第1の実施形態において、本開示は、複数の機械的固定ストリップの製造方法であって、
ロールから熱可塑性フィルムの巻きを解くことであって、熱可塑性フィルムは第1の表面及び第1の表面の反対側の第2の表面を有し、熱可塑性フィルムの第1の表面には複数の雄固定要素が付いている、巻きを解くことと、
熱可塑性フィルムが塑性変形し幅が減少するように熱可塑性フィルムを機械方向に延伸することと、
延伸した熱可塑性フィルムを複数の機械的固定ストリップへとスリッティングすることと、
複数の機械的固定ストリップを巻いて複数のロールにすることと、を含み、巻きを解くこと、延伸すること、スリッティングすること、及び巻くことはインラインで遂行される、製造方法、を提供する。
複数のロールのうちの1つの巻きを解いて、第1の表面及び第1の表面の反対側の第2の表面を有する機械的固定ストリップを提供することであって、機械的固定ストリップの第1の表面は複数の雄固定要素が付いている、ことと、
機械的固定ストリップの第2の表面を基材に積層することと、を更に含む、第1〜第38の実施形態のいずれか1つに記載の製造方法を提供する。
フィルムグレードのポリプロピレン(PP)コポリマーである、ポリプロピレン耐衝撃性コポリマーは、Dow Chemical Company、Midland、MIから商品名「DOW C700−35N POLYPROPYLENE RESIN」として入手した。ポリマーの密度は、ASTM D972に従って測定したところ0.902g/ccであると報告され、メルトフローインデックス(MFI)は、ASTM D1238に従って測定したところ35(230℃及び2.16kgの負荷の下)であると報告された。
熱可塑性フィルムと一体の直立柱体のアレイを有する実質的に連続的な熱可塑性フィルムを調製した。直立柱体はキャップされていた。キャップ形状は卵形であり、その製造後、米国特許第6,132,660号(Kampfer)に記載の手順を用いて変形させて、「下向きに突出している繊維係合部分を有するフックヘッド」を得た。
「DOW C700−35N POLYPROPYLENE RESIN」のストリームを2インチ単軸スクリュー押出機に送り込んで、雄固定要素を有する熱可塑性フィルムを調製した。バレルゾーン1〜7はそれぞれ、176℃、170℃、180℃、190℃、200℃、218℃、及び218℃に設定した。次いで溶融樹脂をシートダイを通して回転式円筒形金型へと送り込んだ。ダイの温度は218℃に設定し、円筒状金型の温度は90℃に設定した。スクリュー速度は80rpmに設定した。金型の空洞部へ樹脂を急速に流し込むことで、流れ方向と平行に分子配向を生じさせた。金型を水冷して急冷することで、ポリマーにおける配向を維持した。柱体の密度は、1平方インチ当たり3500本の柱体(1平方センチメートル当たり542本の柱体)であって、これらは互い違いに配列されており、柱体の形状は円錐形であった。ウェブはキャップ形成装置に直接送り込んだ。柱体は、米国特許第5,845,375号(Millerら)に記載の手順を用いて、卵形状のキャップでキャップした。キャップは、その後、米国特許第6,132,660号(Kampfer)に記載の手順を用いて変形させた。ウェブは幅140mmであり、これを巻いてロールにした。
Claims (9)
- 機械的固定ストリップの製造方法であって、
ロールから熱可塑性フィルムの巻きを解くことであって、前記熱可塑性フィルムは第1の表面及び前記第1の表面の反対側の第2の表面を有し、前記熱可塑性フィルムの前記第1の表面には複数の雄固定要素が付いている、ことと、
前記熱可塑性フィルムが塑性変形し幅が減少するように前記熱可塑性フィルムを機械方向に延伸することと、
前記延伸した熱可塑性フィルムを複数の機械的固定ストリップへとスリッティングすることと、
前記複数の機械的固定ストリップを巻いて複数のロールにすることと、を含み、前記巻きを解くこと、前記延伸すること、前記スリッティングすること、及び前記巻くことはインラインで遂行され、前記方法は、
前記複数のロールのうちの1つの巻きを解いて、第1の表面及び前記第1の表面の反対側の第2の表面を有する機械的固定ストリップを提供することであって、前記機械的固定ストリップの前記第1の表面には複数の雄固定要素が付いている、ことと、
前記機械的固定ストリップの前記第2の表面を基材に積層することと、を更に含み、
前記基材は、吸収性物品の構成要素である、製造方法。 - 前記熱可塑性フィルムは、速度の異なる複数のローラによって前記機械方向に延伸される、請求項1に記載の製造方法。
- 前記熱可塑性フィルムを前記機械方向に延伸することにより、その幅を少なくとも10パーセント減少させる、請求項1又は2に記載の製造方法。
- 前記延伸後に、前記熱可塑性フィルムは、100ミリメートルよりも大きい幅を有する、請求項1〜3のいずれか一項に記載の製造方法。
- 前記熱可塑性フィルムは、前記機械方向に1.25倍〜5倍延伸される、請求項1〜4のいずれか一項に記載の製造方法。
- 前記熱可塑性フィルムは、ポリオレフィン、ポリアミド、又はポリエステルのうちの少なくとも1つを含む、請求項1〜5のいずれか一項に記載の製造方法。
- 前記熱可塑性フィルムが、ポリプロピレンを含み、耐衝撃性改良剤を更に含む、請求項6に記載の製造方法。
- 前記熱可塑性フィルムは、β相ポリプロピレンを含む、請求項6に記載の製造方法。
- 前記複数の機械的固定ストリップの各々は5ミリメートル〜50ミリメートルの範囲内の幅を有する、請求項1〜8のいずれか一項に記載の製造方法。
