Description
コージェライト化原料に、造孔材、有機バインダ及び水を添加して成形原料とした。成形原料を、混合、混練して円柱状の坏土を調製した。有機バインダとしては、メチルセルロースを用い、コージェライト化原料100質量部に対して5質量部添加した。水は分散媒として添加し、成形原料全体に対して10質量%となるように添加した。コージェライト原料は、焼成によりコージェライトとなる原料である。具体的には、シリカ(SiO2)が42〜56質量%、アルミナ(Al2O3)が30〜45質量%、マグネシア(MgO)が12〜16質量%の範囲に入る化学組成となるように「所定の原料」が混合されたセラミックス原料である。ここで、「所定の原料」は、タルク、カオリン、仮焼カオリン、アルミナ、水酸化アルミニウム、及びシリカのうちから選択された原料である。
実施例1と同様の方法で、下記表1に記載した構造となるようにセル密度、壁厚や未外壁領域の割合を変えたものを製作した。実施例4、5および比較例1は、フランジ外壁長さVが10mm、フランジ端面長さV1,V2がそれぞれ5mmとなるように製作した。また、実施例8および実施例9は、ハニカム焼成体の直径が230mmのものを研削してハニカム基材およびフランジ部を形成した。研削後のハニカム基材の外周に、表1に示すパターンおよび未外壁領域の比率となるように外周コート材を塗布した。
2.0Lガソリンエンジン車をシャーシダイナモ上で走行させ、実施例1〜15、及び比較例1〜6を用いた排ガス浄化装置の浄化性能の評価を行った。具体的には、2.0Lガソリンエンジン車を欧州NEDCモードで運転し、欧州NEDCモード走行中における、排ガス中の、炭化水素(HC)、一酸化炭素(CO)、窒素酸化物(NOX)の排出量(単位:g/km)を測定した。実施例1〜15、及び比較例1〜3の排ガス浄化装置について、セル密度および壁厚が同じものを基準として以下のA〜Dの評価基準で評価した。即ち、実施例1〜11および比較例1〜3は比較例4を基準とし、実施例12、13は比較例5を基準とし、実施例14、15は比較例6を基準として評価した。
A:評価対象の排ガス浄化装置のHC排出量、CO排出量、及びNOX排出量の排出量比率のうち、最も値の大きな排出量比率が、93%以下である。
B:評価対象の排ガス浄化装置のHC排出量、CO排出量、及びNOX排出量の排出量比率のうち、最も値の大きな排出量比率が、93%を超え、96%以下である。
C:評価対象の排ガス浄化装置のHC排出量、CO排出量、及びNOX排出量の排出量比率のうち、最も値の大きな排出量比率が、96%を超え、99%以下である。
D:評価対象の排ガス浄化装置のHC排出量、CO排出量、及びNOX排出量の排出量比率のうち、最も値の大きな排出量比率が、99%を超える。
前記浄化性能試験後におけるハニカム構造体の外観を目視でチェックし、触媒担持、缶体への収納、組み立てから浄化性能試験の間における破損状況を観察し次の評価基準で評価した。
A:破損等の異常が全く見られなかった。
B:破損があるが破損部分の最大寸法が1mm未満であり、2箇所以下であった。
C:破損があるが破損部分の最大寸法が2mm未満であり、3箇所以下であった。
D:破損があり破損部分の最大寸法が2mm以上であった。
Claims (6)
- 一方の端面から他方の端面まで延びる流体の流路となる複数のセルを区画形成する格子状の隔壁及びハニカム外壁を備えるハニカム基材と、
前記ハニカム基材の前記ハニカム外壁の一部に取設され、一方のフランジ端面から他方のフランジ端面まで延びる複数のフランジセルを区画形成する格子状のフランジ隔壁及びフランジ外壁を備えるフランジ部と
を有し、
前記ハニカム基材は、
基材外周面を周方向に沿って囲むようにしてハニカム外壁が設けられた外壁領域、及び、前記周方向に沿って前記ハニカム外壁が設けられていない未外壁領域を有し、
前記ハニカム外壁が設けられていない前記未外壁領域が、前記基材外周面の総面積に対し、10〜90%の範囲であるハニカム構造体。 - 前記未外壁領域は、
前記基材外周面の総面積に対し、40〜80%の範囲である請求項1に記載のハニカム構造体。 - 前記ハニカム基材は、
前記セルに所定の配設基準の目封止部を有する請求項1または2に記載のハニカム構造体。 - 前記ハニカム基材の前記未外壁領域におけるハニカム径は、
前記ハニカム外壁を有する外壁領域におけるハニカム径に対して小さい請求項1〜3のいずれか一項に記載のハニカム構造体。 - 前記フランジ部は、
前記フランジ外壁に対して傾斜したテーパー部を有する請求項1〜4のいずれか一項に記載のハニカム構造体。 - 前記フランジ部は、
前記ハニカム基材の中心軸に対し、偏心した位置にフランジ中心軸を有する請求項1〜5のいずれか一項に記載のハニカム構造体。
