Cushion materials of this type have conventionally been made of synthetic resin elastic foam, aggregates of small pieces of synthetic resin elastic foam, or fiber aggregates. However, synthetic resin elastic foam and aggregates of small pieces of synthetic resin elastic foam have the advantage that they are light and do not easily cause permanent deformation, but their initial hardness (initial rise of the stress-strain curve) is high, so they have a hard texture. It gives a feeling that it is difficult to blend in, and it is difficult to mold sharp or uneven shapes. On the other hand, since fiber aggregates have a low initial hardness, they have a soft texture and are easy to mold, and can be easily molded into sharp or uneven shapes, but they are heavy and permanent deformation remains, resulting in the so-called sagging phenomenon. Cheap.

Therefore, it is possible to mix small pieces of synthetic resin elastic foam with fibers, but this mixture is very easy to collapse due to the elasticity of the synthetic resin elastic foam, and it is almost impossible to press-form the mixture into a predetermined shape. It was so difficult that it was almost impossible.

In order to manufacture the cushion material of the present invention, first, the synthetic resin elastic foam pieces and fibers are mixed and entangled. For mixing and entangling, it is common to use a mixing and entangling machine equipped with a picker roll, such as a fleece-making machine used for felt production.

In order to impregnate the entangled material with the synthetic resin binder, the synthetic resin binder may be added in the form of a liquid, solution, emulsion (latex), etc. at the same time as the entangled material is mixed, or After entanglement, the entangled material is impregnated by means such as spraying, brushing, dipping, etc. After impregnation, if desired, it is dried at room temperature or by heating, and then press-molded into a predetermined shape. At this time, the synthetic resin elastic foam pieces and the fibers are entangled, so that the foam pieces and the fibers do not collapse under the pressure of the press molding.

In the cushion material of the present invention, the mixing ratio of the synthetic resin elastic foam pieces and the fibers is 7:3 by weight.
The mixing ratio of the above mixture and the synthetic resin binder is generally about 5 to 15 parts by weight per 100 parts by weight of the above mixture.

As mentioned above, the cushion material of the present invention is made by entangling a mixture of small pieces of synthetic resin elastic foam and fibers, binding them with a synthetic resin binder, and press-molding them into a predetermined shape. Also, the foam pieces and fibers are easily molded into a predetermined shape without collapsing. The molded product has a relatively low initial hardness and has a soft texture that is easy to conform to, but it is difficult to retain permanent deformation and is difficult to set. Furthermore, it is considerably lighter in weight than fiber alone, making it suitable as a cushion material for automobiles and the like.
