Claims (19)
- ホスト材料および複数の複合繊維を含む赤外線遮断層を含む物品であって、前記複数の複合繊維が、前記ホスト材料に包埋されており、前記赤外線遮断層の領域中の前記複数の複合繊維の平均繊維角度が、前記赤外線遮断層の主表面に対して0〜20°であり、前記平均繊維角度が、前記主表面のうちの1つに対する前記複合繊維の中心繊維軸の相対角度を基準に決定され、
前記複数の複合繊維の前記複合繊維の各々が、コントラスト材料およびマトリックス材料を含み、前記コントラスト材料が、前記マトリックス材料中に、赤外線放射に曝露された場合フォトニックバンドギャップが現れるフォトニック結晶を形成し、
前記複数の複合繊維が、
フォトニックバンドギャップファイバー中の前記コントラスト材料が、前記コントラスト材料の六角格子、ハニカム格子、方形格子、三角格子、カゴメ格子もしくは前述のもののうちの少なくとも1つを含む組合せを形成するロッドである、複数のフォトニックバンドギャップファイバー、または
内部繊維コアの周りに同心円状に位置決めされた前記コントラスト材料の同心環の1−Dフォトニック結晶配置を有する複数のブラッグファイバー
のうちの少なくとも1つを含むことを特徴とする、物品。 - 請求項1に記載の物品であって、前記複数の複合繊維が、前記複数のフォトニックバンドギャップファイバーを含むことを特徴とする、物品。
- 請求項2に記載の物品であって、各ロッドが個々に、5〜50マイクロメートルのロッド直径、およびそれが位置決めされている前記複合繊維の長さの5%以内であるロッド長さを有することを特徴とする、物品。
- 請求項1〜3のいずれか1項に記載の物品であって、前記複数の複合繊維が、前記複数のブラッグファイバーを含むことを特徴とする、物品。
- 請求項4に記載の物品であって、前記内部繊維コアおよび前記ホスト材料が、各々個々に、ポリカーボネートを含み、前記コントラスト材料の前記環が、フッ素化ポリマーを含むことを特徴とする、物品。
- 請求項1〜5のいずれか1項に記載の物品であって、前記コントラスト材料がコントラスト材料屈折率noを有し、前記マトリックス材料がマトリックス材料屈折率nmを有し、no≧1.2nmであり、前記ホスト材料がホスト屈折率nhを有し、nmがnhの10%以内であることを特徴とする、物品。
- 請求項1〜6のいずれか1項に記載の物品であって、前記複数の複合繊維が2〜10mmの平均複合繊維長さを有し、前記複数の複合繊維が、クラッディングを含まず50〜1,000マイクロメートルの平均最短寸法を有することを特徴とする、物品。
- 請求項1〜7のいずれか1項に記載の物品であって、前記複数の複合繊維が前記複合繊維の外面に位置決めされた繊維クラッディングを含み、前記繊維クラッディングが、0.1〜3mmの厚さを有することを特徴とする、物品。
- 請求項8に記載の物品であって、前記繊維クラッディングが、ポリカーボネート、ポリエステル、アクリロニトリル−ブタジエン−スチレンポリマーのうちの少なくとも1つを含むことを特徴とする、物品。
- 請求項1〜9のいずれか1項に記載の物品であって、前記ホスト材料がポリカーボネート、ポリエステル、アクリロニトリル−ブタジエン−スチレンポリマーのうちの少なくとも1つを含み、前記コントラスト材料が、ガラス、フルオロポリマーまたは熱屈折材料を含み、前記マトリックス材料が、ガラスまたは熱可塑性ポリマーを含むことを特徴とする、物品。
- 請求項1〜10のいずれか1項に記載の物品であって、前記マトリックス材料、前記ホスト材料が、同じであることを特徴とする、物品。
- 請求項1〜11のいずれか1項に記載の物品であって、前記赤外線遮断層の表面に位置決めされた、繊維非含有領域をさらに含むことを特徴とする、物品。
- 請求項1〜12のいずれか1項に記載の物品であって、窓または照明用レンズであることを特徴とする、物品。
- 請求項1〜13のいずれか1項に記載の物品を作製する方法であって、
ホスト材料および複数の複合繊維を混合して混合物を形成するステップ、ならびに
前記混合物から赤外線遮断層を形成するステップ
を含み、前記物品が前記赤外線遮断層を含むことを特徴とする、方法。 - 請求項14に記載の方法であって、前記赤外線遮断層を形成するステップが、射出成形、押出、フィルムインサート成形、インモールドコーティングのうちの少なくとも1つを含むことを特徴とする、方法。
- 請求項14〜15のいずれか1項に記載の方法であって、前記ホスト材料を溶融して溶融ホスト材料を形成するステップをさらに含み、
前記混合物を形成するステップが、前記複数の複合繊維を溶融ホスト材料と混合することを含み、前記複数の複合繊維が繊維クラッディングを含み、方法が、前記混合物を形成するステップおよび前記赤外線遮断層を形成するステップの間に、前記繊維クラッディングを部分的にのみ溶融するステップを含むことを特徴とする、方法。 - 請求項1〜13のいずれか1項に記載の物品を作製する方法であって、
複数の複合繊維を含まないホスト層、複数の複合繊維を含む繊維層および複数の複合繊維を含まない任意選択のポリマー層を含む積層スタックを形成するステップ、ならびに
前記ホスト層におよび任意選択で前記任意選択のポリマー層に、前記複数の複合繊維を包埋するステップを含むことを特徴とする、方法。 - 請求項17に記載の方法であって、前記積層スタックを形成するステップが、積層、フィルムインサート成形または反応射出成形を含むことを特徴とする、方法。
- 請求項1〜13のいずれか1項に記載の物品を作製する方法であって、
複合繊維を含まないホスト層、複数の複合繊維を含む繊維層および複合繊維を含まない任意選択のポリマー層を共押出するステップであり、前記複合繊維が、事前形成された繊維である、ステップ、ならびに
前記ホスト層および前記任意選択のポリマー層のうちの少なくとも1つに、前記複数の複合繊維を包埋するステップを含むことを特徴とする、方法。
