Description
The present invention relates to an X-ray imaging apparatus and its data transfer, and particularly relates to signal processing in an X-ray imaging apparatus using fine pixels.
The X-ray CT apparatus, which is one of the X-ray imaging apparatus, is an apparatus for obtaining a tomographic image of a subject from the attenuation rate when X-rays generated from an X-ray tube pass through the subject. Until now, X-ray CT devices have used scintillators that convert X-rays into light and photodiodes that convert the light into electrical signals, and X-ray detection information was detected by the scintillator at a fixed time. It was only obtained as the sum of the X-ray energies. For this reason, even if beam hardening occurs in which the X-ray spectrum changes while passing through the subject, there is a problem that the change cannot be discerned and becomes an artifact. To avoid this problem, It was necessary to make corrections based on a model as in
On the other hand, as another means for solving this problem, as mentioned in
In order to know the individual energy of X-rays, it is necessary to increase the conversion efficiency from X-rays to electrical signals, and a direct conversion type detector using a semiconductor is used. As a semiconductor material, a material having a large effective atomic number and density such as CdTe or CZT (Cd Zn Te) is used. This is to increase the stopping power of X-rays, and it is possible to make the detector thinner. The semiconductor element is not prepared for each pixel, but is made into a detection pixel by forming an electrode divided on the surface of one large semiconductor element.
When X-ray imaging is performed with a photon counting X-ray CT device (hereinafter referred to as photon counting CT), which is one of the X-ray imaging devices, radiation photons are generated rather than a nuclear medicine examination that also performs radiation counting. The number is large and the counting rate in the detector is high. Therefore, it is necessary to reduce the count rate per channel by reducing the size of the detector pixels. In the detector of a normal X-ray CT device (hereinafter referred to as conventional CT), the detectors are lined up at a pitch of about 1 mm, but in the photon counting CT, the detector pixels are miniaturized to a pitch of 0.5 mm to 0.05 mm. There is a need. However, when the detector pixels are miniaturized, the number of read channels increases, and the amount of data increases accordingly. In addition, since the photon counting CT acquires the count number for each energy window, it is necessary to increase the data transfer amount as compared with the conventional CT. On the other hand, in both the conventional CT and the photon counting CT, in order to transfer data from the detector mounted on the rotating disk, it is necessary to communicate via a slip ring, and the detector is fixed. There is a limit to the data transfer speed in comparison. Therefore, it is not desirable to transfer a large amount of data, it is necessary to compress the data, and it is desirable to add the data of the miniaturized detector before transferring.
Since the conventional CT is a method of detecting the amount of generated charge without counting, a method of switching the signals of individual detectors by connecting the signals from the detectors as shown in
In photon counting CT, although it is possible to acquire a sufficient image by using the added data in normal measurement, data is acquired in order to correct variations in the sensitivity and characteristics of individual detectors and circuits. It is necessary, and for that purpose, the information of each detector pixel before addition is required. Further, the data before addition includes more detailed position information, and it is desirable to use the data before addition when acquiring a high-resolution image. For this reason, unlike general data acquisition, when correcting correction data or acquiring high-resolution images, data compression by addition cannot be performed, and a method such as preparing a wide data band is required. If a separate collection system is prepared for such data acquisition, there is a problem that the system becomes large-scale and complicated.
An object of the present invention is to realize the transfer of data for correction or with different accuracy of position resolution without complicating the circuit.
In order to solve the above problem, according to the present invention, a detector that is divided into a plurality of subpixels and each detects an X-ray photon, and a read that counts the detection result for each subpixel of the detector for each view time. An output circuit that processes the count results of the circuit and the read circuit and outputs them in order in a transferable predetermined data array, a data processing device that receives the data output by the output circuit and at least reconstructs the image, and an output. A first mode in which the circuit is set to add and output a count result for each macropixel composed of a predetermined number of adjacent subpixels, and a second mode in which the count result is set to be output for each subpixel. It has an input unit that accepts any of the above selections from the user. The output circuit outputs the data corresponding to the set mode.
According to the present invention, it is possible to transfer data for correction or with different accuracy of position resolution without complicating the circuit.
Examples of the data processing of the present invention will be described below with reference to the drawings.
<First Example>
A first embodiment of the data processing method of the present invention will be described with reference to FIGS. 1 to 18. FIG. 1 shows an example of the X-ray CT apparatus of this embodiment. The X-ray CT apparatus includes a

FIG. 2 shows an example of the configuration of the detector panel 7. The detector panel 7 includes a collimator 11 for removing scattered rays generated by a
The data processing circuit 14 includes a plurality of ICs mounted on the substrate, digitizes the electric signal converted by the radiation detector 10, and transmits it to the system as a specific data format (data array).
FIG. 3 is an example of a circuit included in the detector panel 7. The detector panel 7 is connected to a radiation detector (hereinafter, also simply referred to as a detector) 10 and a plurality of detectors 10, and a readout circuit (reading circuit) that counts the detection result for each subpixel 12 of the detector 10 for each view time. A front-end IC) 15 and an output circuit (data processing IC) 16 connected to a plurality of front-end ICs 15 that processes the count result of the read circuit, converts it into data in a predetermined format that can be transferred, and outputs it in order. Including. It also includes a data transfer circuit 17 that bundles data from a plurality of data processing ICs 16 and outputs the data to the
When the detector 10 receives radiation, it generates an electric signal at the received subpixel 12. The front-end IC 15 converts the signal from the detector 10 into a digitized radiation intensity signal.
FIG. 4 is an example of the circuit configuration of the front-end IC 15. One subpixel 12 of the detector 10 is connected to one
コンパレータ34のもう一方の入力端子は、それぞれDAC(Digital Analog Converter)35に接続されている。
The
In such a configuration, in one subpixel 12 of the detector 10, the radiation (photon) signal converted into the charge signal is converted into the voltage signal by the
The X-ray event (pulse) determined by the comparator 34 and generated is counted by the counter 37. In the photon counting CT, thousands of images are acquired per second while rotating the gantry, and the data necessary for reconstructing the tomographic image is acquired. Therefore, the cycle for acquiring one image is called the view time, and the information of the radiation incident within this time is acquired as one projected image. It is desirable that the switching time is short because the invalid exposure increases when it takes time to switch the views. Therefore, two sets of counters 37 (counter 37A and counter 37B) are prepared, and a method of switching for each view is used. Therefore, as shown in FIG. 4, the counter 37A and the counter 37B are connected to the comparator 36. As a result, while the data (pulse) is being counted up by one counter 37A, the data is read from the other counter 37B, and in another view, the opposite counters 37 count up and read the data, respectively. It can be done and the switching time can be minimized. These controls are performed by the data control circuit 38.

Next, data transfer by the data transfer circuit 17 of this embodiment will be described. FIG. 7 is an example of the data format in this embodiment. Data is acquired for each view. A view is a one-way projection image with a data rate of about 3000 views per second. Therefore, the period of one view is about 300 μsec. Data is transferred from the data transfer circuit 17 to the
また、フッター83は、CRC(Cyclic Redundancy Check)によるエラーチェック用のデータを含む。

If data of all combinations of energy and position coordinates are collectively made into a packet, the length of one packet becomes long, so that it is possible to divide the packet into a plurality of packets from the viewpoint of data processing. FIG. 9 shows a specific packet. This is an example of dividing each energy into a format including a
FIG. 10 shows a method of processing information of the subpixel 12 in the data processing IC 16. In the normal mode, the data acquired in one view time is the sum of the data of the four subpixels 12 and stored as the information of one macro pixel 13. This process is performed by selecting the data of the four adjacent subpixels 12 from the
The apparatus in this embodiment has a data output mode in which the data of the individual subpixels 12 is output as it is, in addition to the above addition mode when the correction data of the detector 10 is acquired. FIG. 11 shows the data output in the
FIG. 12 shows the operation of each circuit included in the data processing IC 16 in the
The output process by the data output control circuit 25 is divided into three processes. Process 231 outputs the header section,
FIG. 13 is an example showing details of processing for one view of the data processing IC 16 in the
The address generation circuit 23 in this embodiment calculates the address of the sub-pixel 12 from the address of the macro pixel 13, but a table as shown in FIG. 14 may be stored in the built-in memory in advance. This table holds the corresponding subpixels 12 for all macropixels 13. The address of the subpixel may be calculated by combining the holding by the table and the calculation.
Next, the processing operation of each part of the data processing IC 16 in the
FIG. 17 is a modified example of this embodiment. In the modified example, the information of the two subpixels 12 in the Y direction is added, but the information in the X direction is separated. Therefore, two sub-pixels 12 are added using two data areas of the
FIG. 18 is an example of a table used by the address generation circuit 23 when obtaining an address in the modified example of FIG. Addresses of two subpixels 12 are generated for one macro pixel 13. By passing the address of the subpixel 12 to the data selection circuit 21, the process is executed in the same manner as in the
As described above, in this embodiment, it is possible to switch the data acquisition mode (
In this embodiment, the number of subpixels 12 included in the macro pixel 13 is shown as 2 × 2 4 pixels, but it may be composed of other subpixels.
<Second Example>
A second embodiment will be described with reference to FIGS. 19 to 23.
The second embodiment is different from the first embodiment in that the data acquired in one view time is transferred using a plurality of view times. FIG. 19 shows the configuration of the data processing circuit in this embodiment. In this embodiment, the number of macro pixel buffers 22 in the data processing IC 16 is larger than that in the first embodiment, and the count data of the macro pixels 13 at a plurality of times can be held in the data processing IC 16.
In the first embodiment, the data acquired within a certain view time is allocated to the data area and transferred to the
FIG. 20 shows an example of data allocation of the data of the subpixel 12 to the macro pixel buffers 22A to 22E in the second embodiment. As shown in FIG. 20, at the view time N, the four data taken into the
FIG. 22 is a diagram showing a processing operation example of the data processing IC 16 in the
In this embodiment, the address generation circuit 23 always generates a write address (
FIG. 23 is a diagram showing details of circuit operation in the correction mode and the high resolution mode in this embodiment. The
In this embodiment, five macro pixel buffers are used to output data every four view times, but M + 1 or more macro pixel buffers are used to output data every M view times. By doing so, the number of views can be expanded.
In this embodiment, the data of time N is output instead of the data output from time N + 1 to N + 4 in the normal imaging mode, and is output between time N-3 and N-1 and from N + 1 to N + 3. Although the data during the period is discarded, it is possible to add these data to the data at time N by changing the control of the front-end IC 15. The front-end IC 15 includes two counters 37 that switch for each view. In normal measurement, this switching is performed for each view, so the number of counts is counted for each view. However, this switching is performed by the data processing IC 16, and it is not always necessary to switch every view time. Utilizing this characteristic, it is possible to integrate all the counts during the view switching in the front-end IC by extending the switching cycle such as between time N and N + 1 and between N + 4 and N + 5. By performing such processing, it is possible to prevent loss of the count number of X-ray photons, and since the count number is increased, it is possible to improve the statistical accuracy.
Although the present embodiment is a technique for expanding the buffer in the time direction, it is also possible to use this technique in combination with the method for limiting the acquired pixels in the first embodiment.
In performing this embodiment, the
<Third Example>
A third embodiment will be described with reference to FIGS. 24 to 25.
The third embodiment differs from the second embodiment in that a part of the subpixel 12 is added. In the second embodiment, the data of each subpixel 12 was directly assigned to the
FIG. 24 is a diagram showing an example of allocating data in this embodiment. As shown in FIG. 24, in the third embodiment, different information is output for the odd-numbered view and the even-numbered view. In this embodiment, the result of adding the counts of the two subpixels on the left side contained in the macro pixel is output to the N + 1 and N + 3rd, and the two subs on the right side included in the macro pixel are output to the N + 2 and N + 4th. The result of adding the pixel counts is output. As a result, it is possible to send data to the
This embodiment can be realized by using three macro pixel buffers 22 for writing to the two macro pixel buffers 22 as illustrated in the second embodiment, and the same five as in the second embodiment. It can also be realized by using the macro pixel buffer 22 (22A to 22E). That is, it is possible to use the same hardware as the second embodiment in this embodiment, and any embodiment can be realized by control. FIG. 25 shows an example of the processing operation of the data processing IC 16 of this embodiment. The address generation circuit 23 generates a subpixel address corresponding to the
In this embodiment, the data format output in each view is fixed, and the hardware configuration is also the same as in the second embodiment. <Fourth Example>
A fourth embodiment will be described with reference to FIG.
The fourth embodiment is different from the first embodiment in that the allocation position of the subpixel is extended in the energy direction. In the photon counting CT in this embodiment, since the count number for each energy window is transmitted to the
The photon counting CT is provided with a plurality of energy windows, and the example of FIG. 26 shows a case where the number of energy windows is 4. The data of only one energy in the
This technique can be used in the
Each of the above-described embodiments can be combined individually, and the spatial resolution, the time resolution, and the energy resolution can be balanced by assigning the combination of time, energy, and position to a specific format.
