Abstract

PURPOSE:To perform easy and reliable removal of burrs, by a method wherein a work is contained in a container in a state to be immersed in liquid, ultrasonic energy is applied on the liquid, and the interior of the container is held in an airtight state to increase an internal pressure. CONSTITUTION:A work 3 is contained in a container 1 in a state to be immersed directly in liquid 4, an internal pressure is increased with the aid of an air compressor 13 to exert a pressure on air contained in the liquid 4, and air bubbles are removed. Thus, a cavitation threshold is improved, and when, with this state, ultrasonic energy is on the liquid 4 by means of an ultrasonic vibrator 9, production and rupture are effected by means of energy having high cavitation, and a high erosion action can be created. Therefore, burrs can be effectively removed, and when the work 3 has a thick section and a member in a complicated shape and burrs are adhered to an inner edge, burrs can be easily, rapidly, and reliably removed.

When using this ultrasonic deburring device, compared to the case where grinding was performed one by one by machining,
Although it became more efficient because it could deburr multiple pieces at the same time, it was still insufficient in terms of performance. Therefore, several improvements have been made to conventional ultrasonic deburring devices. As one of them, for example, JP-A-60-232
A configuration as shown in Japanese Patent No. 856 is known. In this device, a deburring plate is held in a container sandwiched between two polishing films, and the container is placed in water in the water tank of an ultrasonic cleaner. By applying ultrasonic vibration to the polishing film, relative movement occurs between the polishing film and the deburring plate material, and deburring is performed.

(Problem to be Solved by the Invention) However, in this conventional device, when the deburring plate is held between two polishing films, the deburring plate is attached to the surface of the plate by relative movement based on ultrasonic vibration. However, it is not possible to remove burrs attached to the end face of a thick member or the inner edge of a member with a complicated shape.

The lid 5 is mounted on the flange 2 of the container 1 via a gasket 6 so as to cover the upper opening of the container 1 in an openable and closable manner. A plurality of fasteners 7, which constitute a sealing means together with the lid 5 and the gasket 6, are attached to straddle the outer peripheral edge of the lid 5 and the flange 2 of the container 1, and tighten the bolts 8 to close the lid 5 to the container 1. The inside of the container 1 is kept airtight by being brought into close contact with the upper surface of the container 1.

Now, when using this ultrasonic deburring device to remove burrs from a workpiece, the workpiece 3 is housed in a container 1 and a deburring liquid 4 is supplied into the container 1. Then, the workpiece 3 is immersed in the liquid 4. Thereafter, the lid 5 is placed on the container 1 via the packing 6, and the lid 5 is brought into close contact with the upper surface of the container 1 by a plurality of fasteners 7, thereby making the inside of the container 1 airtight. When the ultrasonic oscillator 10 is operated in this state, ultrasonic waves are generated from the ultrasonic vibrator 9, and the entire liquid 4 is ultrasonically vibrated. Then, the burr attached to the workpiece 3 is removed by the erosion effect caused by the generation and rupture of cavitation based on this ultrasonic vibration. Therefore, even if there is burr on the end face of a thick workpiece or on the inner edge of a workpiece with a complex shape, the burr will not come into contact with the liquid 4. It will definitely be removed. At this time, since the inside of the container 1 is in a pressurized state, pressure is applied to the air contained in the liquid, removing air bubbles and increasing the cavitation threshold. Therefore, the energy of cavitation generation and rupture is greater than that under normal pressure, and burrs can be easily and reliably removed in a short time. In addition, deburring can be performed simply by arbitrarily arranging the workpiece 3 in the container 1 without considering the arrangement of the workpiece 3, and the work efficiency can be improved. Further, since the workpiece 3 is immersed in the liquid 4, the surface of the workpiece 3 can be cleaned and finished at the same time as deburring, and finishing treatment after deburring can also be performed.

Note that the present invention is not limited to the configuration of the above-mentioned embodiments, and various parts may be modified without departing from the spirit of the present invention, such as a configuration in which ultrasonic vibrations are applied to the liquid 4 through the container 1.
