Description
This invention relates to a lure.
In recent years, fishing has become increasingly popular as an outdoor leisure activity. Among the various forms of fishing, lure fishing involves attaching a hook to a lure, which is a fake bait designed to resemble a fish, and then connecting the fishing line to this lure.
A lure is attached to a fishing line wound on a reel mounted on a fishing rod. By holding the base end of the fishing rod and swinging the tip downwards, the rod's flexibility, combined with the inertial force of the lure's weight, pulls the lure out, allowing it to be cast.
As described above, when casting a lure, the weight embedded in the lure is one of the factors that contribute to achieving a certain casting distance. Therefore, the position and weight of the weight are considered during the design phase. However, there are limitations to what can be achieved with weight alone.
On the other hand, if you pursue design by incorporating unprecedented shapes, there is a risk that the shape will not take air resistance into consideration, which can lead to problems such as reduced flight distance.
See, for example, Patent Document 1.
In this Patent Document 1, a lure is proposed with the aim of giving movement to the lure body and obtaining a high fish-attracting effect, comprising a lure body and a plate-shaped blade attached to the lure body so as to be able to twist relative to the lure body but so as to restrict its rotation, and configured so that when the blade is subjected to a water flow, the blade twists relative to the lure body while its rotation is restricted, thereby causing yawing of the lure body (see Patent Document 1).
With this type of lure, when the blade is subjected to water current, its rotation is restricted and it twists relative to the lure body, causing the lure body to yawing. This movement resembles that of a small fish, and because target fish react to this movement, a fish-attracting effect is achieved.
Furthermore, because the blade oscillates, the light reflected by the blade's surface becomes irregular, and target fish react to this reflected light, resulting in a fish-attracting effect.
Thus, while this lure claims to attract fish by giving the lure body movement, the external shape of the lure body is not designed with casting distance in mind, and the weight distribution of the lure as a whole does not change the movement of the lure body; it is merely a conventional external shape and does not take design into consideration.
In other words, the aforementioned lure cannot be said to have been created under the concepts of 1. having a structure that does not impair the lure's casting distance, and 2. ensuring design while suppressing air resistance.
This invention was proposed to improve upon these problems.
To improve upon the above-mentioned problems, the present invention according to claim 1 comprises a lure body having a substantially bullet-shaped outer wall portion and to which a fishing line is tied at the tip end, and a lure weight portion inside the body or a weight adjustment member on the outer wall portion of the body, wherein the center of gravity of the lure is located at the rear end of the lure, and the weight adjustment member is a metal plate provided on the rear end side of the lure body, characterized in that before landing on the water, the rear end side of the lure faces forward, and after landing on the water, the tip side of the lure in the water faces forward.

The following describes preferred embodiments of the present invention in detail with reference to the drawings. However, unless otherwise specifically stated, the dimensions, materials, shapes, and relative arrangements of the components described in these embodiments are merely illustrative examples and not intended to limit the scope of the invention.
(First embodiment)
Figure 1 shows a first embodiment of the lure according to the present invention.
The lure 1 shown in Figure 1 has a body 2 that is roughly bullet-shaped. The body 2 is made from, for example, a well-known resin material (e.g., polypropylene, ABS resin) by injection molding. This body 2 has a pointed tip 2t and a cylindrical part 2ct.
A connector 3 for attaching a fishing line is provided on the tip 2t side of this pointed shape.
Furthermore, the cylindrical portion 2ct has a cylindrical appearance, and a metal plate 4 is attached to its rear end as a weight adjustment member. A blade 5 made of a metal plate with a metallic surface luster is connected to this metal plate 4 via a connector 6.
Furthermore, hooks H, H are connected to the cylindrical portion 2ct via connectors 7, 7 near the tip 2t and near the metal plate 4 at the bottom, along the longitudinal direction.
The body 2 of the lure 1 contains a lure weight section and a molded object (described later) that serve as the weight element.
Next, I will explain the metal plate 4 attached to the bottom of the cylindrical part 2ct of the main body 2.
The metal plate 4 can be made of various metals, including brass (for example, iron, lead, tungsten, stainless steel).
Furthermore, by changing the size of the metal plate 4, the lure weight balance between the lure weight section and the metal plate 4 can be adjusted.
For example, using a brass metal plate 4 (20mm in diameter, 1mm thick, and approximately 2.55g in weight) as a standard for this lure 1, the lure's weight balance can be adjusted by changing the metal of the metal plate 4 to other materials such as iron, lead, tungsten, or stainless steel, or by changing the thickness and diameter of the metal plate 4. For instance, changing the thickness of the brass plate by 1mm allows for the distribution of approximately 5.1g of weight to the rear end of the lure's body 2.
In the lure 1 constructed as described above, the fishing line wound on the reel attached to the fishing rod is tied to the connector 3 with a sharp tip 2t. By holding the base end of the fishing rod and swinging the tip end downwards, the lure 1 can be launched by using the bending action of the fishing rod to pull the lure out against the inertial force of the lure weight section with the fishing line.
Initially, lure 1 is pulled in the casting direction by the pointed tip 2t of the main body 2 to which the fishing line is attached. As it flies in the casting direction, the force of flight in that direction eventually diminishes, causing lure 1 to stall. Since the weight of lure body 2 is set to be applied to the rear end side (Figure 3(b)) where the metal plate 4 is located, lure body 2 descends due to gravity with its rear end facing downwards, and eventually lands on the water surface rear-end first.
Furthermore, if the operation of holding the base end of the fishing rod and swinging the tip end downwards is not performed correctly, not only will the lure 1 not be able to be cast to the desired point, but it may also fall onto an obstacle such as a rock or concrete block. Even in such a case, the lure body 2 will be protected because the metal plate 4 at the rear end will hit the rock.
When lure 1 is dragged through the water by manipulating a fishing rod, the water flow from the pointed tip 2t of the main body 2 through the cylindrical section 2ct becomes turbulent behind the rear end. This turbulence causes the blade 5 connected to the rear end to oscillate, thereby giving the lure body 2 a unique movement.
When blade 5 oscillates, sunlight and other light sources are reflected irregularly, creating a flashing effect that effectively attracts fish.
(Second example)
Next, Figures 4 and 5 show the lure 10 according to the second embodiment.
The lure 10 shown in Figure 4 has a body 11 that is roughly bullet-shaped, similar to the lure 1 according to the first embodiment.
The outer wall portion of the main body 11 is made of a light-transmitting material. For example, ABS resin can be used as the light-transmitting material. This light-transmitting material forms the cylindrical portion 11ct from the pointed tip portion 11t of the main body 11.
At the rear end of the cylindrical portion 11ct, a metal plate 4 is attached to the bottom, and a blade 5 made of a thin metal plate is connected to the metal plate 4.
Furthermore, within the internal space of the lure 10, from the tip 11t to the cylindrical portion 11ct of the main body 11, are arranged a lure weight section 20 that serves as a weight element, and a sculpted object 30 that has been constructed with a design-inspired, original structure to enhance its aesthetic appeal.
The lure weight section 20 is composed of multiple individual weights W1 , W2 , W3 , and W4 . Each individual weight W1 to W4 is, for example, a spherical metal body, and can be made of iron or lead. Selecting the appropriate material contributes to adjusting the weight balance.
Next, an example of the fabricated object 30 is shown in Figure 6, and will be explained below.
The molded object 30 has a structure that mimics, for example, the skeleton of a fish (head 30h, body 30b). It is made from resin or metal materials (iron, lead, tungsten, stainless steel). In this case, not only can a single material be used, but combinations of different materials are also possible. Furthermore, such molded objects 30 are created, for example, by injection molding. By selecting the material, objects of various weights can be obtained.
Furthermore, since the molded object 30 can be visibly positioned inside the main body 11, which is made of a light-transmitting material and has a sharp-shaped tip 11t and a cylindrical portion 11ct, the molded object 30 can be designed with complete creative freedom. Therefore, such a lure body 11 can suppress the negative impact of air resistance on casting distance.
Thus, the fish skeleton-like structure 30, placed inside the main body 11 made of light-transmitting material, is visible. Therefore, the structure 30 is mistaken for small bait, thus attracting fish.
When ambient light enters the molded object 30 through the light-transmitting body 11, irregular reflected light is emitted from the metallic surface of the created object 30, providing visual stimulation to fish and thus attracting them.
As described above, a lure 10 with a decorative object 30 placed inside the main body 11 not only improves the design, but also allows for the pursuit of a design that brings about new lure characteristics, since the object 30 also functions as an element of the lure's weight.
For example, the center of gravity of the molded object 30 varies depending on its shape. Furthermore, the center of gravity of the molded object 30 also varies depending on the material used. Based on these considerations, the following attempts can be considered.
試行1
Trial 1
a. The shape (cross-sectional area) of the molded object 30 shall be such that the front part is large and tapers towards the rear part. Alternatively,
b. As a material, the front part of the molded object 30 is made using metal only.
By incorporating the created molded object 30 into the main body, the lure's center of gravity shifts forward, reducing casting distance. However, it sinks easily into the water after landing, resulting in a lure with a relatively good start to its lure movement.
試行2
Trial 2
a. The shape (cross-sectional area) of the molded object 30 shall be such that the rear part is large and tapers towards the front part. Alternatively,
b. As a material, the rear portion of the molded object 30 is made using metal only.
This shifts the lure's center of gravity to the rear, stabilizing its flight posture during casting and increasing casting distance. It also makes the lure more likely to float after hitting the water.
試行3
Attempt 3
a. The shape (cross-sectional area) of the molded object 30 is such that the front part is large, the middle part is small, and the rear part is larger in comparison to the front part.
This tends to result in a longer distance remaining in the water after the lure has been moved and sunk, compared to simply placing weight only on the rear section.
Based on the above trials, we can expect to develop a new lure with a well-balanced weight and unique characteristics.
For example, relatively small lures can be effective when fish activity is low due to the season or time of day, when there are many baitfish in the environment, or when fish become wary (become accustomed to the lure and more cautious).
On the other hand, small lures are lighter in weight and more susceptible to wind during casting, making them less effective at achieving long casting distances. However, lures designed with consideration for the center of gravity through their material and shape can mitigate the effects of wind and reduce casting distance.
The lures according to the present invention have been described above, with reference to Lure 1 according to the first embodiment and Lure 10 according to the second embodiment. In these embodiments, the weight balance is adjusted by the lure weight section 20 and the metal plate 4 attached to the bottom of the cylindrical section 2ct of the main body 2. However, the metal plate 4 may be placed at either the tip section 2t or the cylindrical section 2ct of the main body 2. By doing so, the weight balance can be further changed, affecting the casting distance and giving the lure a unique behavior when retrieved underwater.
Furthermore, in the lure 10 according to the second embodiment, the lure weight section 20 is composed of multiple individual weights W1 , W2 , W3 , and W4 , and since the individual weights W1 to W4 can be made of iron or lead, it is possible to make more precise adjustments to the lure weight balance.
Furthermore, since the structure 30 can have a novel and original design, it is possible to create structures such as diamond cuts, which are said to have a high flashing effect.
Furthermore, if, for example, a phosphorescent material is used for the molded object 30, it can absorb light energy from sunlight, artificial light, etc., and emit light for a certain period of time, which can attract fish in the surrounding area during dawn and dusk.
In addition to adopting a streamlined shape, such as that of a bullet, to minimize air resistance hindering flight distance, the lure's periphery can be modified by adding wing-like components that create water resistance. This allows for changes in the lure's trajectory during underwater movement and imparts even more unique behavior to the lure.
