(Prior art) In a device for depositing cash, bills are input into a customer service section in bulk and are separated and counted one by one in a separating/counting section, and then conveyed to a bill recognition section where they are checked for authenticity, denomination, etc. However, the banknotes that are determined to be fake by the banknote identification unit are accumulated in a temporary storage pool for fake banknotes, and are conveyed again through the separation and counting unit until a predetermined number of times is reached, and then the banknote identification unit determines the authenticity. Denominations are being determined. Then, the authenticity is determined a predetermined number of times,
If there are banknotes that are determined to be counterfeit even after denomination discrimination, the banknotes determined to be counterfeit are returned to the customer.

(Problem to be Solved by the Invention) Conventionally, in such a device, deposited banknotes that are determined to be fake by the banknote recognition unit are those whose edges are bent or those that have been inserted folded in half. There are many cases where a medium other than banknotes is mistakenly mixed into a banknote bundle, or the deposited banknotes skew while traveling on the conveyance path, and the stacking condition of the banknotes in the temporary storage pool for counterfeit banknotes is often poor. In this way, if the accumulated state of banknotes in the fake banknote temporary storage pool is poor, and the banknotes are separated and counted again at the separation/counting unit and transported, the re-identification result will also be bad, and the banknotes may run abnormally, and then be transported. There is a drawback that problems such as banknote jamming occur.

Further, a mechanism for reliably correcting or removing folded banknotes and media other than banknotes has not been realized, but even if it were realized, it would be complicated and expensive.

(Means for Solving the Problems) The present invention provides a detection means for detecting the accumulation state of banknotes accumulated in the above-mentioned temporary counterfeit banknote storage pool, and a detection signal from the detection means to determine whether there is an abnormality in the accumulation state. The present invention includes means for determining, and conveying means for sorting and sending the counterfeit bills to either the banknote identification section or the return slot according to the determination.

(Function) The present invention detects the accumulation state of banknotes accumulated in the temporary counterfeit banknote pool section using the above-mentioned detection means, and detects abnormalities in the banknotes such as folding in two, bending corners, or tilting, which may hinder the running of the banknotes. The above-mentioned determination means determines whether the banknote is present, and if it is determined to be good, the authenticity of the banknote is determined again, and if it is determined to be no, the banknote is immediately returned to the customer and the customer is prompted to reinsert it. This makes it possible to prevent problems such as jams from occurring on the road, thereby improving the reliability of the device.

(Effects of the Invention) As described above, according to the abnormal banknote handling method according to the present invention, as a result of determining the authenticity of banknotes by the banknote recognition unit, the process continues depending on the condition of the banknotes determined to be fake. Since the banknotes have to be re-discriminated or returned to the customer and re-inserted, there is an advantage in that it is possible to prevent problems such as jamming of banknotes that would occur if the banknotes were not stacked properly. In addition, there is no need for a mechanism to correct or remove folded banknotes or media other than banknotes, or a mechanism to align stacked banknotes.
This has the advantage that the device can be made inexpensive. Furthermore, it goes without saying that it can be implemented not only in the automatic deposit/withdrawal machine of the above embodiment but also in automatic deposit machines, counter deposit machines, counter deposit/withdrawal machines, and the like. It does not have to be a light-emitting/light-receiving sensor, and the location where this detection means is provided is not limited to the transaction port, but may also be located in a temporary counterfeit bill storage pool, a conveyance path, etc. In addition, in this embodiment, the banknote deposit slot,
Although the withdrawal ports are dual-purpose, it is of course possible to have separate ones.

[Scope of Claims] 1. Inserted banknotes are identified and sorted into genuine and counterfeit banknotes, temporarily stored in bulk, and the counterfeit banknotes are returned to the customer or sent to a banknote recognition unit to be checked again for authenticity. The automatic deposit device that performs the discrimination includes a detection means for detecting at once the state of accumulation of counterfeit bills accumulated in the temporary storage location, and a detection signal from this detection means to determine whether there is an abnormality in the accumulation state. and a conveying means that distributes and sends the counterfeit bills to either the banknote identification unit or the return slot according to this determination, and when it is determined that the stacking state is normal, the counterfeit bills are transported. The counterfeit banknotes are transported to the banknote identification unit and re-differentiated, and if it is determined that there is an abnormality in the stacked banknotes, the counterfeit banknotes are returned to the customer, and the customer is prompted to rearrange the returned banknotes and reinsert them. automatic deposit device.
