Abstract

PURPOSE: To prevent infiltration of waterdrops and dust, by providing a permeable member pressure-welded and fixed to the whole periphery of a vent hole and the inside wall of a wall part. CONSTITUTION: A vent hole 11 having an appropriate diameter is formed above a socket mounting hole 7 in a dorsal surface of a housing 2, and a cylindrical wall part 12 surrounding the vent hole 11 is provided so as to protrude backwards. A cylindrical permeable member 13 is water-tightly pressure-welded and fixed to the bottom surface and the inside wall surface of the cylindrical wall part 12 so as to block the vent hole 11. Consequently, the inside of a lamp chamber 4 of the lamp for vehicle 1 is communicated with the outside air through the permeable member 13 blocking the vent hole 11, thereby the air pressure of the inside of the lamp chamber 4 is equal to the outside air pressure to prevent the operation of breathing. Further, infiltration of waterdrops and dust is prevented by the characteristic of the permeable member 13, which enables to keep a good characteristic of light distribution at all times.

(Prior Art) In general, a vehicle lamp has a lens disposed on the front surface of a housing, and a lamp bulb attached to a socket is disposed in a light chamber defined by the housing and the lens. In order to prevent water from entering the lamp chamber, the housing and lens are completely sealed together using a sealant such as hot melt, or hot plate welding is used to improve the airtightness of the lamp chamber. However, as the airtightness of the lamp chamber is improved, when the lamp bulb is turned on, the internal pressure of the lamp chamber rises rapidly due to heat generation, and when the lamp is turned off, the internal pressure decreases. This repeated turning on and off causes a so-called breathing effect due to changes in internal pressure; for example, moisture from outside the lamp is transmitted through the cord core wire of the socket, absorbed into the lamp chamber, and this moisture condenses into dew in the low-temperature parts. As a result, cloudiness occurs on the inner surface of the lens or the reflective surface of the reflector. In addition, the higher the airtightness of the lamp chamber, the more difficult it is for the moisture that has entered the lamp chamber to be discharged outside the lamp chamber and is not removed. A similar phenomenon occurs even in pseudo lamps without a light source, such as reflex reflectors and finishers, due to the difference in outside temperature between day and night.

For this reason, in order to keep the internal pressure of the lamp chamber constant, eliminate the breathing effect, and prevent moisture from entering, conventional vehicle lamps have housings molded from thermoplastic resin, as shown in Figure 12. a and lens b on a hot plate 1? A lamp bulb C attached to a socket e having a code f is arranged in a lamp chamber d, and ventilation holes q are formed at upper and lower positions in the rear of the housing a.
There is a light fixture that has a curved cylindrical rubber grommet h that communicates with the grommets h.

(Problems to be Solved by the Invention) However, in such a conventional lamp structure, for example, in a lamp such as a front combination lamp or a side marker lamp of a car, high-pressure water is directly applied to the back of the lamp during car washing. Even if the grommet h is curved, there is a problem in that water may enter the lamp chamber from its opening as shown by the arrow ρ. In addition, since the grommet h protrudes from the back of the housing a, it interferes with the vehicle body panel (not shown), which is not only inconvenient, but also causes problems such as the grommet h easily coming off. However, since the inner diameters of the ventilation hole q and the grommet h are set small, the breathing effect has not been sufficiently reduced. That is, in the conventional type, if the inner diameter of the ventilation hole Q and the grommet h are increased, air convection can be improved and the breathing effect can be reduced, but on the other hand, if the inner diameter of the grommet h is set large, dust, etc. Regardless of the effect, the dust tends to enter the lamp chamber, and the invading dust contaminates the inner surface of the lens and the reflector, resulting in a reduction in light distribution performance.

This breathable member 13 is composed of a continuous porous member 14, a reinforcing member 15 surrounding the outer periphery of the continuous porous member 14, and a waterproof member 16 further surrounding the outer periphery. The continuous porous member 14 is made of, for example, tetrafluoroethylene resin (PTFE),
It has open cells, allowing air and gas to pass through it, but does not allow water droplets to pass through. It has breathability and water repellency, and is also flexible. Each of the members 15 and 16 is made of an elastic material such as rubber, and the reinforcing member 15 surrounding the continuous porous member 14 is made of a hard material, while the waterproof member 16 is made of a soft material. These members 15, 16 are contracted by applying heat and are respectively fixed watertightly to the inner member. As another example, an adhesive layer may be interposed between each member for fixation. As shown in FIG. 2, this breathable member 13 is extruded into an elongated cylindrical shape, and is used by cutting it into a required length. Therefore, in this breathable member 13, the hard reinforcing member 15 maintains the shape of the flexible continuous porous member 14, and the soft waterproof member 16 is elastically pressed against the inner wall and fixed in a watertight manner within the wall portion 12. be done.

(Effects of the Invention) As described above, the vehicle lamp according to the present invention has a ventilation hole for communicating the airtight interior space with outside air, and a wall portion surrounding the ventilation hole, which has good air permeability and repellency. Since it is sealed watertightly with a water-based breathable member, the internal space and the outside have the same atmospheric pressure, preventing the breathing effect due to the difference in atmospheric pressure, and making it possible to maintain desired light distribution characteristics for a long time. In addition, the breathable member includes a continuous porous member having water repellency and air permeability, a hard reinforcing member surrounding the outer periphery of the continuous porous member, and a soft waterproof member surrounding the outer periphery of the reinforcing member. This is fixed in a watertight manner to the entire periphery of the ventilation hole and the inner wall surface within the wall, so there is no risk of water droplets or dust entering the internal space. Furthermore, since the outer periphery of the continuous porous member is surrounded by the hard member, its shape is maintained and the holes are not crushed during press-fitting.
