Description

This disclosure relates to a hair catcher.

Hair catchers are installed on the drains of bathrooms and washbasins to prevent hair and small debris from going down the drain and clogging the pipes. Hair catchers are prone to getting tangled or caught, so cleaning and collecting hair is time-consuming.

Patent Document 1 discloses a technology that uses drainage to generate a swirling flow inside the hair catcher, thereby collecting hair inside the hair catcher and making it easier to clean and collect hair. This hair catcher has a bottom mesh section with many holes drilled in the circumferential direction from the center of the bottom to the sides, a non-mesh section that is located above the bottom mesh section and has no holes, and an intermediate mesh section that is located above the non-mesh section and has many holes drilled in the circumferential direction, and is set on the drain of the bathroom washing area.

The hair catcher described in Patent Document 1 is set by placing it on the drain, so if a large amount of water flows into the drain, the hair catcher will float up from the drain. If the hair catcher floats up, it cannot generate a swirling flow, causing hair to scatter, which makes cleaning difficult.

To prevent the hair catcher from floating up, it is possible to provide a locking means on the outer surface of the hair catcher to lock it into the drain. However, since the outer surface of the hair catcher has many openings for draining water, providing a locking means on the outer surface of the hair catcher would result in the locking means blocking the openings, which would affect the drainage performance.

Therefore, it is necessary to prevent the hair catcher from floating up from the drain without affecting the drainage performance.

The hair catcher according to the present disclosure has an upper edge, a water storage section disposed at the bottom, a drain section disposed between the upper edge and the water storage section and having a number of openings for draining to the outside a portion of the water that has flowed into the interior, a water guide section disposed to connect the upper edge and the water storage section and directing a portion of the water that has flowed in from the upper edge toward the water storage section, and an engagement recess disposed on the outer surface of the water guide section and engaging with an engagement protrusion provided on the inner peripheral surface of the drain port.

An embodiment of the present disclosure will now be described with reference to the drawings. As shown in Figs. 1 and 2, the hair catcher 1 is attached to a bathroom drainage device 200 provided on the floor 100 of the bathroom wash area.

The bathroom drainage device 200 has a drain trap section 201, a bathtub drain 202 arranged to open to the bottom of the bathtub, a washing area drain 203 that opens to the top of the drain trap section 201 and to which a hair catcher 1 is attached, a connecting pipe 204 that connects the drain trap section 201 and the bathtub drain 202, and a drain pipe 205 that drains the water in the drain trap section 201. The drain FL from the bathtub drain 202 flows into the drain trap section 201 through the connecting pipe 204 as shown in FIG. 2. The washing area drain 203 opens to the washing area floor 100 and opens to the top of the drain trap section 201. In FIG. 1, the bathtub provided adjacent to the washing area floor 100 is not shown.

2, the inner circumferential surface of the washing area drain outlet 203 has multiple engaging protrusions 203a. The engaging protrusions 203a are parts that fix the hair catcher 1 to the washing area drain outlet 203 by engaging with the engaging recesses 6, which are provided on the outer circumferential surface of the hair catcher 1 and will be described later. This prevents the hair catcher 1 from floating up from the washing area drain outlet 203 even if a large amount of water flows into the washing area drain outlet 203. In this embodiment, four engaging protrusions 203a are arranged on the inner circumferential surface of the washing area drain outlet 203 at an angle of 90°. However, it is sufficient that the inner circumferential surface of the washing area drain outlet 203 has at least two engaging protrusions 203a that engage with the two engaging recesses 6, 6, which will be described later.

As shown in Figures 3, 4 and 5, the hair catcher 1 is a resin molded product that is integrally equipped with an upper edge 2 located at the top of the hair catcher 1, a water storage section 3 located at the bottom of the hair catcher 1, a drainage section 4 located between the upper edge 2 and the water storage section 3, a water guide section 5 provided to connect the upper edge 2 and the water storage section 3, and an engagement recess 6 that engages with an engagement protrusion 203a of the washing area drain outlet 203. The hair catcher 1 is formed in a mortar shape that gradually narrows from the upper edge 2 toward the water storage section 3.

As shown by the arrows in Figure 5, the X direction of the hair catcher 1 when viewed from above is defined as the circumferential direction of the hair catcher 1. When viewed from above, the direction extending radially from the center of the centrally located water storage section 3 is defined as the radial direction of the hair catcher 1.

The upper edge portion 2 is formed in a circular ring shape with a predetermined width. The upper edge portion 2 has an outer diameter that is approximately the same as the inner diameter of the washing area drain outlet 203 excluding the engagement protrusion 203a, and fits into the inner peripheral surface of the circular washing area drain outlet 203.

Two vertical walls 21, 21 are provided on the upper surface 2a of the upper edge 2, which are rotationally symmetrical with respect to the center of the upper edge 2. Each of the vertical walls 21, 21 extends over approximately half the area of the upper edge 2 in the circumferential direction and protrudes upward from the outer periphery of the upper surface 2a.

As shown in FIG. 5, the vertical wall portions 21, 21 have an introduction end 21a, 21a on one side along the circumferential direction of the hair catcher 1, and an end end 21b, 21b on the other side. The vertical wall portions 21, 21 extend clockwise from the introduction end 21a, 21a to the end end 21b, 21b. The introduction end 21a, 21a is disposed so as to face the upper surface 2a of the upper edge portion 2 at 180°. The end end 21b, 21b curves inward from the vicinity of the introduction end 21a, 21a of the other vertical wall portion 21, 21, respectively, toward the inside of the upper edge portion 2 and descends toward the water storage portion 3.

One of the two vertical wall portions 21, 21 is provided with a plate-shaped handle portion 22 that protrudes from the upper end of the vertical wall portion 21 toward the outside in the radial direction of the hair catcher 1.

The water storage section 3 is located at the bottom of the hair catcher 1 and temporarily stores some of the water that flows inside the upper edge section 2. The water storage section 3 has a bottom section 31, a side section 32, and a water drainage hole 33.

The bottom surface portion 31 is the bottommost portion of the hair catcher 1 and is composed of a flat circular plate with a smaller diameter than the inner circumference of the upper edge portion 2. The bottom surface portion 31 is approximately parallel to the upper edge portion 2 and is arranged concentrically with the upper edge portion 2.

The side portion 32 extends obliquely from the outer periphery of the bottom portion 31 so as to expand obliquely upward. The side portion 32 extends in a band shape in the circumferential direction of the water storage portion 3 between the upper edge portion 2 and the bottom portion 31, for a certain height from the bottom portion 31. The side portion 32 forms a side wall surface for temporarily storing water in the water storage portion 3.

The drain holes 33 are provided at intervals around the circumference of the hair catcher 1 at the boundary between the bottom surface 31 and the side surface 32. In this embodiment, eight drain holes 33 are provided at equal intervals around the circumference of the water storage section 3. However, the number of drain holes 33 is not limited to eight.

The drainage section 4 is arranged to connect the inner periphery of the upper edge 2 and the water storage section 3, and occupies most of the side surface of the hair catcher 1. The drainage section 4 is formed in the circumferential direction of the hair catcher 1, from near the introduction ends 21a, 21a of the vertical walls 21, 21 to the terminal ends 21b, 21b of the vertical walls 21, 21. A water guide section 5, which will be described later, is arranged between the introduction ends 21a and terminal ends 21b that are adjacent in the circumferential direction of the hair catcher 1, and no drainage section 4 is provided. Therefore, two drainage sections 4, 4 are provided on the side surface of the hair catcher 1, sandwiching the two water guide sections 5, 5.

The drainage section 4 has a number of openings 41 that allow water to flow between the inside and outside of the hair catcher 1. More specifically, the drainage section 4 is formed in a lattice pattern by a number of vertical rib sections 42 and a number of horizontal rib sections 43. The vertical rib sections 42 are arranged at intervals in the circumferential direction of the hair catcher 1, and connect the upper edge section 2 and the water storage section 3 diagonally so as to expand outward as they move from the water storage section 3 toward the upper edge section 2. The horizontal rib sections 43 are arranged in parallel at intervals in the height direction of the hair catcher 1, and extend in the circumferential direction of the hair catcher 1 so as to connect adjacent vertical rib sections 42, 42 in the circumferential direction of the hair catcher 1. The opening 41 is formed by a rectangular area surrounded by two vertical rib sections 42 and two horizontal rib sections 43.

As shown in FIG. 6, the vertical rib portion 42 has a triangular cross-sectional shape. More specifically, the vertical rib portion 42 has an inclined surface 42a that is arranged diagonally with respect to the flow of water that flows into the inside of the upper edge portion 2 from between the inlet end 21a, 21a and the end end 21b, 21b of the vertical wall portion 21, 21, as shown by the arrows in FIG. 5 and FIG. 6. The inclined surface 42a is arranged facing the inside of the drainage portion 4, and is formed so as to extend upstream in the direction of the water flow as it moves from the inside to the outside of the drainage portion 4. Therefore, a part of the water flowing in the drainage trap portion 201 on the outside of the hair catcher 1 hits the inclined surface 42a of the vertical rib portion 42 and changes direction to the inside of the drainage portion 4, as shown by the arrows in FIG. 6, and flows from the outside of the drainage portion 4 to the inside through the opening 41.

The water guide section 5 is arranged to connect the inner periphery of the upper edge section 2 and the water storage section 3. As described above, two drainage sections 4, 4 are provided on the side of the hair catcher 1, sandwiching the two water guide sections 5, 5. The upper ends 5a, 5a of the water guide sections 5, 5 are arranged between the inlet ends 21a, 21a and the end ends 21b, 21b of the adjacent vertical wall sections 21, 21. The lower ends 5b, 5b of the water guide sections 5, 5 are each integrally connected to the upper end of the side section 32 of the water storage section 3.

The two water guide sections 5, 5 are arranged 180° apart in the circumferential direction of the hair catcher 1. In a plan view of the hair catcher 1, the water guide sections 5, 5 extend from between the inlet ends 21a, 21a and the end ends 21b, 21b of the vertical walls 21, 21 toward the water storage section 3 at a slight clockwise incline, and are connected to the upper end of the side section 32 of the water storage section 3. The water guide sections 5, 5 do not have an opening. Therefore, the water guide sections 5, 5 function to guide a portion of the water that flows in from between the inlet ends 21a, 21a and the end ends 21b directly toward the water storage section 3.

The end portions 21b, 21b of the vertical walls 21, 21 extend to near the midpoint of the height of the water conveying sections 5, 5. As a result, some of the water flowing in between the inlet end 21a and the end portion 21b is guided by the water conveying sections 5, 5 and flows smoothly down toward the water storage section 3.

The engagement recess 6 is a locking means for fixing the hair catcher 1 so that it does not float up due to the drainage in the drain trap section 201 by engaging with the engagement protrusion 203a provided on the inner peripheral surface of the washing area drain outlet 203. In this embodiment, the hair catcher 1 is provided with engagement recesses 6, 6 on the outer surfaces 5c, 5c of the two water guide sections 5, 5. The two engagement recesses 6, 6 are positioned 180° apart in the circumferential direction of the hair catcher 1.

As shown in Figures 8 and 9, the engagement recess 6 has a protrusion 61 that protrudes radially outward from the outer surface 5c of the upper end 5a of the water guide section 5 that contacts the upper edge section 2. The protrusion 61 is made of a solid block. The protrusion 61 is an integrally molded part that is molded integrally with the water guide section 5 using resin on the outer surface 5c of the water guide section 5. The outer end surface 61a of the protrusion 61, which is located radially outward of the hair catcher 1, is located flush with the outer peripheral surface 2b of the upper edge section 2.

The engaging recess 6 is provided on the outer surface 5c of the water guide 5, so it does not block the opening 41 of the drainage section 4. Usually, the number and opening area of the openings 41 of the drainage section 4 are designed so that a predetermined amount of water that has flowed into the inside of the hair catcher 1 is drained through the openings 41 to the outside of the hair catcher 1 in a predetermined time. If the engaging recess 6 blocks a part of the opening 41, drainage to the outside of the hair catcher 1 is hindered at that part, so it may be difficult to drain a predetermined amount of water within a predetermined time. However, since the engaging recess 6 is provided on the outer surface 5c of the water guide 5, it does not hinder the flow of water through the openings 41 of the drainage section 4. The drainage section 4 can be provided with a desired number of openings 41. Therefore, even if the engaging recess 6 is provided on the outer surface of the hair catcher 1, it does not affect the drainage performance of the hair catcher 1.

The engagement recess 6 is recessed radially inward from the outer end surface 61a of the protruding portion 61. More specifically, the engagement recess 6 is formed in a generally horizontal U-shape that opens in the circumferential direction on the outer end surface 61a of the protruding portion 61. Such a groove-shaped engagement recess 6 constitutes a so-called material stealing hole in the protruding portion 61, and can suppress the occurrence of sink marks that accompany shrinkage during molding of the protruding portion 61. Therefore, the hair catcher 1 of this embodiment has excellent molding precision.

The lower end surface 61b of the protrusion 61 is formed of a substantially horizontal surface as shown in FIG. 4. The lower end surface 61b and the outer surface 5c of the water guide 5 form a continuous surface that is continuously connected at an obtuse angle. "Continuously connected" means that there is no groove between the lower end surface 61b of the protrusion 61 and the outer surface 5c of the water guide 5, and the lower end surface 61b and the outer surface 5c are connected by a single boundary line 61c. This allows the swirling flow outside the hair catcher 1 to flow smoothly along the lower end surface 61b of the protrusion 61, the outer surface 5c of the water guide 5, and the boundary line 61c between them. Therefore, hair contained in the swirling flow also flows along the swirling flow, and is prevented from becoming entangled in the protrusion 61.

The circumferential end face 61d of the protruding portion 61 of the hair catcher 1 is formed to be slightly inclined downward. This end face 61d also forms a continuous surface that is connected to the outer surface 5c of the water guide portion 5 at an obtuse angle. Therefore, hair contained in the water that hits the end face 61d of the protruding portion 61 is prevented from adhering to the end face 61d.

Next, the installation and use of the hair catcher 1 will be described. First, the hair catcher 1 is fitted into the washing area drain outlet 203 so that the two engagement recesses 6, 6 are positioned between two engagement protrusions 203a adjacent in the circumferential direction of the washing area drain outlet 203. After fitting, when the user holds the handle portion 22 and rotates the hair catcher 1 clockwise a predetermined angle, the two engagement recesses 6, 6 respectively engage with the two engagement protrusions 203a. This fixes the hair catcher 1 to the washing area drain outlet 203. After that, even if a large amount of water flows inside the drain trap portion 201, the hair catcher 1 will not float up from the washing area drain outlet 203.

The water on the washing area floor 100 flows toward the washing area drain 203 due to the slope of the washing area floor 100, and reaches the hair catcher 1. The water that reaches the hair catcher 1 hits the vertical walls 21, 21 of the hair catcher 1, flows along the outer surfaces of the vertical walls 21, 21, and then flows into the inside of the hair catcher 1 between the introduction end 21a and the end end 21b of the vertical walls 21, 21.

Most of the water that flows into the hair catcher 1 is guided between the inlet end 21a and the end 21b of the vertical walls 21, 21 along the curved shape of the end 21b, and flows down inside the hair catcher 1 while circling clockwise in a plan view, as shown by the arrow in Figure 5. Some of the water that flows down flows from the inside to the outside through the opening 41 of the drainage section 4.

Some of the water that flows into the hair catcher 1 is led directly to the water storage section 3 by the water guide section 5 that extends from the upper edge 2 toward the water storage section 3. Hair contained in the water also flows through the water guide section 5 into the water storage section 3. Since the number of drainage holes 33 in the water storage section 3 is far fewer than the number of openings 41 in the drain section 4, the water containing hair that is led to the water storage section 3 is temporarily stored in the water storage section 3.

When the amount of water flowing into the drain trap section 201 increases, a swirling flow occurs inside the drain trap section 201 in a clockwise direction when viewed from above. As shown in FIG. 6, part of the swirling flow in the drain trap section 201 hits the inclined surface 42a of the vertical rib section 42 of the drain section 4 and changes direction to the inside of the drain section 4, flows from the outside of the drain section 4 to the inside through the opening 41, and merges with the swirling flow inside the drain section 4. At this time, hair contained in the swirling flow inside the drain trap section 201 also flows in through the opening 41.

The water further stored in the water storage section 3 as it flows in from the outside of the drain section 4 through the opening 41 is gradually drained from the water drainage hole 33. This allows the hair contained in the water to be collected inside the water storage section 3.

After draining is complete, the user holds the handle 22 and rotates the hair catcher 1 counterclockwise, which disengages the engagement recess 6 from the engagement protrusion 203a. This allows the user to remove the hair catcher 1 from the washing area drain 203 and clean up the hair that has been collected in the water storage section 3.
