圧ローラ間に形成されるニップ部に未定着像を担持した
シート材を通過させることでシート材上に像を定着せし
めている。そこで、この定着時における現像剤のを使用
し、また、加圧ローラについてはシリコーンゴム等の弾
性層を有するローラを使用するものか多い、ところか、
上記のように加圧ローラ表面が弾性体である場合にはニ
ップ部へ向かうシート材の前端かニップ部に到達する前
に加圧ローラに当接すると、シート材の前端がその表面
を滑ってニップ部へ到達せず中間位置で停滞してしまう
という事態や、当接時の衝撃等で担持している画像を乱
す等の事態を生じてしまう。特にニップ部へ向う前端部
か下向にカールしたシート材の場合には、上記の問題が
顕著にあられれ、シート材前端部の折れやシワ、また当
接時の衝撃がシート材の後端まで波及してしまった場合
には画像乱れ等の問題が著しいものとなって現われる。
