Abstract

[Problem] To provide a brush cap that can be attached to brushes of various diameters with a simple structure to cover the tip of a brush, including a makeup brush, where multiple bristles are bundled together, and can keep the space around the tip moisturized at an appropriate humidity level, that is, a humidity level that is neither too high nor too low. [Solution] A brush cap 1 that can be placed on the tip 13 of a brush 10, including a makeup brush, where multiple bristles are bundled together, has a sheet-like elastic member 2 that is wound in a cylindrical, overlapping spiral shape to have a predetermined diameter, and a moisturizing member 3 that is formed in a sheet shape and attached to the inside surface of the roll of the sheet-like elastic member 2, and is wound together with the sheet-like elastic member 2, or a moisturizing member that is formed in a bag shape, contains the sheet-like elastic member, and is wound together with the sheet-like elastic member. Description

The present invention relates to a brush cap that is placed over the bundled bristles of a brush, including a cosmetic brush.

Conventionally, various brushes with a tip made of multiple bundled bristles are used as cosmetic brushes (brushes for makeup such as makeup brushes), painting brushes (brushes for painting), calligraphy brushes (brushes for calligraphy), painting brushes (brushes for painting), etc. Various brush caps that can be placed over the tips of these brushes have been disclosed.

For example, Patent Document 1 discloses a cylindrical brush cap made of synthetic resin with openings on both ends. The brush cap is made of a material that is softer than the brush shaft, the cross section of the inner surface is polygonal, and the inscribed circle of the brush cap is 0.5 mm to 1.50 mm smaller than the circumscribed circle of the brush shaft, so that it does not easily come off.

For example, Patent Document 2 discloses a brush cap formed into a cylindrical shape with openings on both ends. The brush cap has a fixed part that is fixed to the shaft of the brush and a tip storage part that stores the tip (bristles), with the inner diameter of the tip storage part being larger than the inner diameter of the fixed part. The brush cap has a fixed part formed into a bellows shape, and the inner diameter of the bellows can be changed by expanding and contracting the bellows according to the diameter of the brush shaft.

The brush cap described in Patent Document 1 must have an inner diameter of the inscribed circle that is 0.5 mm to 1.5 mm smaller than the outer diameter of the brush shaft so that it does not easily come off the brush shaft when attached. In other words, there is a limit to the diameter of the brush shaft to be attached, and the cap cannot be attached to various brushes with different shaft diameters, so a brush cap must be prepared according to the shaft diameter. In addition, the brush cap described in Patent Document 2 has a bellows-shaped fixing part that is fixed to the brush shaft, and the inner diameter can be changed according to the diameter of the brush shaft by expanding and contracting the bellows, but the range of change is small. In addition, the bellows structure has a complex shape and is more difficult to manufacture than a simple cylindrical shape.

Furthermore, when the brush cap is attached to the tip of the brush, if the humidity in the space around the tip is too high, mold or the like may develop on the tip. Also, if the humidity in the space around the tip is too low (dry), the hairs on the tip may become dry and accelerate deterioration of the tip. Therefore, it is preferable to keep the humidity of the space around the tip not too high and not too low, but at a moderate level of moisture. In particular, when the multiple hairs that make up the tip of the brush include at least one of natural hair and artificial hair, it is more preferable to keep the space around the tip at a moderate level of moisture.

The brush caps described in Patent Documents 1 and 2 have an opening at the tip of the brush tip, which prevents the humidity inside the brush cap from becoming too high and inhibits the growth of mold and mildew. However, since the tip of the brush cap, which is made of resin or the like, is simply open, the inside of the brush cap dries out and it is not possible to maintain a moist state where the humidity is not too low.

The present invention was devised in light of these points, and aims to provide a brush cap that can be attached to brushes of various diameters with a simpler structure in a brush cap that is placed over the bundled bristles of a brush, including a makeup brush, and that can keep the space around the bristles moist with an appropriate humidity level that is neither too high nor too low.

To solve the above problem, the first invention is a brush cap that is placed over the tip of a brush, including a cosmetic brush, in which multiple bristles are bundled together, and has a sheet-like elastic member wound in a spiral shape that overlaps with the shape of a cylinder to have a predetermined diameter, and a moisturizing member that is formed in a sheet shape and attached to the inside surface of the roll of the sheet-like elastic member to be integrated with the sheet-like elastic member in the wound state, or a moisturizing member that is formed in a bag shape, contains the sheet-like elastic member, and is integrated with the sheet-like elastic member in the wound state.

The second invention is a brush cap according to the first invention, in which the moisturizing member is a silk-containing member that contains at least one of natural silk fibers or artificial silk fibers.

The third invention is a brush cap according to the first or second invention, in which the sheet-like elastic member is a resin sheet having elasticity.

The fourth invention is a brush cap according to the first or second invention, in which the outer surface of the sheet-like elastic member and the moisturizing member that are integrated into the rolled state is decorated with at least one of letters, numbers, symbols, or designs, or the outer surface of the sheet-like elastic member and the moisturizing member that are integrated into the rolled state is affixed with a sheet-like decorative member decorated with at least one of letters, numbers, symbols, or designs, and the decorative member, the sheet-like elastic member, and the moisturizing member are integrated into the rolled state.

According to the first invention, the brush cap has a sheet-shaped moisturizing member attached to the inner surface of the roll of the sheet-shaped elastic member, and the sheet-shaped elastic member and the moisturizing member are wound together in a spiral shape overlapping each other in a cylindrical shape. Alternatively, the sheet-shaped elastic member is housed in a bag-shaped moisturizing member, and the sheet-shaped elastic member and the moisturizing member are wound together in a spiral shape overlapping each other in a cylindrical shape. Therefore, the diameter of the cylindrical brush cap is variable by the sheet-shaped elastic member, and it can be attached to the tip of a brush of various diameters. And the brush cap has a very simple structure as described above. In addition, the brush cap wound in a cylindrical spiral shape has no top or bottom and is open, and the tip to which the brush cap is attached is surrounded by the moisturizing member. Therefore, the humidity of the space around the tip to which the brush cap is attached is not too high due to the opening, and is not too low due to the moisturizing member. In other words, the brush cap can keep the space around the tip in a moisturizing state with a moderate humidity that is not too high and not too low.

According to the second invention, the moisture retaining member can be realized appropriately and relatively easily.

According to the third invention, the sheet-shaped elastic member can be realized appropriately and relatively easily.

According to the fourth invention, by attaching brush caps with different decorations corresponding to the type of brush, even if the brush cap hides the bristles and the type of brush cannot be identified, the type of brush can be identified by the decoration, which is convenient for the user. In addition, the decoration can improve the appearance.

<Structure and appearance of the brush cap 1 according to the first embodiment (FIGS. 1 to 3)>
The following describes the embodiments of the present invention with reference to the drawings. First, a brush cap 1 of a first embodiment will be described with reference to Figs. 1 to 14. In the brush cap 1 of the first embodiment, as shown in Fig. 1, the moisture retaining member 3 is sheet-shaped, and the moisture retaining member 3 is attached to the inner surface of the sheet-shaped elastic member 2. As shown in Figs. 1 and 2, the brush cap 1 of the first embodiment has the sheet-shaped elastic member 2 and the moisture retaining member 3 formed in a sheet shape.

As shown in FIG. 1, the sheet-like elastic member 2 is, for example, a rectangular resin sheet, and is a sheet-like member having elasticity. The length L2 and width W2 are set to appropriate dimensions that allow attachment to the brush tip 13 of the brush 10 as shown in FIG. 6, and are each approximately several centimeters to tens of centimeters. The shape is not limited to a rectangle. The thickness of the sheet-like elastic member 2 is set to an appropriate thickness that allows it to maintain the shape shown in FIG. 2, and also allows its diameter to be easily changed by application of an external force F (the user applies external force F by hand) as shown in FIG. 3.

As shown in FIG. 1, the moisturizing member 3 is, for example, a rectangular silk-containing member, which is a sheet-like member with moisturizing function. The silk-containing member is a cloth (woven fabric, nonwoven fabric, etc.) or soft paper containing at least one of natural silk fibers or artificial silk fibers, and has moisturizing function due to the moderate moisture absorption and release properties of silk. The length L3 is set to be equal to or less than the length L2 of the sheet-like elastic member 2 (L3≦L2), and the width W3 is set to be equal to or less than the width W2 of the sheet-like elastic member 2 (W3≦W2). The shape is not limited to a rectangle.

The moisture retaining member 3 is attached to the inside surface of the sheet-like elastic member 2 (see Figs. 2 and 3) by adhesive or double-sided tape, etc., and is integrated with the sheet-like elastic member 2. As described above, (L3 ≦ L2) and (W3 ≦ W2) are set, and the moisture retaining member 3 is attached so as not to protrude from the sheet-like elastic member 2.

The sheet-like elastic member 2, with the moisturizing member 3 attached to the inside surface of the roll, is wound in a spiral (or helical) shape together with the moisturizing member 3 so as to overlap in a cylindrical shape and have a predetermined diameter D1 (for example, a diameter of about a few mm) as shown in FIG. 2, to form the brush cap 1. As shown in FIG. 2, when no external force is applied, the brush cap 1 is in a cylindrical shape wound in a spiral (or helical) shape that overlaps around the central axis 1z. In addition, the brush cap 1 can be expanded in diameter (diameter D2 ≧ diameter D1) by applying an external force F as shown in FIG. 3. This makes it possible to attach it to various brushes of different diameters.

4 to 6, an example of a procedure for attaching the brush cap 1 shown in Fig. 2 to the brush 10 will be described. The brush 10 has a brush 13 consisting of a bundle of bristles, a shaft 11 that is held by the user, and a connection part 12 that connects the shaft 11 and the brush 13. The brush 10 may be a brush in which the connection part 12 is omitted and the brush 13 is attached to the tip of the shaft 11.

There are various types of brushes, such as cosmetic brushes (makeup brushes), drawing brushes, calligraphy brushes, and painting brushes, but in the description of this embodiment, an example will be described in which the brush 10 is a cosmetic brush. In addition, in the description of this embodiment, the brush 10 to which the brush cap 1 is attached is a brush with a tip made of a bundle of multiple hairs, including at least one of natural hair and artificial hair. Note that natural hair is, for example, the hair of an animal such as a gray squirrel or a weasel, and artificial hair is, for example, artificial hair with a surface that mimics the cuticle.

As shown in FIG. 4, when attaching the brush cap 1 to the brush 10, if the rear end of the shaft 11 is tapered or semispherical, there is no need to expand the diameter of the brush cap 1; the user simply presses the rear end of the tapered or semispherical shaft 11 into the hole in the spiral center of the brush cap 1, and the brush cap 1 automatically expands in diameter.

If the rear end of the shaft 11 is not tapered or hemispherical (for example, if it is flat), the user can expand the diameter of the brush cap 1 by tilting the shaft 11 relative to the brush cap 1 and pressing the arc-shaped edge of the rear end of the shaft 11 against the hole in the center of the spiral shape of the brush cap 1. Once the brush cap 1 has expanded in diameter, the user can push the shaft 11 in while gradually decreasing the inclination angle of the shaft 11 tilted relative to the brush cap 1. Of course, the user may apply an external force F with his or her own hand (see Figure 3) to expand the diameter of the brush cap 1 and insert the rear end of the shaft 11 so that the inner diameter D4 of the brush cap 1 is larger than the outer diameter D3 of the shaft 11 of the brush 10.

As shown in FIG. 5, the user then moves the brush cap 1 with the shaft 11 inserted along the shaft 11 in the direction of the brush tip 13. If the moisturizing member 3 (see FIG. 4 and FIG. 6) on the inner wall side of the brush cap 1 is a silk-containing material, it slides well and is easy to move.

As shown in FIG. 6, the user then moves the brush cap 1 along the shaft 11 in the direction of the bristles 13 until it covers the entire bristles 13, completing the attachment of the brush cap 1. Because the brush cap 1 is moved along the direction in which the multiple bristles of the bristles 13 extend, the bristles of the bristles 13 are not disturbed. The brush cap 1 also automatically expands in diameter according to the diameters of the bristles 13 and the connection part 12, and the brush cap 1 is held on the bristles 13 by the elastic force of the brush cap 1 contracting in diameter. Note that the state shown in FIG. 6 shows the brush cap 1 being placed on the bristles 13 (the brush cap 1 is placed on the entire bristles 13 and at least a part of the connection part 12), completing the attachment of the brush cap 1 to the bristles 13 of the brush 10.

As shown in FIG. 7, when removing the brush cap 1 (see FIG. 6) attached to the brush 10, the user pulls the brush cap 1 out along the direction in which the multiple bristles of the tip 13 extend. Because the brush cap 1 is moved along the direction in which the multiple bristles of the tip 13 extend, the bristles of the tip 13 are not disturbed.

As described above, the direction in which the brush cap 1 moves when it is attached to the bristles 13 of the brush 10, and the direction in which the brush cap 1 moves when it is removed from the bristles 13, are both the same as the direction in which the bristles of the bristles 13 extend, so the bristles of the bristles 13 do not become disarrayed. Also, if the moisturizing member 3 on the inner wall side of the brush cap 1 is a silk-containing material, there is little friction, it is slippery, and static electricity is less likely to be generated.

FIG. 8 shows a cross section of the brush cap 1 cut along the longitudinal direction of the shaft portion 11 after the brush cap 1 has been attached to the brush tip 13 (see FIG. 6).

A moisturizing member 3 is attached to the inner wall surface of the cylindrical brush cap 1, so that the bristles 13 are surrounded by the moisturizing member 3 to form a moisturizing space 20. As shown in FIG. 2, the brush cap 1 is cylindrical and does not have a top or bottom surface, so the moisturizing space 20 inside the brush cap 1 communicates with the outer space of the brush cap 1 through the opening at the tip of the bristles 13.

Silk is generally highly hygroscopic, so when the moisturizing member 3 is a silk-containing material, the opening in the brush cap 1 prevents the humidity in the moisturizing space 20 from becoming too high. Silk also generally has high moisture release properties, so when the moisturizing member 3 is a silk-containing material, the humidity in the moisturizing space 20 does not become too low (dry state). The humidity in the moisturizing space 20 is neither too high nor too low, and an appropriate humidity level is maintained (a moisturizing state). Silk also generally does not generate static electricity easily, so when the moisturizing member 3 is a silk-containing material, the hairs of the brush tip 13 are prevented from spreading due to static electricity.

When the brush 10 is stored, various dust particles adhere to the tip 13. If the brush 10 is stored without the brush cap 1 attached, the dust particles adhering to the tip 13 will absorb moisture from the tip 13, which is undesirable as the tip 13 is prone to drying out. However, if the brush 10 is stored with the brush cap 1 attached, even if the dust particles adhering to the tip 13 absorb moisture from the tip 13, the moisture-retaining space 20 formed by the moisture-retaining member 3 will maintain a moderate humidity level so that the tip 13 does not become dry, as described above. In other words, the moisture-retaining member 3 not only prevents the tip 13 from drying out when the space around the stored brush 10 is dry, but also prevents the tip 13 from drying out due to the absorption of moisture from dust particles adhering to the tip 13. Silk not only retains moisture, but also has properties that are most similar to animal hair. For example, if the hair or hair-bearing tip of an animal is covered with silk cloth, it gives the hair or hair cells a sense of security. Unlike artificial objects, the hair or hair-bearing tip cells, which were part of a living organism, retain their previous properties even when separated from the host animal. For example, hair or bristles will naturally return to their previous normal and beautiful state when surrounded by something with similar properties, rather than being exposed to a rapidly changing environment.

Figure 9 is a photograph of two brushes (two makeup brushes in this example) before the brush cap 1 is attached. The hairs (natural hairs in this example) of both brushes are damaged and dry due to drying, and the width of the hairs on the side farther from the connection is wider than the width of the hairs on the side closer to the connection.

Figure 10 is a photograph of the two brushes shown in Figure 9 after the brush cap 1 was removed after the brush cap 1 had been attached to each of them for about one day. Compared to the photograph in Figure 9, in which the bristles of the brush head were damaged and had spread out at the tip, in Figure 10 the bristles have almost completely stopped spreading out and have been improved to a moist and neat state.

Figure 11 is an optical microscope photograph of a damaged spike hair (natural hair in this example) due to drying, etc. The damaged spike hair has a relatively large uneven surface due to the cuticle being damaged and open, giving it a rough appearance, and light of various colors is diffusely reflected from surfaces at various angles, creating the appearance of a pattern due to this diffuse reflection. In the photograph shown in Figure 11, multiple white dots are diffusely reflected light (in an actual color photograph, not only white dots but also dots of various colors are captured). Due to the above unevenness, light of various colors is diffusely reflected from various angles on the roughly cylindrical hair, and it can be seen that the hair is damaged and in a so-called dry state.

The hair in Figure 12 is the same as the hair in Figure 11. Figure 12 is an optical microscope photograph of the hair in Figure 11 after it was wrapped in silk cloth simulating the brush cap 1 for 10 minutes. As can be seen from the photograph in Figure 12, the so-called cuticle has been arranged and there is almost no unevenness on the surface due to the moisturizing effect of the silk cloth simulating the brush cap 1, and it appears smooth and almost uniform in color, with significantly less diffuse reflection of light. In the photograph shown in Figure 12, there is almost no unevenness on the surface of the hair, so compared to the photograph in Figure 11, there is no diffuse reflection of light from various angles on the approximately cylindrical hair, and it looks like a single steel wire, and it can be seen that the hair is in a shiny, healthy state.

Fig. 13 shows examples of brush caps attached to various brushes with different bristles diameters (diameters of the bristles and the connecting parts). Fig. 13 shows an example in which the same brush cap 1a is attached to brushes 10a, 10b, and 10c with different bristles diameters, brush cap 1b is attached to brush 10d, and the same brush cap 1c is attached to brushes 10e and 10f with different bristles diameters.

Brushes 10a, 10b, and 10c are, for example, typical makeup brushes, with bristles 13a, 13b, and 13c of different diameters. Brush cap 1a has a variable diameter due to sheet-like elastic member 2 (see Figures 2 and 3), so brush cap 1a can be attached to brushes 10a, 10b, and 10c with bristles of different diameters, and the hairs of each bristle can be kept moisturized.

Brush 10d (a so-called brush) is an example in which the diameter of bristles 13d (or the width of bristles 13d and connecting part 12d) is very large, and the brush cap 1a attached to brushes 10a-10c cannot be attached, so in this case a brush cap 1b corresponding to the diameter (or width) of bristles 13d should be prepared. Even if the brush is brush-shaped, a brush cap can be attached and the hairs of the bristles can be kept moisturized. In this case, the user can, for example, expand the diameter of brush cap 1b with their own hands, hook one end onto bristles 13d and connecting part 12d, and attach it by wrapping it around the other end.

Brush 10e is an example of a calligraphy brush (a brush used for calligraphy) with brush cap 1c attached, and brush 10f is an example of a painting brush (a brush used for painting) with brush cap 1c attached. Brushes 10e and 10f are different types of brushes and have different diameters of the brush tips, but because the diameter of the brush cap is variable, brush cap 1c can be attached to either brush, and the hairs of the brush tips can be kept moist.

<Decoration on brush cap 1 (Fig. 13, Fig. 14)>
As shown in Fig. 13, when the brush caps 1a to 1c are attached, the bristles of the brushes are hidden by the brush caps. For this reason, for example, when makeup brushes A, B, and C, which have the same size and color of the shaft but different shapes and sizes of the bristles, are attached with brush caps, the user may not know which brush is makeup brush A. Therefore, the outer surface of the sheet-like elastic member 2 (see Fig. 2), which is wound in a spiral shape in the brush cap, is decorated with at least one of letters, numbers, symbols, and patterns. If the decoration is different for each brush cap, the user can distinguish between makeup brushes A, B, and C by looking at the decoration of the brush cap, even if the bristles are hidden by the brush cap. In addition, brush caps with beautiful decorations look good.

Alternatively, the brush cap 1x may be formed by attaching a sheet-like decorative member 4 decorated with at least one of letters, numbers, symbols, and designs to the outer surface of the sheet-like elastic member 2 and the moisturizing member 3, which are wound together in a spiral shape, as shown in FIG. 14. In this case, the decorative member 4, the sheet-like elastic member 2, and the moisturizing member 3 are wound together.

<Brush cap 1y according to the second embodiment (FIG. 15)>
Next, a brush cap 1y of the second embodiment will be described with reference to Fig. 15. As shown in Fig. 15, the brush cap 1y of the second embodiment has a moisture retaining member 5 formed in a bag shape with an opening 5a, and a sheet-like elastic member 2 housed in the moisture retaining member 5. The sheet-like elastic member 2 is the same as that of the first embodiment, and the moisture retaining member 5 is bag-shaped, but other than the shape, such as the material, it is the same as the moisture retaining member 3 of the first embodiment. The sheet-like elastic member 2 and the bag-shaped moisture retaining member 5 may be bonded, but may not be bonded.

The moisturizing member 5 shown in the example of FIG. 15 is an example of an inner-sewn bag-shaped member with openings 5a on both the right and left sides of the paper, but it may be a bag-shaped member with openings 5a only on the right side of the paper (inner-sewn or outer-sewn). In the case where the moisturizing member 5 has openings 5a on both the left and right sides of the paper as shown in the example of FIG. 15 and the sheet-shaped elastic member 2 and the moisturizing member 5 are not bonded, as shown in FIG. 16, when the user moves the brush cap 1y along the direction Fa, when the part of the connection part 12 that has a larger diameter than the shaft part 11 is moved, the bag-shaped moisturizing member 5 rotates around the sheet-shaped elastic member 2 as shown in the direction Fb of FIG. 17 due to the increase in frictional resistance. This rotation causes the new surface of the moisturizing member 5 (the surface that was on the outside) to move inward and surround the attached bristles 13, which is more preferable.

In addition, the outer surface of the moisturizing member 5, in which the sheet-like elastic member 2 and the moisturizing member 5 are wound together in a spiral shape, may be decorated with at least one of letters, numbers, symbols, and designs.

<Effects of the brush cap, etc.>
The brush caps 1, 1a to 1c, and 1x of the first embodiment described above in this embodiment have a very simple structure, including a sheet-like elastic member 2 wound in a cylindrical (spiral) shape so as to overlap in the circumferential direction, and a moisture retaining member 3 that is shaped like a sheet and attached to the inner surface of the winding of the sheet-like elastic member 2 and wound together with the sheet-like elastic member 2.
