In automatic packaging machines, thermoplastic plastic bands have conventionally been used as packaging bands. This is because both end portions of the band wrapped around the object to be packed can be joined by thermal welding, which saves the trouble of tying them one by one and can be done quickly. However, with such thermoplastic bands, the thermoplastic plastic itself is expensive, and the conventional method of joining the end portions can only be applied to thick bands, making the band more expensive. The problem is that it is expensive.

First, both end portions 1 and 2 of the thermoplastic band to be welded are overlapped, and the overlapping portion is pulled from both sides using an appropriate member (not shown). Next, above the overlapped part,
A heating tool 5 having several parallel elongated heating blades 6
The heating blade 6 faces along the tension direction of the band. (Fig. 1) Next, push down the heating tool 5,
Both end portions 1 and 2 of the overlapped band are melted and penetrated by a heating blade 6. (Fig. 2) As a result, several parallel elongated holes 3 are formed in both end portions 1 and 2 of the overlapped band, and both end portions 1 and 2 are melted into the respective peripheral walls of the elongated holes 3. A continuous fusion zone 4 is formed. (FIG. 5) Also, at this time, a slight gap 7 is created between both end portions 1 and 2 of the band. Next, the heating tool 5 is raised and the heating blade 6 is pulled out (Fig. 3), and then the end portion 1 of the band,
The overlapping portions of 2 are sandwiched and pressed from above and below in a sandwich-like manner using pressing bodies 8 and 9 to form a molten portion 4.
Squeeze the protruding parts from the surface of the end parts 1 and 2 of the band, and press both end parts 1 and 2 of the band.
At the same time, the thickness of the melted part 4 is made to be as uniform as possible. (FIG. 4) FIG. 6 is an enlarged view of the elongated hole 3 in this state.

However, with this joining method, only thick materials could be welded. When passing through the heating blade, both end portions 1 of the band,
This is due to the fact that 2 are overlapped and the both sides of the overlapped portion are simply stretched. In other words, even if the overlapped parts are pulled together from both sides using appropriate members, this does not mean that the overlapped parts are completely in close contact with each other, so the degree of adhesion in the center will inevitably vary. is weak, so when the heating blade 6 penetrates the end portion 1 of the upper band and attempts to contact and break through the upper surface of the end portion 2 of the lower band, at this time the lower band A gap is created between the end portion 2 and the end portion 1 of the upper band, and unless the band is very strong, the gap becomes too large and the two end portions cannot be welded together. As a result, only bands of considerable thickness could be used.

Furthermore, FIG. 7 shows an explanation for welding a thin band using the conventional joining method, in which a heating blade 6 passing through the end portion 1' of the upper band is used to weld the lower band. When an attempt is made to contact and break through the upper surface of the end portion 2', a large gap is created between the two end portions 1' and 2', which prevents the fused portions of the two end portions from connecting, and eventually the two end portions Indicates that it is not possible to join the parts.

The present invention has been made in view of the above points, and is achieved by maintaining both end portions of the overlapped band so that they do not separate over the entire surface of the overlapped band when passing through the heating blade. The present invention involves pulling both overlapping end portions of a packaging band from both sides, and penetrating the heating blades of a heating tool provided with a plurality of elongated heating blades in parallel to both overlapping end portions of the packaging band. In a method for joining the ends of a packaging band in an automatic packaging machine in which both ends of the packaging band are joined by melting and tying, when the heated blade is passed through, both overlapping ends of the packaging band are joined together at their joined surfaces. This is a method for joining the ends of a packing band in an automatic packing machine, characterized in that the ends of the packing band are maintained so as not to separate over the entire surface of the packing band.

10 to 12 sequentially illustrate the steps of the present invention, in which a table having a curved surface is applied to the side opposite to the cutting blade of both overlapping end portions of the packing band, and the packing band is It is maintained so that the terminal portions of the terminals do not come apart over the entire surface where they meet. Specifically, first, both end portions 10 and 11 of the packaging band are overlapped, and a stand 15 having a groove 14 in the curved surface into which a heating blade (described later) enters is placed on both end portions 1.
Place it on the surface opposite to the heating blades 0 and 11, and align the entire overlapped part with the curved surface of the table 15,

Next, the heating tool 17 is pushed up and several heating blades 16 are used to melt and penetrate the overlapping portions of both end portions 10 and 11 of the packaging band, forming several parallel long holes 12, and at the same time Melted part 13 on the peripheral wall
form. In this case, the heating blade 16 enters into the groove 14 of the stand 15 (11th
figure). In order to penetrate the heating blade 16 into both end portions 10 and 11 of the packing band, as shown in FIG.
The heating blade 16
When inserted through the lower end portion 11 and inserted into the upper end portion 10, the two do not separate. Further, following the step shown in FIG. 11, the heating tool 17 is lowered and the heating blade 16
Pull it out (Figure 12). This completes the entire process, and as shown in FIG. 13, several parallel long holes 12 are formed in both end portions 10 and 11 of the packing band.
Moreover, a melted part 13 is formed on the peripheral wall of the elongated hole 12, in which the parts melted by the heating blades 16 at each end of the packaging band are connected, so that both end parts 10,
11 are joined. FIG. 15 is an enlarged view of the elongated hole 12 in this state, and both end portions 10 and 11 of the packing band are stretched over the entire surface of the combined surface of the base 15 through tension on the curved surface. Because they are maintained so that they do not separate, they do not separate when the heating blade 16 is inserted, and therefore the parts melted by the heating blade 16 on both sides are properly connected, resulting in a thick Both end portions can be joined not only with packing bands but also with extremely thin packing bands, and since there is no gap between both end portions as in the conventional method, the melted portion enters the gap between both end portions. If a part of the molten part becomes thin, no sagging occurs, and therefore there is no need to use a pressing body to press the molten part from above and below to make the thickness uniform, and the heating blade 16 can be pulled out at the same time as the heating blade 16 is pulled out. The state is the same as that shown in FIG. 6, that is, the melted portion has a substantially uniform thickness throughout the top and bottom.

As described above, the present invention maintains both end portions of the packing band through a curved table so that they do not separate over the entire surface of their joined surfaces, and in this state, penetrates and melts the heating blade. from,
It is possible to join both ends of not only a thick packing band but also an extremely thin packing band. In addition, since it is possible to use an inexpensive thin band and also one made of a material that is not very strong, it is possible to use synthetic resin stretched tape or synthetic resin stretched tape as the base material in addition to plastic bands. Composite tapes can now be used, and because they are inexpensive, packaging costs can be significantly reduced compared to conventional packaging costs.
