1. 1. Definition "Burst signal width" means the duration (milliseconds) of burst signal emission, and "burst signal period" means the next burst signal from the start of emission of one burst signal. It means the time (seconds) until the start of radiation.
FIG. 1 shows a waveform of a burst signal composed of two burst signals having a burst signal width of 162 milliseconds and a burst signal period of 1 second.
Further, "sound wave" means a wave generated by elasticity.

The
The setting range of the width of the first burst signal and the second burst signal is a range in which the moths are highly effective in repelling, for example, 50 ms or more and 200 ms or less.
However, the width of the first burst signal set in the first condition is preferably 50 milliseconds or more and 80 milliseconds or less, and more preferably 55 milliseconds or more and 65 milliseconds or less. The width of the second burst signal set in the second condition is preferably 100 milliseconds or more and 200 milliseconds or less, and more preferably 155 milliseconds or more and 170 milliseconds or less.
From the viewpoint of repelling moths in a wider range from the vibrating
On the other hand, the setting range of the period of the first burst signal and the second burst signal is, for example, 0.6 to 2.4 seconds, and preferably 0.9 seconds or more and 2.1 seconds or less.
The user can set the width and period of a specific burst signal in the

For example, to sequentially generate the first burst signal and the second burst signal, it suffices if there is a step of generating the second burst signal after the step of generating the first burst signal, and immediately after the first burst signal. It is not limited to generating a second burst signal. Therefore, in the above cycle, the first burst signal is between the first burst signal and the first burst signal, between the first burst signal and the second burst signal, and between the second burst signal and the first burst signal. And a burst signal different from the second burst signal may be generated. As the burst signal different from the first burst signal and the second burst signal, the width of the burst signal is preferably 50 ms or more and 80 ms or less, or 100 ms or more and 200 ms or less, and the burst signal. The period is preferably 0.6 seconds or more and 2.4 seconds or less.
In addition, in order to enhance the effect of repelling flying moths, it is necessary to emit sound waves having a moth repellent effect at predetermined intervals. Therefore, the

The vibrating
The term "omnidirectional" here does not mean omnidirectional in a strict sense. That is, "omnidirectional" is referred to as "substantially omnidirectional" which is all directions other than the direction in which sound waves are not radiated due to design and manufacturing reasons and all directions other than the portion supporting the vibrating
Examples of the spherical vibrating radiator that radiates sound waves in all directions include the spherical ultrasonic vibrator described in

3. 3. In order to install the ship

4. Reaction of gypsy moth to sound waves 4-1. Reaction analysis based on the difference in the frequency of the burst waveforms that make up the burst signal Moths are known to recognize the ultrasonic waves emitted by their natural enemy, bats, and take escape actions. Therefore, the present inventors first investigated the relationship between the frequency of the burst waveform constituting the burst signal and the escape behavior of the gypsy moth in the escape behavior of moths.
Using the device shown in FIG. 5, sound waves transmitted in a predetermined burst waveform were radiated to female moths and male moths, respectively. The gypsy moth is fixed at a position of 30 to 50 cm from the speaker. A burst signal is created on a personal computer 32 (Visual Basic, DigiOnAudio2), and a speaker is created via a D / A converter 34 (DR-DAC2, manufactured by AUDIOTRAK) and an amplifier 36 (PMS-390AE, manufactured by DENON). A sound wave transmitted in a burst waveform was emitted from 30 (FT17H, manufactured by FOSTEX).
In the case of a female moth, the volume of the amplifier 36 is gradually increased during the flight action, and when an increase or decrease in the flapping frequency or amplitude of the female moth is observed, it is judged that a reaction has been observed, and the volume at that time is reacted. It was set as a threshold value.
In the case of male moths, stimulation by burst signals was performed in the same manner as in the case of female moths. On the other hand, regarding the reaction threshold, in order to reduce the influence of the difference in the flapping characteristics of the male moth and the female moth, it was judged that a reaction was observed by rotating so as to avoid the sound source direction, and the volume at that time was set. The reaction threshold was used.
If a reaction is observed, the volume of the amplifier 36 is maintained, and the volume is connected to the sound level meter 38 (STMS-864B: manufactured by Electronic Measurement Co., Ltd.) and the oscilloscope 40 (WH3219: manufactured by Brüel & Kjä). −L-006: Bruel & Kjä Co., Ltd.) measured and recorded. The measuring instrument was installed right next to the moth and measured perpendicular to the
There are two types of burst waveform frequencies that make up the burst signal, 40 kHz (ultrasonic range) and 4 kHz (audible sound range), and the width of the burst signal is 2, 3, 5, 8, 10, 15, 20, for each frequency. The reaction thresholds of male and female moths were examined under nine conditions of 25 and 30 ms.
Regardless of the width of any burst signal, the reaction threshold value at the frequency of 40 kHz was lower than that at the frequency of 4 kHz, but the difference between the reaction threshold values was about 5 dB. Therefore, it was clarified that the difference in the frequency of the burst waveforms constituting the burst signal had almost no effect on the escape behavior of the gypsy moth.
In addition, in the repellent of moths, it is especially important to repel egg-laying female moths, but there was no difference between male and female moths in terms of escape behavior of gypsy moths.
4-2. Outdoor gypsy moth repellent behavior analysis A
Next, from the spherical vibrating radiator, the road surface was marked with a chalk in a straight line from 10 m to 100 m every 10 m, and the width of the burst signal was 62 for the male moth of Maimiga placed in the wire net cage at each location. A sound wave transmitted by a burst waveform based on a burst signal in which a burst signal having a millisecond and a burst signal period of 1 second and a burst signal having a burst signal width of 162 milliseconds and a burst signal period of 1 second are sequentially generated. Was emitted, and the reaction of Maimiga was visually observed. Five or more male moths within 5 days after emergence were placed in the wire mesh basket. While moving to the survey site, one side of the wire mesh cage was covered with a transparent acrylic plate, and the surface covered with the transparent acrylic plate was covered with a transparent acrylic plate so that the sound waves transmitted by the above burst waveform did not reach the male moth of the gypsy moth placed in the wire mesh cage. It moved so that it faced the vibrating radiator.

According to FIG. 6, the condition (1) shows a ++ reaction at a point 10 m to 30 m from the oscillating radiator, and the condition (2) shows a ++ or + reaction at a point 10 m to 70 m. Under the condition, a ++ or + reaction was shown at a point of 40 m to 90 m, and under the condition (4), a + reaction was shown at a point of 40 m to 90 m. Furthermore, under the condition (7), a ++ or + reaction was shown at points of 10 m and 30 to 90 m.
From this result, the condition (1) is used when repelling moths at a distance of less than 40 m, and (2), (3), (4) or (4) or (4) when repelling moths at a distance of 40 to 90 m. It was clarified that when the moths are repelled at a distance of 10 to 90 m under the condition (7), the moth repellent effect is high if the width of the burst signal is set so as to be the condition (7). .. On the other hand, regarding the period of the burst signal, it was clarified that there is a moth repellent effect in the range of 1 to 2 seconds.
4-3. Outdoor Moth Repellent Behavior Analysis The same
The number of moths attracted by the floodlight and flying was examined for the number of moths flying on the white cloth and white sheet. Since the number of individuals attracted varies depending on the location, the number of stink bugs and beetles that do not have ultrasonic receptors was also examined in order to correct the difference depending on the location.
Based on the results of the above "Analysis of repellent behavior of Maimiga outdoors", [burst
As is clear from FIG. 7, it is clear that the flying of moths is suppressed in a wide range of 25 m, 50 m, and 75 m, and that moths can be repelled by the moth repellent method according to the third invention based on the above conditions. rice field.
