Generally, in automobile meters, the transparency of the transparent cover is fixed and cannot be changed, regardless of whether it is colorless or colored. Therefore, during the daytime when sunlight is strong, the meter surface is sometimes too bright and difficult to see. If you use a thick transparent cover to prevent this,
Even if you turn on the night light, it becomes difficult to see.

Therefore, an object of the present invention is to provide a meter that can freely adjust the brightness of the meter surface, that is, a variable density meter. The purpose of this is to insert a film with varying transparency between the meter and its transparent cover, and then wind the film as necessary to position the transparent part between the meter and the transparent cover to achieve the desired brightness. This can be achieved by Hereinafter, the present invention will be explained with reference to the drawings.

Fig. 1 shows an example in which the present invention is applied to an automobile meter cluster, and Fig. 2 shows its A-
A cross section taken in the direction of arrow A is shown. In these figures, 1 is the meter dial, etc., 2 is the meter pointer, 3 is the transparent cover, 4 is the dash board, 5 and 6 are the upper and lower take-up rollers, and 7 is the meter whose transparency gradually increases in the vertical direction. It is a film that is changing. The take-up rollers 5 and 6 are rotatably supported by a dash board or the like at both the upper and lower ends of the meter on the back side of the transparent cover 3, and both take-up rollers 5 and 6 are supported by interlocking belts or gears (both not shown). and are connected to each other so that they can be rotated by rotating the adjustment dial 8. The film 7 has both ends attached to both take-up rollers 5 and 6, and is stretched between the transparent cover 3 and the meter dial 1. Therefore, by rotating the adjustment dial 8, the dark or light parts of the film 7 are sequentially positioned behind the transparent cover 3, and the brightness of the meter surface can be freely selected. The film 7 may be gradated from black to gray to colorless, or may be appropriately colored and gradated from dark to light.

Furthermore, in this embodiment, for convenience in adjusting the density, a display section is provided at the side end of the film 7 to indicate the amount of transparency, so that the selected amount of shading of the film 7 can be displayed. In other words, a display window 10 is opened in a portion of the meter panel 9 corresponding to the side edge of the film 7, and a diagonal display is formed in a specific conspicuous color at the side edge of the film 7 as shown in FIG. 3a. Either a band 7a as a symbol is printed (graphical method), or a number 7b is printed as a display section as shown in FIG. 3b (numerical method). In the case of the graph method, the degree of shading can be confirmed by the width of the band 7a visible from the display window 10, and in the case of the numerical method, it can be confirmed by the displayed numerical value.

As described above, in the variable density meter of the present invention, the brightness of the meter such as the meter cluster can be freely selected for easy viewing according to the brightness of the environment. In other words, the illumination brightness adjustment of the meter can be used both day and night, as well as when sunlight is strong. Furthermore, since electricity is not used to adjust the brightness, there is no need for heat generation.
