Abstract

PURPOSE:To obtain a floor tile or a floor sheet having durability and high artistic feature, by scattering and embedding granules of synthetic resin in a PVC matrix layer which are neither melted nor deformed by said PVC. CONSTITUTION:A PVC matrix layer 1 is obtained by processing, e.g., kneading by a Banbury mixer PVC components at 150-220 deg.C and arranging the thickness thereof at a predetermined value by a mill roll. Then, decorative granules 2 of synthetic resin having the diameter of 0.3-3.0mm and which are neither melted nor deformed by the matrix layer are scattered on the PVC matrix layer 1 and embedded therein by calender processing, and at the same time, rolled into the thickness of 1.5-4mm. Thus, a floor tile 3 is obtained. The granules are formed of synthetic resin, for example, nylon 6, polycarbonate, epoxy, urea, unsaturated polyester etc., and, they may be colored or transparent. The pattern of the granules can display high artistic feature and is hard to be worn out. Therefore, the abrasion resistance of the tile can be improved by the granules.

The above-mentioned granules do not melt and deform at the temperature at which the M layer is heated and softened when it is formed into a sheet. In the present invention, the granular material as the pattern material does not have a flowing pattern, but the granular pattern retains its original shape and exhibits high design quality. Furthermore, since the granules are embedded over almost the entire thickness, the pattern is unlikely to disappear due to wear.
