The present application relates to a study structure having a bookshelf and a bench combined therewith.

A type of multi-functional storage furniture with space-saving features is known that has a bench-like seating area attached to the side of a storage shelf (Patent Documents 1 and 2, etc.). This type of storage furniture is used, for example, as a shoe rack in the entranceway where people with weak legs can sit down while changing their shoes.

There are also storage shelves with folding stools built into the storage space (Patent Documents 3 and 4, etc.). This type of storage furniture is used, for example, as wall storage shelves in living rooms or kitchens, where a step stool can be quickly taken out when taking items in and out of high places.

For living rooms, studies, hobby rooms, etc., there is a strong demand for indoor environments where people can enjoy reading for long periods of time in a relaxed position. Ideally, there would be enough space to accommodate a large-capacity bookshelf and a chair or sofa suitable for reading, but if the room is not that spacious, it is necessary to create such an indoor environment by using compact multi-functional furniture, for example.

However, the seats and stools of the above-mentioned conventional storage furniture are only designed for temporary or occasional use. The size of the seat is only about the depth of the storage shelf (30 to 40 cm), so it is not suitable for sitting there for long periods of time to enjoy reading.

The invention disclosed in this application was made in light of the above-mentioned circumstances, and proposes a bench with a bookshelf that compactly integrates a storage shelf that can be easily used as a bookshelf and a bench with a backrest that is suitable for enjoying reading for long periods of time in a posture that places less strain on the body.

The invention disclosed in this application also proposes a study structure that utilizes such a bench with a bookshelf to create a sense of openness and relaxation even in a small indoor space.

In order to achieve the above-mentioned object, the invention disclosed in the present application is a study structure in which a bench with a bookshelf, which is formed by combining a bench having a backrest and a bookshelf, is installed in a corner of a study surrounded by a first wall surface having a bay window-type window opening facing an outdoor space over the entire wall length, a second wall surface which is connected perpendicularly to the first wall surface, and a third wall surface which is connected perpendicularly to the first wall surface and faces the second wall surface, the bench is configured by combining a single seat panel which is elongated in a plan view with plate-like legs which support the seat panel at a plurality of points, one long side of the seat panel is aligned along the first wall surface, and one end and the other end of the seat panel are arranged to abut against the second wall surface and the third wall surface, respectively, and the legs are joined to the underside of the seat panel so as to be parallel to the short sides of the seat panel, thereby supporting the seat panel. The seat board is erected so as to be supported horizontally, and an open space which is visible in the short side direction of the seat board is provided below the seat board over more than half of the long side dimension of the seat board, the bookshelf is connected to one end of the seat board with its opening facing the long side direction of the seat board, its back surface abutting the second wall surface and its upper end abutting the ceiling surface, and a backrest which faces the opening of the bookshelf is attached to the other end side in the long side direction of the seat board so as to be inclined upward toward the bookshelf and its upper end abutting the third wall surface, and the bench is configured so that the short side dimension of the seat board of the bench is 40 to 50 cm, the height from the floor to the seat is 35 to 45 cm, the distance between the front of the bookshelf and the base of the backrest is 130 cm or more, and the inclination angle of the backrest with respect to the seat is 50 to 70 degrees. With this configuration, by sitting on the bench, leaning against the backrest and stretching one's legs toward the bookshelf, one can enjoy reading in a relaxed position while looking at the books on the bookshelf in front of oneself.

Furthermore, this configuration reduces the presence of the seat board and creates a sense of spaciousness on the floor surface where the bookshelf bench is installed, so even if the room is small, the impression of the room being cramped due to the installation of the bookshelf bench can be suppressed. The open space that allows visibility in the short side direction of the seat board is provided over the majority of the long side dimension of the seat board , further increasing the sense of spaciousness on the floor surface.

Also, with this configuration, if you lean back with your legs stretched out toward the bookshelf and look slightly to the side, you will see the scenery outside the window opening. This type of window-side space is also ideal for switching your thoughts or deepening your contemplation while reading. During the day, the natural light from the window opening helps with reading, and at night, the artificial lighting placed outside the window opening creates a calming atmosphere in the window-side space.

This structure also allows for the creation of a compact, comfortable, relaxing window space even in a small study. Furthermore, by adopting a structure in which the upper end of the bookshelf abuts against the ceiling and the window opening is open at least from a position lower than the seat of the bench to a position higher than the backrest of the bench, the sense of unity of the built-in furniture can be enhanced without compromising the open feeling of the window opening.

The bench with bookshelf according to the invention disclosed in this application allows a person to sit on the bench, lean against the backrest, stretch their legs out towards the bookshelf, and enjoy reading in a relaxed position while looking at the books on the bookshelf in front of them.

The study structure of the invention disclosed in this application also makes it possible to create a compact, bright, open, and relaxing window space for reading and contemplation.

The following describes an embodiment of the invention disclosed in this application with reference to the drawings.

Figures 1 and 4 to 10 show one embodiment of a bench with a bookshelf according to the invention disclosed in this application, and Figures 2 and 3 show one embodiment of a study in which the bench with a bookshelf is installed.

The bench with bookshelf 1 is constructed by connecting a bookshelf to one end of the long side of the bench 2, which is rectangular in plan view (the left end in the front view of Figure 1).

The bench 2 is composed of a seat panel 21 and legs 22 (at multiple locations) that support the seat panel 21 horizontally. In the illustrated embodiment, plate-shaped legs 22 are erected parallel to the short sides of the seat panel 21 at two locations on the left and right ends and two locations in the middle in the front view of FIG. 1, and the upper ends of the legs 22 at these four locations are joined to the underside of the seat panel 21. The lower ends of the legs 22 at these four locations are joined to a base plate 23 that is approximately the same size as the seat panel 21. As a result, three spaces are defined below the seat panel 21, separated by the legs 22. Of these, the spaces on the left side and in the center when viewed from the front do not have a back panel, a valance panel, a door panel, etc., and are open spaces 24 that can be seen in the short side direction of the seat panel 21. The front edges of the legs 22 that define the open space 24 are set back slightly from the front edge of the seat panel 21.

The space on the right side as viewed from the front is used as storage space 25 for installing air conditioning equipment and other facilities. A back panel 26 is attached to the rear side of the storage space 25, and a louver panel 27 for privacy is detachably attached to the front side.

The bookshelf 3 is a box-shaped open shelf with a vertically long rectangular opening, and is equipped with a pair of side panels 31 surrounding the left and right sides of the opening, multiple shelves 32 spanning between them, and a back panel 33 attached to the rear side of the opening, and is disposed at the left end of the bench 2 as viewed from the front, with the opening facing the long side of the bench 2. In the illustrated embodiment, the width of the opening (the distance between the opposing side panels 31) is formed to be slightly smaller than the short side dimension of the seat panel 21, and the lower ends of the side panels 31 are joined to the seat panel 21 of the bench 2 in a manner that they rest on top of it.

A backrest 4 facing the bookshelf 3 is attached near the other end of the seat plate 21 of the bench 2. The backrest 4 is made of a single plate with a width approximately equal to the short side dimension of the seat plate 21, and is attached to the upper surface of the seat plate 21 so that the plate is inclined at an elevation angle toward the bookshelf 3. In the illustrated embodiment, the backrest 4 is fixed at a certain angle θ via a metal support plate 41 attached between the rear surface of the backrest 4 and the seat plate 21.

This bench with bookshelf 1 is installed in a corner of the study 5, for example, as shown in Figures 2 and 3. The study 5 according to the example embodiment has an area surrounded by a first wall 51 with a window opening 50, and a second wall 52 and a third wall 53 that are perpendicularly connected to the first wall 51 and face each other. The window opening 50 in the first wall 51 is a bay window that opens widely from near the floor 54 to near the ceiling 55, and outside of it is an outdoor space 6 belonging to an exterior garden, courtyard (small courtyard), terrace, balcony, veranda, etc., and the indoors and outdoors are visually connected so that the outdoor space 6 can be appreciated from inside the room. There are no window openings in the second wall 52 and the third wall 53, and an entrance 56 is provided in the second wall 52.

The bench 1 with bookshelf is arranged with one long side of the bench 2 aligned with the window opening 50 of the first wall 51. The bookshelf 3 is arranged so that its back surface abuts the second wall 52 and its upper end abuts the ceiling surface 55. The other end of the bench 2 (the side opposite the bookshelf 3) and the upper end of the backrest 4 abut against the third wall 53. The seat board 21 of the bench 2 arranged along the window opening 50 forms a seat surface that crosses the window opening 50. However, the majority of the lower side of the seat board 21 forms an open space 24 that is visible both indoors and outdoors, and the seat board 21 gives a light and airy impression, so the sense of openness and lighting of the window opening 50 is not significantly impaired.

By sitting on the seat 21, leaning against the backrest 4 and stretching your legs towards the bookshelf 3, you can enjoy reading in a relaxed position while looking at the books on the bookshelf 3 in front of you. If you look to the side in this position, you can see the view of the outdoor space 6, which allows you to change your thoughts or deepen your contemplation while reading. During the day, natural lighting from the window opening 50 helps with reading, and at night, artificial lighting in the outdoor space 6 creates a calming atmosphere by the window.

This configuration provides a bench 1 with a bookshelf that is suitable for enjoying reading for long periods of time in a comfortable position, and a study structure with such a bench 1 installed that is compact yet has a sense of openness and relaxation.

The technical scope of the invention disclosed in this application should not be interpreted as being limited by the illustrated embodiments, but should be interpreted conceptually based on the claims. When implementing the invention disclosed in this application, the shape, structure, material, quantity, joining form, relative positional relationship, etc. of components not specifically specified in the claims may be modified as appropriate within the scope that provides substantially the same functional effects as the illustrated embodiments.

For example, the short side dimension of the bench 2 is practically about 40 to 50 cm so that a person can sit comfortably, but if the room area of the study 5 has room, it can be a little larger. The long side dimension of the bench 2 is not particularly limited as long as it is large enough to lean against the backrest 4 and stretch your legs comfortably, but it is preferable that the distance between the front of the bookshelf 3 and the base of the backrest 4 is 100 cm or more, and preferably 130 cm or more so that it does not feel cramped. The angle θ of the backrest is about 50 to 70 degrees, but it may be curved to fit the back. The planar shape of the bench 2 is not limited to a long rectangle, and it may be a shape with a non-uniform width or a shape with curved sides.

The height from the floor surface 54 to the seat surface of the bench 2 is preferably about 35 to 45 cm so that a person can sit comfortably, and if it is at that height, the upper surface of the bench 2 can also be used as a writing desk (low desk). The width of the opening surface of the bookshelf 3 may be smaller or larger than the short side dimension of the bench 2. The height of the bookshelf 3 is preferably sufficiently larger than the height of the backrest 4 of the bench 2. A door or drawer (not shown) may be attached to part of the bookshelf 3. Also, a storage space may be provided in the lower part of the bookshelf 3, and the lower part on the backrest 4 side may be an open space. In addition, it is possible to further improve usability by combining it with a sub-table, footrest, and other functions depending on the usage mode and installation environment of the bench with bookshelf.

The invention disclosed in this application can be applied not only to homes, but also to the living spaces of various buildings where people have the opportunity to read, such as accommodation facilities, educational and research facilities, medical and nursing care facilities, and others.
