Abstract

PURPOSE:To simply prevent the corrosion of the joint between a stakes or coated steel pipes joined by welding at a low cost by press-bonding or melt- bonding a rubber-asphalt sheet contg. a thin special PE film as a core material to the entire periphery of the joint. CONSTITUTION:A rubber-asphalt sheet contg. a special PE film of <=500mum thickness as a core material is press-bonded or melt-bonded to the entire periphery of the joint between stakes or coated steel pipes joined by welding. The sheet prevents chemical corrosion due to air and steam leaking in the joint. Since the sheet has superior electric insulating property, electric corrosion is effectively prevented and the corrosion preventing effect is enhanced.

When a rubber asphalt sheet with high tensile elongation and high adhesiveness is pasted on a steel surface, the leveling phenomenon of the rubber asphalt and Van der Wals' force act on the interface, and as a result of the pasting, interfacial damage occurs. Ta.

Since air and water vapor do not leak from the outside to the adhesive surface where this sheet is adhered to the steel surface, oxidation of the steel surface is completely prevented as there is no contact with air or water vapor on the steel surface of the adhesive part. In addition, this rubber asphalt sheet has excellent electrical insulation properties, which prevents electrolytic corrosion and has a remarkable corrosion-preventing effect.

If the overlap joint is simply crimped and bonded, the bond strength will be 10% of the bonding work against the stress that is applied over a long period of time.
Since it is considered to be about 8 to 10" erg/cd, which is too small, this portion is welded to improve the adhesive strength.

Example 1 As a corrosion protection method for welded joints of steel pipes used in the sea or underwater, if the bonded end of a rubber asphalt sheet is submerged in water for a long period of time and is subjected to the low stress caused by the flow of water, the bond strength will decrease due to the adhesive work. Since the strength is estimated to be about the same, a shrinkable polyethylene tube with a width of 100 mm is heat-shrinked and attached to prevent peeling at the ends.

The construction of the rubber asphalt sheet is the same as shown in Figures 2 and 3. After the polyethylene tube is inserted in advance and the rubber asphalt sheet is installed, it is heated and shrunk using a propane burner and attached. This prevents peeling of the ends.
