- Measuring Oxygen Concentration In Cells (AREA)
Description
The present invention relates to a sensor probe, for example, a sensor probe for measuring a gas concentration in molten metal and a method of using the same .
In order to reduce defects such as pinholes during casting due to gas in molten metal, a sensor for measuring the concentration of hydrogen or oxygen gas components in molten metal has been put into practical use.
In a conventional hydrogen sensor, one end of a solid electrolyte is immersed in a molten metal (metal melt) and the other end is exposed to a reference gas, so that protons (hydrogen ions) move in the solid electrolyte to generate a potential difference, thereby forming a concentration cell. .. The hydrogen concentration is detected by measuring this potential difference (specifically, voltage).
The conventional sensor probe obtains the hydrogen concentration from the potential difference between the outer surface and the inner surface of the solid electrolyte, and the potential of the outer surface of the solid electrolyte is obtained by the external electrode. A conductive cylindrical sleeve formed so as to surround the solid electrolyte is used as the external electrode. Heat-resistant stainless steel is used as the sleeve.
When this conventional sensor probe is used as a hydrogen sensor in molten copper of tough pitch copper, an oxide film is formed on the surface of the sleeve, and molten copper is prevented from eroding the sleeve. The molten tough pitch copper contains oxygen at a concentration of several tens of ppm to several hundreds of ppm.
However, if a conventional sensor probe is used to detect hydrogen gas in a melt of oxygen-free copper with an oxygen concentration of several ppm or less, the sensor probe is damaged due to the reduction of the oxide film on the sleeve surface, resulting in measurement failure. There was a problem.
The present invention has been made in view of the above circumstances, and an object of the present invention is to provide a sensor probe that does not cause measurement failure even for an object to be measured having a low oxygen concentration, and a method of using the sensor probe.
The present inventors have completed the present invention as a result of repeated studies on the configuration of the sensor probe in order to solve the above problems.
The sensor probe of the present invention is made of conductive ceramics or a conductive refractory material, and has a cylindrical sleeve having an opening at the tip, and a cylindrical metal tube made of metal and fixed to the upper part of the sleeve, A rod-shaped sensor provided in the sleeve, which includes an electrolyte part made of a bottomed cylindrical solid electrolyte and a reference electrode connected to the inner peripheral surface of the electrolyte part, the reference electrode, and a metal tube. And a potential difference measuring unit which is connected to the sleeve and measures a potential difference between the reference electrode and the sleeve .
The sensor probe of the present invention is made of conductive ceramics or a conductive refractory material, and is provided with a cylindrical sleeve having an opening at its tip. For this reason, unlike the conventional sensor probe, a metal sleeve is not required. With this configuration, erosion of the sleeve is suppressed. As a result, the sensor probe of the present invention is a sensor probe that does not cause measurement failure even for an object to be measured having a low oxygen concentration.
Further, in the sensor probe of the present invention, since the sleeve itself also functions as an external electrode, it is not necessary to use the external electrode separately. This can reduce the number of parts and reduce the size of the sensor probe itself. Further, the sensor probe does not cause measurement failure due to a failure of the external electrode.
The method of using the sensor probe of the present invention is a cylindrical sleeve made of conductive ceramics or a conductive refractory material, having a cylindrical sleeve having an opening at the tip, and made of metal. A rod-shaped sensor arranged in a sleeve, which includes a tube, a bottomed tubular solid electrolyte part, and a reference electrode connected to an inner peripheral surface of the electrolyte part, a reference electrode, and a metal tube. A sleeve is connected via, and a potential difference measuring unit for measuring the potential difference between the reference electrode and the sleeve is provided, and the tip is immersed in a melt of oxygen-free copper to measure the hydrogen concentration in the melt. Is characterized by.
Hereinafter, the present invention will be specifically described with reference to the embodiments. Specifically, the present invention will be specifically described using a hydrogen concentration sensor in which molten metal (molten metal) is copper. It should be noted that these embodiments are examples of embodiments in which the sensor probe of the present invention is specifically implemented, and the present invention is not limited to these embodiments.
[Embodiment 1]
The
The
The
As the solid electrolyte forming the
When α-alumina contains a divalent alkaline earth metal (eg, Mg, Ca), it acts as a solid electrolyte exhibiting proton conductivity at high temperatures. Therefore, when one surface comes into contact with the molten metal containing hydrogen, the protons move in the solid electrolyte and reach the other surface in contact with the reference gas, resulting in a potential difference and a concentration battery. The potential difference between one surface and the other surface is measured, and the hydrogen concentration of the molten metal is determined by comparing with the value calibrated in advance. In this embodiment, the outer convex surface of the solid electrolyte (electrolyte part 20) is in contact with the molten metal, and the inner concave surface is in contact with the reference gas.
The
The
In the present embodiment, the thickness of the
The electromotive force of the solid electrolyte forming the
The
The
The
The electrically conductive ceramics or electrically conductive refractory forming the
The material of the conductive ceramics or the conductive refractory material is limited as long as it can exhibit electric conductivity and heat resistance when immersed in the molten metal (that is, when exposed to the molten metal temperature). is not. For example, graphite-based, silicon-graphite-based, alumina-graphite-based, and zirconia-graphite-based ceramics can be used. The
In the
In the
In the
As shown in FIG. 1, the
The sealing
The material of the sealing

(効果A)

The
