Description
The present invention relates to a release layer forming material and a method for producing a release paper.
Release paper is widely used in various fields. The release paper typically has a base paper layer, a sealing layer (for example, a clay coat layer, a polymer coating layer), and a release layer composed of a release layer forming material such as silicone (for example, Patent Document 1). From the viewpoint of material cost, production efficiency, and recycling of the base paper, omission of the sealing layer is preferable. In the case of using clogged base paper such as glassine paper, a release layer forming material such as silicone is directly applied to the base paper to form a release layer. However, except for glassine paper, if the sealing layer is omitted, the release layer forming material penetrates into the base paper, and the release function of the release paper often becomes insufficient. Therefore, there is a need for a release layer forming material that can form a release layer directly on a base paper regardless of the type of base paper.
The present invention has been made in order to solve the above-described conventional problems. The object of the present invention is to provide a release layer forming material capable of directly forming a release layer on a base paper, regardless of the type of base paper, and It is in providing the simple manufacturing method of release paper.

The release layer forming material of the present invention includes a solvent type, solventless type or emulsion type silicone having thixotropic properties.
In one embodiment, the release layer forming material has a thixotropy index TI defined by the following formula: 1.80 to 7.00:
Thixotropic index TI = ηa / ηb
Here, ηa is the viscosity at a shear rate of 5 rpm in the E-type viscometer, and ηb is the viscosity at a shear rate of 50 rpm in the E-type viscometer.
In one embodiment, the release layer forming material includes cellulose nanofibers.
In one embodiment, the release layer forming material has organosiloxane bonded to the cellulose nanofiber.
According to another aspect of the present invention, a method for producing a release paper is provided. In this manufacturing method, the paper constituting the base paper layer is prepared; the release layer forming material is directly applied to the paper; and the release layer forming material is cured to form the release layer. Including.
According to the embodiment of the present invention, a release layer forming material capable of directly forming a release layer on a base paper regardless of the type of the base paper can be obtained by imparting thixotropy to the release layer forming material. . Furthermore, by forming a release layer using such a release layer forming material, the release layer is directly provided on the base paper layer (that is, the sealing layer is omitted), and excellent A release paper having a peeling function can be easily produced.
Hereinafter, although embodiment of this invention is described, this invention is not limited to these embodiment.
<Peeling layer forming material>
The release layer forming material according to the embodiment of the present invention can be typically used for forming a release layer of a release paper. The release layer forming material of the present invention includes a solvent type, solventless type or emulsion type silicone having thixotropic properties. By using a solvent-type, solvent-free type, or emulsion-type silicone having thixotropic properties, thixotropic properties are imparted to the release layer forming material. When the release layer forming material has thixotropic properties, penetration into the paper substrate can be suppressed without deteriorating the coatability of the release layer forming material. The solvent-type and emulsion-type silicones only need to have thixotropic properties in a state containing a solvent or an aqueous medium. The content of the solvent-type, solvent-free type or emulsion-type silicone in the release layer-forming material (solvent type and emulsion type in which the solvent is combined) is preferably 90% to 99.99% by weight, more preferably Is 92% to 99.98% by weight, more preferably 93% to 99.97% by weight. When the content is in such a range, excellent coating properties can be realized, and a release layer having excellent release performance can be obtained. The solvent type is a form in which silicone is diluted with an organic solvent; the solventless type is a form in which silicone does not contain an organic solvent; the emulsion type is a form in which silicone is emulsified in an aqueous medium. These forms are properly used according to the purpose and application. In the normal form, these easily penetrate into the base paper layer of the release paper. According to the present invention, by adding thixotropy to them, the base paper can be used regardless of the type of base paper. Can be prevented. As a result, regardless of the type of base paper, a release layer can be directly provided on the base paper (that is, the sealing layer can be omitted). Furthermore, since it is not necessary to increase the viscosity excessively in order to suppress penetration, desired coatability can be maintained. As a result, a release paper in which a release layer is directly provided on the base paper layer can be easily produced.
The silicone can typically be an addition type silicone. Addition type silicones are, for example, polysiloxanes containing at least two SiH groups in one molecule, polysiloxanes containing at least two carbon-carbon double bonds that undergo an addition reaction in the presence of a SiH group and a platinum catalyst. It consists of siloxane and cures by reacting at room temperature or by heating. Addition type silicones are well known in the art and will not be described in detail.
The thixotropy can be evaluated with the aid of “the shear stress dependency of viscosity (thixotropy index)” used in the field of paints and printing. As used herein, the “thixotropic index TI” is defined as follows:
Thixotropic index TI = ηa / ηb
Here, ηa is the viscosity at a shear rate of 5 rpm in the E-type viscometer, and ηb is the viscosity at a shear rate of 50 rpm in the E-type viscometer.
The TI of the release layer forming material is preferably 1.80 to 7.00, more preferably 1.85 to 6.50, and still more preferably 1.90 to 6.00. When the TI is in such a range, it is possible to achieve both suppression of penetration into the base paper and excellent coating properties.
Any appropriate method can be adopted as a method for imparting thixotropy to the solvent-type, solvent-free type or emulsion-type silicone (as a result, the release layer-forming material). Typical examples include adding an additive known as a thixotropic agent or a rheological additive (low molecular or high molecular compound, fine particles such as silica) and adding cellulose nanofibers. It is preferable to add cellulose nanofibers. This is because cellulose nanofibers can form a network structure by entanglement of long fibers, so that the network structure is not easily destroyed by heat and the possibility of inhibiting the activity of the platinum curing catalyst is low. As a result, the penetration of the release layer forming material into the base paper can be suppressed, and a release layer having excellent release performance due to appropriate curing can be easily and stably formed.
Cellulose nanofibers have an average fiber diameter of preferably 200 nm or less, more preferably 50 nm or less, and further preferably 1 nm to 10 nm. Cellulose nanofibers have an average aspect ratio (fiber length / fiber diameter) of preferably 10 to 1000, more preferably 10 to 500, and still more preferably 100 to 350.
The content of cellulose nanofibers in the release layer forming material can be appropriately set according to the purpose, desired thixotropy and the like. For example, the content of the cellulose nanofibers can be set so that the TI of the release layer forming material is in the above-described preferable range. For example, the content of cellulose nanofibers is preferably 0.01% by weight to 10% by weight, more preferably 0.02% by weight to 8% by weight, and still more preferably based on the total amount of the release layer forming material. Is 0.03% to 7% by weight.
Cellulose nanofibers include cellulose obtained by enzymatic treatment or chemical treatment (such as TEMPO oxidation) or mechanical defibration of wood pulp, and bacterial cellulose (fermented nanocellulose) produced by microorganisms. The type is not particularly limited as long as it can provide thixotropy.
When the release layer forming material contains a solvent-type or solvent-free type silicone, the cellulose nanofibers may preferably be bonded with a polyorganosiloxane. Since the dispersibility of cellulose nanofibers in silicone is improved due to the bonding of polyorganosiloxane, it is possible to impart thixotropic properties to silicone even in a small amount compared to the case where polyorganosiloxane is not bonded. . The polyorganosiloxane to be bonded is preferably polydimethylsiloxane or polymethylphenylsiloxane. The molecular weight of the polyorganosiloxane to be bonded is preferably 500 to 50000, more preferably 700 to 40000, and still more preferably 1000 to 30000. When the molecular weight is in such a range, a remarkable dispersion effect is obtained, and thixotropic properties can be expressed well. The binding amount is preferably 0.001 g to 0.5 g, more preferably 0.005 g to 0.35 g, and still more preferably 0.01 g to 0.25 g per 1 g of cellulose nanofiber. When the binding amount is in such a range, a remarkable dispersion effect can be obtained, and thixotropic properties can be expressed well. In addition, when using an emulsion type silicone, the polyorganosiloxane may not be bonded.
As a method of bonding polyorganosiloxane to cellulose nanofiber, a method of chemically bonding a hydrophobic organic molecule to a carboxyl group on a cellulose molecule described in JP2013-545944A or JP2015-934A. Can be used. The descriptions in these publications are incorporated herein by reference. Specific examples include a method of bonding a polyorganosiloxane having a reactive group at the terminal or side chain, a method of bonding a polyorganosiloxane having a carboxyl group at the terminal or side chain to a hydroxyl group on the cellulose molecule, and presence of cellulose nanofibers. A method of bonding a polyorganosiloxane having an unsaturated double bond group using a radical is used. A method of bonding a polyorganosiloxane having an unsaturated double bond group using a radical is preferable because it is simple.
The method for bonding a polyorganosiloxane having an unsaturated double bond group using a radical can be carried out as follows.
After replacing the water of the cellulose nanofiber aqueous dispersion with an organic solvent such as dimethylformamide, dimethylacetamide, or dimethylsulfoxide in which cellulose nanofibers can be dispersed, organic peroxides such as benzoyl peroxide and unsaturated double bond groups After mixing with the polyorganosiloxane and heat-reacting in an inert atmosphere, the cellulose nanofibers are collected and purified from the liquid using centrifugation or the like. At this time, in order to promote the solubility of the polyorganosiloxane having an unsaturated double bond group in the reaction solution, an organic solvent which dissolves the polyorganosiloxane well such as toluene can be used in combination. Any appropriate concentration can be adopted as the concentration of cellulose nanofibers in the organic solvent as long as the solution does not gel. The concentration of the cellulose nanofiber in the organic solvent is preferably 0.1% by weight to 5% by weight, more preferably 0.2% by weight to 4% by weight, and still more preferably 0.3% by weight to 3% by weight. If the concentration is less than 0.1% by weight, the production efficiency may be insufficient.
As the polyorganosiloxane having an unsaturated double bond group, a polyorganosiloxane having a (meth) acryloyl group or a vinyl group at one end of the molecular chain can be appropriately used. Such polyorganosiloxanes are commercially available. The amount (mixing amount) of the polyorganosiloxane having an unsaturated double bond group is preferably 10% by weight to 150% by weight, more preferably 15% by weight to 120% by weight with respect to the cellulose nanofiber. More preferably, it is 20% by weight to 100% by weight. When the charged amount is less than 10% by weight, the bond amount of the polyorganosiloxane may be smaller than the desired amount. Even if the charged amount exceeds 150% by weight, the amount of polyorganosiloxane to be bonded does not change, so that it is not useful from the viewpoint of cost and the like.
Any appropriate organic peroxide can be used as the organic peroxide. For example, the organic peroxide can have a half hour temperature of 60 ° C to 120 ° C. Also, for example, the organic peroxide can be soluble in an organic solvent such as dimethylformamide, dimethylacetamide, dimethylsulfoxide. A commercial item can be used for the organic peroxide. The charge amount of the organic peroxide is preferably 10% by weight to 150% by weight, more preferably 15% by weight to 120% by weight, and further preferably 20% by weight to 100% by weight with respect to the cellulose nanofiber. %.
The reaction is performed by heating with stirring at a predetermined temperature for a predetermined time in an inert atmosphere. The reaction temperature (heating temperature) and reaction time can be appropriately selected according to the one-hour half-life temperature of the organic peroxide used. Reaction temperature becomes like this. Preferably it is 60 to 150 degreeC, More preferably, it is 65 to 125 degreeC, More preferably, it is 70 to 100 degreeC. The reaction time is preferably 2 hours to 12 hours, more preferably 3 hours to 10 hours, and further preferably 4 hours to 8 hours.
After the reaction, cellulose nanofibers are precipitated from the reaction solution by centrifugation, then re-dispersed in an organic solvent that dissolves polyorganosiloxanes such as toluene and hexane, and then centrifuged again. This operation is repeated several times to purify the cellulose nanofibers. Finally, purified cellulose nanofibers are re-dispersed in solvent-type or solvent-free type silicone to obtain a silicone having thixotropic properties.

<Evaluation of thixotropic properties>
According to the literature (Takanobu Ueda, “Iron and Steel”, Vol. 79 (1993) No. 11), using a Blockfield DV-III + rheometer, the viscosity at a rotational speed (shearing speed) of 50 rpm was measured in a 21 ° C. environment. Then, the viscosity at a rotational speed of 5 rpm was measured. A thixotropy index (TI = ηa / ηb) was calculated from the ratio of the viscosity value ηa at a rotational speed of 5 rpm and the viscosity value ηb at a rotational speed of 50 rpm (rounded off to the third decimal place), and used as an index of thixotropic properties.

<Analysis of Release Layer Using Energy Dispersive X-ray Spectrometer (EDS)>
The cross section of the release paper was cut out, elemental mapping of the cross section of the sample was performed using “EX-230 EDS” manufactured by JEOL, and the state of penetration of the release layer forming material into the paper was analyzed by examining the distribution of silicon in the cross section. The penetration state was evaluated as follows: the cross section of the sample cross section was divided into area 1, area 2, area 3, area 4 and area 5 in order from the application surface to the back surface with reference to the application surface side of the sample cross section. Then, the penetration state was evaluated by observing to which area the silicon was distributed.
The results of the analysis are shown in Table 1. When the TI is compared with the silicon distribution in the cross section, when the TI is small, silicon is distributed from the middle to the entire surface of the base paper, and the release agent-forming material is the base paper on the coated surface. It was found that it penetrated from the middle to the back. On the other hand, when TI was large, it was found that silicon was distributed at the upper part of the cross section of the base paper, and the release agent forming material remained at the upper part (application surface) of the paper. The thixotropy of the release agent forming material is considered to suppress the penetration of the release agent forming material into the paper.
<実施例1>
<Example 1>
A release paper using the release layer forming material 2 was produced and a peel test was performed. The results are shown in Table 1. The release layer was localized on the upper part (coated surface) of both glossy paper and kraft paper. In the simple peel test, the tape peeled off with a release paper using glossy paper with a very small peel force of 0.019 N, and peeled off with a weak force that could not be measured with the release paper using kraft paper. Even in a test conforming to JIS, it peeled off with a very small force of 0.0045N.
<比較例1>
<Comparative Example 1>
A release paper was prepared and a peel test was conducted in the same manner as in Example 1 except that the cellulose nanofiber-containing aqueous thickener (Rheocrystal I-2SX) was not used as the release layer forming material. The results are shown in Table 1. In both simple and JIS-compliant peel tests, the force to peel off the tape was greater than in Example 1. In particular, in the release paper using kraft paper, the base paper is destroyed, and it is considered that an effective release layer is not formed on the release paper surface. From the above results, it is suggested that the thixotropic property of the release layer forming material not only suppresses the penetration into the paper but also functions effectively in the formation of the release layer in a paper having a rough surface such as kraft paper.
<比較例2>
<Comparative example 2>
