Abstract

PURPOSE:To effectively apply a water repelling material to a photosensitive body by allowing an applying roller to be brought into contact with the photosensitive body and the water repelling material at the time of applying the water repelling material, and separating the applying roller from the photosensitive body and the water repelling material at the time of non-application. CONSTITUTION:An applying roller 2 is held by an applying roller holder 11 so as to be brought into contact with and to be separated from the surface of a photosensitive body 1. Also, by a water repelling material holder 15, a water repelling material 3 is held so as to be brought into contact with and to be separated from the roller 2. In this state, by the operation of the holder 11 and 15 by an operating member 12, application is executed by allowing the roller to be brought into contact with both the photosensitive body 1 and the water repelling material 3 at the time of application, and at the time of non-application, the roller 2 is separated from not only the photosensitive body but also the water repelling material 3. Also, at the time of application, it is also possible that the applying roller 22 applies a water repelling material 23 to the photosensitive body 1 at speed being different from that of the photosensitive body, and also, while bringing it to reciprocating movement in the axial direction.

There is a problem in that dew condensation forms on the surface of the photoreceptor, causing the image to become blurry or less sharp, resulting in a decrease in resolution. This phenomenon occurs especially when the photoreceptor is used for a long period of time, and the surface becomes rough. If this happens, it will occur frequently.

In the embodiment described above, when applying the water-repellent material, the solenoid 12 is activated to rotate the holder 15 counterclockwise about the support shaft 14, and the water-repellent material 3 pushes the application roller 2, thereby removing the holder. 11 in the same direction about the support shaft 10 to bring the application roller 2 into contact with the rotating photoreceptor 1.

The application roller 2 is rotated faster or slower than the rotational speed of the photoreceptor 1 by an operating member (not shown), or the application roller 2 is rotated at a speed faster or slower than the rotation speed of the photoreceptor 1 by an operating member (not shown), or the application roller 2 is rotated at a speed faster or slower than the rotation speed of the photoreceptor 1 without providing an operating member.
It rotates in sync with it due to contact friction with it. As a result, the water-repellent material 3 is applied onto the surface of the photoreceptor 1.

By the way, since the water repellent material 3 is made of a highly viscous liquid or semi-solid material as described above, when the photoreceptor 1 is stopped for a long time, it is left in the state shown in Fig. 1. Then, only the water-repellent material 3 in the portion of the application roller 2 that is in contact with the photoreceptor 1 adheres to the photoreceptor 1, and the amount of water-repellent material 3 in this portion becomes larger than that in other portions. Therefore, when the photoreceptor 1 is rotated again, the water-repellent material 3 tends to adhere to anything that comes into contact with the photoreceptor 1, leading to quality deterioration. In addition, the water-repellent material 3 tends to adhere to anything that comes into contact with the photoreceptor 1, leading to quality deterioration, and image deterioration due to scattering stains on the charger, stains on the optical system, etc. In this case, it is necessary to keep the coating roller 2 apart from the photoreceptor 1.

Furthermore, if the water-repellent material 3 is left in contact with the application roller 2 at this time, a large amount of the water-repellent material 3 will adhere to the part of the application roller 2 that is in contact with the water-repellent material 3, and the photoconductor 1 will be coated with water-repellent material 3. At the time of re-rotation, a large amount of the water repellent material 3 is applied locally in exactly the same manner as described above, causing inconvenience, so it is necessary to keep the water repellent material 3 separated from the application roller 2 at this time.

From this point of view, FIG. 2 shows a state in which the application roller 2 is separated from the photoreceptor 1 and the water-repellent material 3 during non-application, and in this case, the operation of the solenoid 12 is stopped. As a result, the holder 15 is pulled by the spring 16 and rotates clockwise about the support shaft 14, and the water repellent material 3
When the holder 15 separates from the application roller 2, the holder 11 is rotated clockwise about the spindle 10,
The result will be as shown in the figure.

In the above embodiment, the solenoid 12 may be replaced by another actuating member having a similar function, and if the solenoid 12 is of a double-acting type, the spring 16 is omitted, and the water repellent material 3 is moved downward by gravity. Although not shown in the drawings, the receiver is preferably provided with a case, a scraper, etc. to prevent it from flowing out.

In the embodiment described above, when applying the water-repellent material, the holder 39° 39' is moved to the position shown in the third figure by an operating member (not shown), and the application roller 22 is brought into contact with the photoreceptor 1 and the water-repellent material 23. When applying the water repellent material 23 as described above, the gear 42 is driven by an actuating member (not shown), and this drives the gear 41, 40.
The swash plate cam 43 and the central shaft 36 are rotated through the swash plate cam 43 and the central shaft 36. As the swash plate cam 43 rotates, the central shaft 36 whose tip is in contact with the cam surface by the pressing force of the spring 37 rotates and reciprocates in the axial direction as shown by the arrow in FIG.
As a result, the application roller 22 also applies the water-repellent material 23 onto the surface of the photoreceptor 1 while moving in the same manner as the central shaft 36 . In this case, it is preferable that the rotational speeds of the coating roller 22 and the photoreceptor 1 are different, and the speed ratio thereof is about 0.5 to 2 (excluding 1). It has been found that good results can be obtained by moving the application roller 22 in an axial direction of about 1 to 5 mm.

In addition, in order to regulate the amount of water-repellent material applied, the coating roller 22 may not be brought into constant contact with the photoreceptor 1 even when it is rotating, but may be brought into contact with it every certain number of sheets or during non-image formation. To prevent dew condensation from forming on the surface of the photoconductor 1, or to prevent abnormalities such as scattering of the water repellent material and adhesion of the water repellent material to the cleaning blade 28 and other members that are in contact with the photoconductor 1. It is best to adjust the amount of application.

[Effects of the Invention] The apparatus according to claim 1 is as described above, in which the application roller holder and the water-repellent holder are actuated by the operation of the actuating member, and when applying the water-repellent material, the application roller is moved to the photoreceptor. Since the application roller is kept in contact with the photoreceptor and the water-repellent material and is separated from the photoreceptor and the water-repellent material when not being applied, a large amount of the water-repellent material is locally attached to the photoreceptor and the application roller when not being applied. This prevents the adhered water-repellent material from adhering to members that come into contact with the photoreceptor and causing quality deterioration, and also prevents stains on the charger, stains on the optical system, etc. due to the scattered water-repellent material, etc. This has the effect of preventing image deterioration from occurring.

Next, in the apparatus of claim 2, the speeds of the photoreceptor and the application roller are set to be different, and the application roller is installed to move back and forth in the axial direction, so that the water-repellent material is uniformly applied over the entire surface of the photoreceptor. It prevents the occurrence of local uneven coating,
In particular, the highly viscous liquid or semi-solid water repellent material can be rubbed into the photoreceptor in a good manner, making it uniform and in good condition, resulting in the application of an appropriate amount of water repellent material overall. This has the effect that, as with the apparatus of claim 1, inconveniences due to excessive adhesion can be prevented without causing excessive adhesion.
