(実施例)
以下添付図面に基づいて本発明を適用した画像形成装置
の一実施例装置として両面複写または多重複写可能な複
写装置について説明する。記録材としての複写用紙Pに
両面複写及び多毛複写を行なう複写装置Mは、第2図に
示すように、装置本体略々中央部に感光体6を備えた画
像形成部として複写部5を有すると共に、機体上部には
原稿台2を備えている。そして該原稿台2の下方には走
査系3か設けられており、また機体右方にはシートカセ
ット7.9からなるシート給送部11が構成されており
、これらにはそれぞれ給紙ローラ13゜15が設けられ
ている。また、シートカセット7゜9の上方には、該カ
セットに収納されている記録材の湿度を検出する湿度セ
ンサ80が配設されている。上記感光体6近傍にはレジ
ストローラ19.転写器20が配設され、さらに搬送ベ
ルト21、定着型2122が配置されている。この定着
装置22から複写用紙Pの搬送方向へ下流には第1のフ
ラッパ23が設けられ、該フラッパ23は排出搬送路P
a側、あるいは、再給送を行なうための中間ストック装
置30へ導く再給送搬送路pb側の二方向に切換えられ
る。上記中間ストック装置30には、第1のフラッパ2
3から複写用紙Pの搬送方向へ下流に、第2のフラッパ
29をはじめとして、複写用紙Pの再給送用の中間トレ

置を通過した複写用紙は、定着ローラ221及び加圧ロ
ーラ222間で両面から等しく適度な加熱がなされるの
で、カールの発生原因となる湿度が両面で等しく低下し
、カール発生防止の処理が十分なされていること、及び
、加圧ローラ222内の熱源225への通電を停止して
も、その直後であれば加圧ローラは余熱を有しており、
もし−回定着装置を通過した後、複写用紙か搬送過程で
吸湿しても、この余熱により十分なカール発生防止がな
されるからである。このように二回目以後の制御手段に
よる制御を停止状態とすることで、両面若しくは多重複

像形成時には第一回目の定着時のみ制御状態としたので
、消費電力が大幅に低減化される。これに伴ない加圧ロ
ーラ内の過昇温が防止されるため、加圧ローラの耐用寿
命か延びると共に、周辺機器の加熱による障害も生じな

り前方位置にて検出する湿度検出センサと、 上記湿度検出センサから受ける検出信号値が、設定され
た許容湿度に対応する値以上の場合、上記加圧ローラ内
部の熱源に通電し、加圧ローラ表面温度を所定温度にま
