For display purposes, video data is subjected to -H analog-to-digital conversion (hereinafter referred to as A/D conversion) and then enlarged and interpolated to increase the number of pixels, using an apparatus as shown in FIG. In the figure, 1
is an analog-to-digital converter (hereinafter referred to as A/D) that converts an analog video signal input into a digital signal, and the output is stored in the data memory 2. 3 is data memory 2
The enlargement interpolation processing circuit enlarges and interpolates the image data output from the image data, and enlarges and interpolates the image data using a method described later. The enlarged interpolation processing circuit 3 is usually made up of dedicated hardware or a programmable microprocessor, and its output is stored in the recording storage device 4.

なる。(Problems to be solved by R-ming) Incidentally, among the co-occurrence methods, method (3) has the advantage of fast processing speed, but the image is simply enlarged, resulting in a mosaic-like screen. In particular, as the magnification increases, the mosaic shape becomes more conspicuous, giving the image a rough feel. Method (2) takes the average of neighboring point data, so it is possible to obtain a natural enlarged image, but it feels like it lacks sharpness. This method requires longer processing time than method (2).

In the figure, 11 compares 2i1 data such as image data and characters on the overlay lane among the input digital data from the data memory 2 with a set reference value, and for white signal data exceeding the reference value, A comparison discriminator that determines binary data, and if all data is below a reference value, determines it as image data, and discriminates between binary data and image data.Comparator control signal from a controller (not shown) On/off control is performed by Also, it is possible to change the reference value. 12 is a selector that selectively separates the data from the data memory 2 into image data and binary data based on the discrimination result signal from the comparison/discriminator 11; The image data is output to an approximate value expansion interpolation processing circuit (hereinafter referred to as an approximate value interpolation circuit) 14. The outputs from the pixel interpolation circuit 13 and the approximate value interpolation circuit 14 are output from the respective interpolation circuits in the order of pixel addresses and combined as enlarged interpolation data.

The signal is converted into an analog signal by an A converter (hereinafter referred to as D/A), and is a composite signal of image data and a signal having a difference in signal level, such as binary data on an overlay. In the figure, 31 is a D/A having a data input terminal 32 and a reference white terminal 33, which inputs image data to the data input terminal 32 and performs normal D/A conversion, and overlays input to the reference white terminal 33. data outputs the highest brightness analog signal. Therefore, in the analog video signal input to A/D1, 2

The comparison/discriminator 11 compares the input image data with a reference value, discriminates between image data and binary data, and inputs a signal of the discrimination result to the selector 12 . The selector 12 opens the gate to the pixel interpolation circuit 13 if the determination result is the white level, and opens the gate to the approximate value interpolation circuit 14 if the determination result is the image data level. The video data from the data memory 2 is simultaneously input to the selector 12, and is input to the pixel interpolation circuit 13 or the approximate value interpolation circuit 14, respectively, by the gates opened for each type of data.

As a result, a natural enlarged interpolated image can be obtained from the image data, and an image with a sharp boundary 0 contour can be obtained from the binary data on the overlay plane. Furthermore, since a degree of freedom is given to the selection of the level and method of this discrimination, it is now possible to obtain an enlarged interpolated image suitable for the purpose.
