The top adapter ring 5 inside the packing box 3 is pushed to the left in the figure by the fluid pressure in the high pressure chamber 4, and the top adapter ring 5 further compresses the elastic ring 6 inside the annular space 10, which causes the elastic ring 6 to press against the packing box 3. The sealing ring 7 is pressed even more strongly against the inner surface, and the packing ring 7 is pressed even more strongly in the direction of the inner member 1 by the elastic ring 6, forming an even stronger seal than the initial seal.

A rigid top adapter ring, an elastic ring,
In the ultra-high pressure sealing device, in which a packing ring for compressing the ring and a backup ring having a higher yield strength than the packing ring are arranged in order from the high pressure part side, the packing ring is in contact with the inner wall surface of the outer member. An outer circumferential tapered surface that reduces in diameter toward the end surface on the top adapter ring side to form an annular space having a trapezoidal cross-section with the end surface of the top adapter ring, and a diameter-reduced parallel surface that continues to the tip of the tapered surface on the reduced diameter side. the elastic ring has a cylindrical end;
Compressed in the annular space having a trapezoidal cross-sectional shape by the inner wall surface of the outer member, the tapered surface of the packing ring, the outer peripheral surface of the reduced diameter parallel cylindrical end, and the end surface of the top adapter ring. It is.

Since the elastic ring is compressed by the tapered surface of the packing ring and the outer peripheral surface of the reduced diameter parallel cylindrical end and the end surface of the top adapter ring, the elastic ring is bitten between the packing ring and the top adapter ring. At the same time, the diameter-reduced parallel cylindrical end of the top adapter ring is easily pressed inward to ensure hotness, resulting in high sealing performance.

The elastic ring 6a has a tapered surface 71 in the distal direction over a predetermined length of the outer periphery to form a shape, and integrally has a diameter-reduced parallel cylindrical end portion 73 connected to the diameter-reduced end of the surface. It is formed of a ring with a pentagonal cross section made of a material having restoring force such as synthetic rubber or natural rubber, and the dimension of the surface in contact with the outer peripheral surface of the reduced diameter parallel cylindrical end 73 of the packing ring 7a is that of a reduced diameter parallel cylinder. It is important that the three contact surfaces are reliably and sufficiently secured to each other around the entire circumference, and in the preferred example shown, the packing ring 7a of the elastic ring 6a
The contact surface with the sealing ring 7a is formed by an inclined surface portion having a shape corresponding to the tapered surface 71 of the packing ring 7a, and a cylindrical inner surface portion having a shape corresponding to the outer peripheral surface of the diameter-reduced parallel cylindrical end portion 73 of the packing ring 7a, and The outer peripheral edge of the high-pressure side end face is formed to have an acute-angled cross section.

Because of its presence, the sealing performance is high and the compressive force applied to the elastic ring and top adapter ring during initial sealing is reduced, which has the effect of extending the life of the elastic ring and packing ring.
