Description
(1)本発明の一態様に係る酸素還元触媒は、二酸化炭素吸蔵材料としての機能を有する酸素還元触媒であって、炭素材料と、そのエッジ部にドープされたピリジン型窒素とを有し、前記ピリジン型窒素の含有率が、0.04at%以上10.00at%以下である。
(2)本発明の他の一態様に係る酸素還元触媒は、二酸化炭素吸蔵材料としての機能を有する酸素還元触媒であって、炭素材料と、前記炭素材料に吸着されたピリジン型窒素含有分子とを有し、前記ピリジン型窒素の含有率が、0.04at%以上10.00at%以下である。
(3)本発明の一態様に係る酸素還元触媒の活性化方法は、炭素材料と、そのエッジ部にドープされたピリジン型窒素とを有する酸素還元触媒の、触媒機能および二酸化炭素吸蔵機能を、前記ピリジン型窒素の含有率を調整して活性化させる。
(4)(3)に記載の酸素還元触媒の活性化方法において、前記ピリジン型窒素の含有率の調整を、前記炭素材料に占めるエッジ部の割合を調整して行ってもよい。
(5)本発明の他の一態様に係る酸素還元触媒の活性化方法は、炭素材料と、前記炭素材料に吸着されたピリジン型窒素含有分子とを有する酸素還元触媒の、触媒機能および二酸化炭素吸蔵機能を、前記ピリジン型窒素の含有率を調整して活性化させる。
(6)(5)に記載の酸素還元触媒の活性化方法において、前記ピリジン型窒素の含有率の調整を、前記炭素材料に占めるピリジン型窒素含有分子を付着部分の割合を調整して行ってもよい。
(7)(3)〜(6)のいずれか一つに記載の酸素還元触媒の活性化方法において、前記ピリジン型窒素の含有率を0.04at%以上10.00at%以下に調整してもよい。
(8)本発明の一態様に係る燃料電池触媒は、(1)および/または(2)に記載の酸素還元触媒を備えている。
[酸素還元触媒の構成]
本発明の第一実施形態に係る酸素還元触媒10の構成について、図1(a)を用いて説明する。図1(a)は、炭素材料にピリジン型窒素をドープして得られる酸素還元触媒10の分子構造を、模式的に示す図である。
第一実施形態に係る酸素還元触媒は、アンモニアと炭素材料を反応させて製造する。具体的には、酸素官能基を含む炭素材料を、アンモニア雰囲気中で700℃程度に加熱させることによって得られる。得られた酸素還元触媒10において、ピリジン型窒素の含有率が0.04at%以上10.00at%以下となるように、窒素量を調整する。窒素量の制御は、酸素官能基の残存量を制御して行う。
[酸素還元触媒の構成]
本発明の第二実施形態に係る酸素還元触媒20の構成について、図1(b)を用いて説明する。図1(b)は、炭素材料21にピリジン型窒素含有分子23を吸着させて得られる酸素還元触媒20の分子構造を、模式的に示す図である。
第二実施形態に係る酸素還元触媒20は、所定の容器にグラフェンの粉末を収容し、その容器に、窒素含有分子をアルコールに投入した液体を滴下し、容器内を攪拌することによって得ることができる。得られた窒素ドープグラファイトからなる酸素還元触媒20において、ピリジン型窒素の含有率が0.04 at%以上10.00at%以下となるように、窒素含有分子を投入する量を調整する。
(実施例1)
実施例1のサンプルとして、表面に溝部を形成し(表面を劈開し)、溝部の内壁面に窒素原子をドープしたグラファイト(N−HOPG(窒素ドープ高配向性熱分解グラファイト))を準備した。このグラファイトは、上述した第一実施形態に係る酸素還元触媒のモデル触媒200に相当する。このモデル触媒200について、図2(a)〜(c)を用いて説明する。
比較例1のサンプルとして、平坦な表面に窒素をドープしたグラファイト(grap−HOPG)を準備した。グラファイト中の窒素の含有率を0.73at%とした。含有される窒素のうち、ピリジン型窒素の含有率を82%とし、グラファイト型窒素の含有率を5at%とした。窒素種の構成以外については、実施例1と同条件とした。
比較例2、3のサンプルとして、それぞれ、表面に溝部を形成したグラファイト(edge−HOPG)、平坦な表面を有するグラファイト(clean−HOPG)を準備した。
ピリジン型窒素の導入によって、炭素材料のどの部位に活性点が形成されたのかを調べた。本発明者のこれまでの研究により、ピリジン型窒素が炭素材料に導入されると、ピリジン型窒素の隣のπ共役系を形成している炭素原子に局在化した電子準位が形成され、これがルイス塩基として機能することが示唆されている(非特許文献14)。このような部位に、酸素還元反応の最初の段階である酸素吸着が起こる可能性がある。
(実施例2〜6、比較例4〜6)
表1に示すように、ピリジン型窒素、グラファイト型窒素の含有率を変えた実施例2〜6、比較例4〜6のサンプルを準備した。各サンプルを構成する炭素材料を、N−GNS(窒素ドープグラフェン)とした。炭素材料、各窒素種の含有率以外の構成については、実施例1と同条件とした。これらのサンプルに対して酸素還元反応試験を行った。
(実施例7〜9)
実施例7〜9のサンプルとして、窒素をドープしたグラフェン(GNS)の粉末を準備した。実施例7〜9のサンプルにおけるグラフェン中の窒素の含有率を、それぞれ1.7at%、2.4at%、8.1at%とした。
(実施例10〜13、比較例3)
実施例10〜13として、それぞれ異なるピリジン型窒素含有分子を、分子吸着型HOPG(高配向性熱分解グラファイト)に吸着させたサンプルを準備した。この吸着は、実施例10〜13のHOPGに対して、それぞれ異なるピリジン型窒素含有分子を有機溶媒に溶かして得た液体を滴下して行った。

(実施例13〜18、比較例4)
実施例13〜18、比較例4として、それぞれ異なる分子吸着型の炭素材料(担体)に、ピリジン型窒素含有分子を吸着させたサンプルを準備した。炭素材料以外の構成については、実施例1と同条件とした炭素材料としては、表面積が70m2/gのカーボンブラック(CB)、表面積が750m2/gのグラフェンナノシート(GNS)を用いた。

Claims (8)
- 二酸化炭素吸蔵材料としての機能を有する酸素還元触媒であって、
炭素材料と、そのエッジ部にドープされたピリジン型窒素とを有し、前記ピリジン型窒素の含有率が、0.57at%以上10.00at%以下であり、
前記エッジ部の表面が劈開面であることを特徴とする酸素還元触媒。 - 二酸化炭素吸蔵材料としての機能を有する酸素還元触媒であって、
炭素材料と、前記炭素材料に吸着されたピリジン型窒素含有分子とを有し、前記ピリジン型窒素の含有率が、0.59at%以上10.00at%以下であることを特徴とする酸素還元触媒。 - 触媒活性点が、前記ピリジン型窒素の隣の炭素原子であることを特徴とする請求項1または2のいずれかに記載の酸素還元触媒。
- 炭素材料と、その劈開されたエッジ部の表面にドープされたピリジン型窒素とを有する酸素還元触媒の、触媒機能および二酸化炭素吸蔵機能を、前記ピリジン型窒素の含有率を0.57at%以上10.00at%以下に調整して活性化させることを特徴とする酸素還元触媒の活性化方法。
- 前記ピリジン型窒素の前記含有率の調整を、前記炭素材料に占めるエッジ部の割合を調整して行うことを特徴とする請求項4に記載の酸素還元触媒の活性化方法。
- 炭素材料と、前記炭素材料に吸着されたピリジン型窒素含有分子とを有する酸素還元触媒の、触媒機能および二酸化炭素吸蔵機能を、前記ピリジン型窒素の含有率を調整して活性化させることを特徴とする酸素還元触媒の活性化方法。
- 前記ピリジン型窒素の含有率の調整を、前記炭素材料に占めるピリジン型窒素含有分子を付着部分の割合を調整して行うことを特徴とする請求項6に記載の酸素還元触媒の活性化方法。
- 請求項1および/または請求項2に記載の酸素還元触媒を備えていることを特徴とする燃料電池触媒。
