Claims (3)
- 液晶素子からなる液晶セル層と、上記液晶セル層の出射側に設けられ、偏光に応じて回折する偏光回折格子からなる回折層とを有する1以上の第1基板及び1以上の第2基板が積層されて構成され、最下層にある基板の液晶セル層に光ビームを入射する光入射手段と、
上記各基板における液晶セル層に対して電圧をそれぞれ印加自在とした電圧印加手段とを備え、上記第1基板における回折層と第2基板における回折層は互いに回折方向が異なるように配置され、
上記液晶セル層は、スメクチック液晶の液晶素子からなり、
上記液晶セル層には、位相差板が更に積層されたことを特徴とする光スイッチング素子。 - 上記第1基板における回折層と第2基板における回折層は互いに回折方向が直交するように配置されていることを特徴とする請求項1記載の光スイッチング素子。
- 上記光入射手段により入射された光ビームについて上記液晶セル層に印加された電圧に応じて偏光を変化させ、その変化させた光ビームの偏光に応じて上記回折層における回折方向を変化させることを、最下層の上記基板から最上層の上記基板に至るまで順次実行することにより、最上層の上記基板の回折層から出射される光ビームの出射位置を制御することを特徴とする請求項1記載の光スイッチング素子。
