Abstract

PURPOSE: To shorten the multiple code/pattern conversion processing time in plural lines by storing characters, which are already subjected to code/pattern conversion, in a memory and eliminating a need of access between a pattern generation part and a pattern editing part with respect to stored patterns. CONSTITUTION: When information to a line (i) is given from a higher order, it is inputted to a pattern editing part 2i corresponding to the line (i) and is analyzed; and if it is a character code, conversion from the character to a pattern is requested to a pattern generation part 1. This part 1 returns the pattern, to which the character is converted, to the pattern editing part 2i , and the character pattern is stored in a frame memory 3i of the pattern editing part 2i . With respect to the character pattern, the storage position on the frame memory 3i and a registered mark are stored in a working memory 4i . When a new character pattern is inputted to the pattern editing part 2, it is checked by the working memory whether the character is already registered or not; and if it is already registered, the pattern is taken out from the frame memory 3 and is used. Thus, the processing speed is increased.

Conventional technology Conventionally, this type of ;- code/pattern conversion processing, when targeting multiple lines, uses a common pattern generation section in multiple processing, and performs code/pattern conversion (editing) individually. For conversion of the K1 character, each line common power was accessed once between the pattern generation section and the pattern conversion section.

Problems to be Solved by the Invention However, in the conventional code/pattern conversion processing method described above, the processing speed is low because the access between the pattern generation section and the pattern editing section must be made once for every seven characters converted. The disadvantage is that it is slow.

It enters the pattern editing section 1 corresponding to the line 1, where it is analyzed and, if it is a one-character code, requests the pattern generation section 1 to convert the character into a pattern. The pattern generated by the pattern generating section l is returned to the pattern editing section 21. The character pattern is stored in a frame memory 31 inside the pattern editing section 1. Furthermore, the storage location on the frame memory 31 and the registered mark regarding the character pattern are stored in the working memory 41i.

DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION According to the present invention, characters that have already undergone code/pattern conversion are stored in the memory and stored, and the stored patterns need to be accessed again between the pattern generation section and the pattern editing section. Since this eliminates unnecessary processing, it is possible to reduce the time required for multiplex code/pattern conversion processing in multiple lines.

In multiple processing of code/pattern conversion for multiple lines, a pattern generator is provided that inputs a character code and converts the character code into a pattern, and develops the pattern on the screen memory according to information given from a higher level. It has an editing section for each line, and once the code is converted into a pattern, it is stored in the frame memory in the pattern editing section and registered in the internal working memory, and when the same character code is input later, it is first stored in the internal working memory. A code/pattern conversion method characterized in that the code/pattern conversion method is configured to check whether the pattern has been registered in a memory, and to take out the pattern from the frame memory when it is confirmed that the pattern has been registered.
