Abstract

PURPOSE:To provide a composite yarn composed of a meta-aramid fiber and a polyphenylene sulfide fiber and having excellent heat-resistance and chemical resistance and good flame-proofness. CONSTITUTION:The objective yarn can be produced by mixing (A) a meta- aramid fiber (preferably containing the unit of formula I as >=90% of the recurring units) and (B) a polyphenylene sulfide fiber (preferably a polymer produced by reacting anhydrous sodium sulfide with a poly-halogen-substituted cyclic compound in a polar solvent and containing the unit of formula II as >=90% of the recurring units) preferably at a weight ratio (A:B) of 10:90-90:10.
