If the core materials of the ring and spoke parts need to be made of different metals or materials for this reason, it is not possible to weld their joints, so the connection between the ring part core metal and the spoke part core metal must be made using methods other than welding. Mechanical connections such as fitting, caulking, riveting, etc. must be used to provide sufficient strength.

和感を与える問題があつた。 Therefore, in the past, Japanese Utility Model Publication No. 58-42225 proposed a method in which a light alloy spoke core was mechanically connected to a round ring core made of steel using a steel connector. However, since this connector is wrapped around the outer periphery of the ring core metal, there is a step in the ring section at this location, and when a soft coating layer is formed around this, a thin wall portion is created at the connector. There was a problem with this, which caused an uncomfortable feeling when gripping the steering wheel.

する。<Purpose of the invention> The present invention was developed in consideration of the above points, and it is possible to maintain a bond between the spoke part core material and the ring part core material with sufficient strength even when the core material of the spoke part and the core metal of the ring part are made of different materials. An object of the present invention is to provide a core material for a steering wheel that can be reliably carried out and does not create defective shapes such as steps at the joint portion of a ring part.

At least the surface of the spoke core material is made of a material different from that of the ring core material, and a joining aid made of the same type of metal as the ring core material is mechanically attached to the tip of the spoke core material. A core material for a steering wheel was constructed by inserting the tip of the joining aid into the bottomed groove and welding the joint between the joining aid and the ring core metal.

is a groove with a rectangular cross section, and its width is formed to the extent that the tip of a spoke core material 3, which will be described later, can be inserted thereinto, that is, approximately the thickness of the spoke core material 3. 1 is manufactured by drawing and bending an aluminum pipe or an aluminum plate. 3
Each spoke core material 3 is formed by bending a strip-shaped steel plate into a predetermined shape as shown in FIG. The tip is inserted into the bottomed groove 2 of the ring core metal 1. 5 is a joining aid used for the joining part of the ring part core metal 1 and the spoke part core metal 3;
As shown in FIG. 5, the spoke part fixing part 5a is provided with a rivet hole for riveting to the back surface of the spoke part core material 3, and the spoke part core material 3 is attached to the bottomed groove part 2 of the ring part core metal 1. The ring part insertion part 5b is fitted on both sides of the ring part insertion part 5b.
is divided into two parts at the bottom of the spoke part fixing part 5a,
The joining aid 5 is formed by being slightly bent forward, and is made integrally by press working or the like using the same type of metal as the ring core metal 1. Note that similar metals refer to metals whose main metal materials are the same and which can be welded with sufficient strength.

It is inserted into the bottomed groove 2 of the part core metal 1, and in this state, the joint parts of the ring part core metal 1 and the joining aid 2, which are made of the same metal, are welded to complete the steering wheel core material.

部に必要充分な強度をもたせることができる。 The core material for the steering wheel is then set in a molding die, and injection molding of soft synthetic resin such as urethane or vinyl chloride is performed using this core material as an insert to form a coating layer. Since the bottomed groove part 2 of the part core bar 1 is also filled with resin, this serves to prevent the coating layer from rotating, and it is possible to prevent the coating layer of the ring part from peeling off due to twisting. In addition, the tip of the coupling aid 5 as well as the tip of the spoke core material 3 is also connected to the bottomed groove portion 2 of the ring portion core 1.
Since the ring part and the spoke part are fitted into each other, the joining part between the ring part and the spoke part can be provided with necessary and sufficient strength without making the joining aid 5 so large.

る。 The spoke member core material 3 and the coupling aid 5 may be coupled by mechanical means such as caulking in addition to riveting. Furthermore, in the above embodiment, the spoke part core material 3 is made of steel, and the ring part core material and the coupling aid are made of aluminum, but the reverse combination may be used, or various other metals may be used. Furthermore, in addition to metal, ceramics, FRP, synthetic resin with high rigidity, synthetic resin with steel inserts, or a combination of a plurality of materials can also be used for the spoke core material 3.

It becomes possible to increase the diameter by that amount, which increases the degree of freedom in design. Further, since the tips of the spoke part core material and the coupling aid are fitted into the bottomed grooves of the ring part core metal, sufficient coupling strength can be obtained without increasing the size of the coupling aid.

The degree of freedom in design is increased, and a lightweight, high-strength steering wheel can be manufactured at low cost.
