. Description of the Related Art In-vehicle or portable mobile radio communication devices are commonly used that communicate by transmitting and receiving radio waves between a radio base station located in a communication service area and a mobile station. Moreover, many of these mobile radio communication devices are equipped with a receiver having a function of detecting the strength of a received electric field from a radio base station.

Conventionally, this type of field strength indicating receiver determines that communication is not possible when the received electric field level falls below a certain value, and displays a message indicating that the receiver is out of communication range, such as "1 Unavailable." After that, the function will not be able to communicate until the received electric field level reaches a level that allows communication.

With the conventional 1-inch field strength indicator receiver that is connected to two series, the only indication to the user is ``Unavailable'', so when the user wants to move to an area where communication is possible, it is difficult to know which direction to move. The downside was that I didn't know if I should move.

The embodiment shown in FIG. 1 includes a receiving section 1, a level detecting section 2, and a level display section 3. The receiving unit 1 receives radio waves from a base station in a wireless zone where a mobile radio communication device is located, and outputs a received electric field level detection signal. The level detection section 2 inputs the received electric field level detection signal from the reception section 1 and outputs the averaged voltage over a predetermined period of time to the level display section 3.

The level display section 3 changes the period of blinking of the light emitting element in accordance with the level of the averaged voltage from the level detection section 2, and performs a blinking display corresponding to the level of the received electric field level. First, a specific example of the above-mentioned blinking cycle will be explained. FIG. 2 is an explanatory diagram showing the average output voltage of the level detecting section 2 and the blinking cycle time of the level display section 3 at an arbitrary received electric field level.

In Figure 2, the received electric field level is E. , in the case of Vo <Vl<V2 """<V, ++,
Further, if the setting is made such that To>TI>T2...>To, the higher the received electric field level becomes, the faster the blinking cycle of the level display section becomes. In other words, when the receiver moves in a direction where the received electric field level is high, the blinking period becomes faster, and conversely, when the receiver moves in a direction where the received electric field level is low,
Since the blinking period becomes slower, it is possible to determine the direction in which to move to an area where communication is possible.

As explained above, the present invention provides a display that changes the blinking cycle in accordance with the received electric field level when a receiver with electric field strength indication equipped with a receiving section, a level detecting section, and a level display section is outside the communication range. This has the effect of allowing the user to recognize the direction in which to move to the area where communication is possible by emitting light from the level display section.
