CONSTITUTION:The dummy terminals 12 are provided in addition to the segment terminals 11 necessary for the display to the liquid crystal display element 1. A power supply terminal 31 connected to a power supply 4 and the earth terminal 32 are provided to the circuit board 3 and earth terminal connecting parts 32a, 32b to be connected with the earth terminal 24 and connecting terminals 25 of a flexible circuit board 2 are provided to the earth terminal 32. The dummy terminals 12 are connected through the connecting terminals 25 and the earth terminal connecting parts 32b to the earth terminal 32. The electric charge electrified on the surface of the liquid crystal display element 1 from the outside is thereby passed from the dummy terminals 12 to the earth terminal 32 of the circuit board 3 and, therefore, no influence is exerted on the driving IC 21 and the breakage of the driving IC 21 is prevented.

To explain this in more detail, since the liquid crystal display element is a display device, it is mounted on the outermost side of the set, and there are many opportunities for the display surface to be directly touched. Therefore, when a charged object approaches the display surface, the display surface of the liquid crystal display element is charged,
This charged charge may discharge through the segment, and when the charge is large, the drive IC that drives the segment

An embodiment of the present invention will be described below with reference to FIGS. 1 and 2. The liquid crystal display element 1 is provided with dummy terminals 12 in addition to the segment terminals 11 necessary for indicating non-arrival. The flexible substrate 2 connected to this liquid crystal display element 1 includes:
A drive IC 21 is mounted, and an output terminal 22 on one side connected to the drive IC 21 is connected to the segment terminal 1.
A power terminal 23 and a ground terminal 24 on the other side connected to the drive IC 211 are provided on the circuit board 3 side, which will be described later, and a connection terminal 25 is provided corresponding to the dummy terminal 12. ing. The circuit board 3 is provided with a power terminal 31 and a ground terminal 32 that are connected to the power source 4, and the power terminal 31 is provided with a power terminal connection portion 31a to which the power terminal 23 of the flexible board 2 is connected. , a ground terminal 321 is provided with ground terminal connecting portions 32 a and 32 b to which the ground terminal 24 and connection terminal 25 of the flexible substrate 2 are connected.

Therefore, the electric charge accumulated on the display surface of the liquid crystal display element 1 from the outside is transferred from the dummy terminal 12 to the ground terminal 32 of the circuit board 3.
Since the current flows to the drive IC 21, the drive IC 21 is not affected, and the drive IC is prevented from being destroyed. It is also effective in preventing IC breakdown due to static electricity generated during handling during the manufacturing process.
