Abstract

PURPOSE:To move a strip wiper at a high speed, to prevent the surface of the strip from damage and to elongate its life by constituting the title wiper in such a manner that all the external periphery of a metallic roller of small diameter is supported by a pneumatic fluid bearing. CONSTITUTION:Compressed air supplied to an air duct inside a bearing 1 is poured into the bearing through an orifice A to raise rollers 2, 2 by the pressure of the compressed air. Load is generated by a cylinder 6 mounted on the bearing 1 or a pressing device provided with a spring, etc., between the upper and lower roller 2, 2. When a strip 7 is passed between the rollers, the gap between the rollers 2, 2 is enlarged by the cylinder 6 and the strip 7 can easily pass through the gap. In order that coolant is prevented from coming in from the gap D between the upper and the lower roller at the end of the strip, an air nozzle which can move in the length direction of a roller barrel from the outlet side of the strip to the inlet side can be mounted.

Conventionally, strip wipers disposed before and after a rolling mill include a rubber tube wiper, a rubber roller wiper, an air wiper, a metal roller wiper, and the like. Rubber tube type wipers slide on the strip surface, so when a foreign object gets caught in the strip surface, it causes scratches on the strip surface, making it difficult to rotate at a high speed of 300 m/min. However, due to the poor shape and strip edges, there were problems such as rapid wear of the rubber tube and short life. Further, since the rubber roller type wiper is a rolling type, the occurrence of scratches is prevented, but the lifespan is short as described above. Air-type wipers blow coolant away by blowing air, so they are effective when the amount of coolant on the strip surface is minute, but it is impossible to remove a large amount of coolant.

There is a metal roller wiper that achieves the above purpose. The amount of oil remaining after wiping with a metal roller wiper is proportional to the square root of the roller diameter. Therefore, in order to have high wiping performance, it is necessary to reduce the diameter of the roller. Conventionally, in small metal roller wipers with a roller diameter of 3 to 20% of the strip width, supporting only the end of the roll causes the roller to curve due to low rigidity, making it impossible to obtain high wiping performance. As shown in Fig. 9, the roller body length is supported by a backing bearing.

In such a roller wiper, since there is a gap between the backing bearings, there is a problem in that coolant adheres to the strip after wiping through this gap. Additionally, since small-diameter roller bearings were used to support the long roller body, there was a limit to the speed of the rolling line.

The present invention completely blocks the front and rear of the wiper by supporting the long body of the small-diameter metal roller with an air-based fluid bearing.
It can prevent coolant from adhering. Furthermore, since the rollers are floating due to the pneumatic fluid bearings, the speed of the rolling line is not limited. Furthermore, since it is a transfer type, there will be no scratches on the strip. In addition, since it is a metal roller, there is less wear and the backing bearing mark is not transferred compared to the split backing bearing type, so the replacement pitch is very long.

The air bearing, which is a feature of the present invention, has an orifice shown in section A in FIG. 1, and an air chamber divided into a plurality of sections in the longitudinal direction of the roller body, shown in section B in FIG. 3. Without this, if the rollers are tilted due to some external force as shown in Figure 4, the gap between the bearing and the rollers will become uneven, and the compressed air in the bearing's internal air flow path will be absorbed by the widening gap. The air on the narrower side of the gap does not lose pressure, and the roller and bearing come into contact, causing scratches on the roller surface. However, according to the present invention, as shown in FIG. 5, in an air bearing equipped with an orifice and a plurality of air chambers, even if the shaft is tilted, the orifice acts as a resistance, and the air in the air flow path inside the bearing is Since a predetermined pressure is maintained and air is supplied to the side where the gap is narrowed, the roller does not come into contact with the bearing, allowing stable rotation.

An embodiment of the present invention will be explained below with reference to FIG. 1. As shown in FIG. The compressed air flows inside the bearing, and the pressure of the compressed air causes the roller to float. Further, as shown in FIG. 3, a cylinder 6 or a pressing device using a spring or the like is attached to the bearing, thereby generating a load between the upper and lower rollers.

Furthermore, when threading the strip 7, the cylinder 6 widens the distance between the rollers, making it easier to thread the strip. In addition, in order to prevent coolant from entering from above and below the strip ends and between the rollers as shown in section D in Fig. 3, coolant should enter from the exit side of the strip toward section D as shown in Fig. 1. In some cases, an air nozzle is installed toward the side and movable in the longitudinal direction of the roller cylinder.

In other embodiments, when using an extremely small roller with a roller diameter of 20 to 100 mm, the system shown in Fig. 1 has a small bearing projected area and cannot provide sufficient support force. As shown in the figure, two backup rollers 3 are arranged at a certain angle with respect to the wiping roller 2,
By supporting the long body portion of the backup roller 3 with the air bearing 1, pressing force is ensured and high wiping performance can be obtained by the small diameter roller.
