Abstract

PURPOSE:To eliminate dullness of edges and to stabilize toughness of a weld zone by executing scarfing by an edge mirror with respect to steel strips divided in the longitudinal direction by a shearing system. CONSTITUTION:When a hot coil to be base metal of a resistance welded steel tube is divided into many pieces in the longitudinal direction by the shearing system, the edges 2 become dull 3. The steel strips 1 whose edges become dull are subjected to scarfing by the edge mirror 8 to eliminate the dullness 3 of the edges 2. By this method, pressing adhesion of a structure with high hardness with request to the matrix due to segregation of the central part of wall thickness of the coil or MnS to the weld zone 5 of the resistance welded steel tube is controlled to the minimum and the toughness of the weld zone 5 is improved.

Therefore, an increasing number of customers are demanding electric resistance welded steel pipes with excellent low-temperature toughness. In the case of electric resistance welded steel pipes, when the pipe size (outside diameter) falls below a certain level, a rolled coil is sheared into a steel strip divided into multiple strips in the longitudinal direction. As shown, sag 3 occurs at the edge portion 2 of the sheared steel strip 1, and the segregated portion 4 at the center of the wall thickness of the rolled coil also sag 3 in the direction of the shear stress. This is generally formed and welded as is, and in this case, as shown in FIG.
There was a problem in that the low temperature toughness of the welded part required by the customer could not be fully satisfied because the weld was crimped parallel to the .

As shown in Fig. 3, a continuously cast slab of steel containing Mn, P, S, etc. has C, M at the center of the wall thickness of the slab 6.
Segregation parts 4 such as n, P, and S are generated. Due to the segregation of these components, pearlite, bainite, and island martensite structures, which have higher hardness than the matrix, are formed in the thick center of the hot coil rolled from the slab, and MJ'IS is also present. Become. When such a hot coil is divided into multiple strips in the longitudinal direction by shearing, a sag 3 at the edge 2 occurs as shown in Figure 1. If this is welded by electric resistance welding as it is, it will form a matrix as shown in Figure 2. On the other hand, tissue parts with high hardness and MnS are ERW welded parts 5
, they are crushed almost parallel to each other, and they become brittle fracture initiation points and fracture propagation paths, deteriorating toughness.

The present invention uses an edge mirror to remove sagging caused by shearing. As a result, the microstructure with high hardness against the matrix due to segregation in the central part of the wall thickness of the coil, and the stress on the electric resistance welded part of Mng are suppressed to a minimum, and the toughness of the welded part is improved.
