Description
図1〜図5に示す第1混練機10と第2混練機20と繊維供給部30とを備えている実施例1の混練装置1を準備した。まず、第1混練機10について説明する。2本の混練軸11は、スクリュー11aのみが回転軸11bに組み込まれていた。有効長(L/D)は10であった。堰体14は、図3に示すように、2本の混練軸11のスクリュー11aのそれぞれの回転方向に沿う円弧状の開口部14aを4つ有していた。開口部14aの外側輪郭線14a1は、ダイ15側に位置するスクリュー11aの山11a1に沿った円弧であり、38mmであった。開口部14aの内側輪郭線14a2は、ダイ15側に位置するスクリュー11aの谷に沿った円弧であり、32mmであった。堰体14には、2つの貫通孔14bが形成されており、貫通孔14bのそれぞれに混練軸11のそれぞれの軸端部が挿通されて、堰体14によって軸端部が支持されていた。
比較例1の混練装置は、基本的には実施例1の混練装置1と同様であったが、堰体14が省略されていた点において異なっていた。比較例1の混練装置を用いて、比較例1の複合材料を製造した。
実施例1及び比較例1の混練装置により製造された複合材料に含有される繊維の繊維長、繊維の含浸性及び引張強度について調べた。
実施例1の複合材料の平均繊維長は22mmであり、十分開繊されており、引張強度は、230MPaであり、高い特性を有していた。一方、比較例1の複合材料の平均繊維長は26mmであり、開繊が十分でなく、引張強度は90MPaであり、欠陥が多かった。
Claims (8)
- 樹脂と複数本の連続した繊維とを導入し、前記繊維を裁断しながら前記樹脂と前記繊維とを混練して複合材料を製造する混練装置であって、
前記樹脂を導入するための樹脂供給口と、前記繊維を導入するための繊維供給口とを有する先端開口のシリンダと、
前記シリンダ内を回転することによって前記樹脂と前記繊維とを混練するスクリューを有する2本の混練軸と、
前記シリンダの先端部に配置され、前記スクリューの回転によって前記シリンダの先端部に向かって移動した前記複合材料を外部に排出する排出口を有するダイと、
前記シリンダの先端部と前記ダイとの間に配置され、前記混練軸のスクリューのうち、前記複合材料の流れに関して最下流に位置する部分との間に前記複合材料を充満させる充満部を形成する堰体とを備え、
前記堰体は、前記2本の混練軸のスクリューのそれぞれの回転軸線を中心とする円に沿う円弧状の開口部を複数有する、混練装置。 - 前記堰体の円弧状開口部の外側輪郭線は、前記スクリューの山の頂点に接する円に沿った円弧である、請求項1に記載の混練装置。
- 前記堰体の円弧状開口部の内側輪郭線は、前記スクリューの谷に接する円に沿った円弧である、請求項1または2に記載の混練装置。
- 第1混練機と、第2混練機とを備え、
前記第1混練機は、前記シリンダと前記2本の混練軸と前記ダイと前記堰体とを含み、
前記第2混練機は、前記第1混練機に導入される前記樹脂を、前記第1混練機内での前記繊維との混練に先立って、溶融する、請求項1〜3のいずれか1項に記載の混練装置。 - 前記開口部のそれぞれは、20mm以上50mm以下の長さの外側輪郭線を有する、請求項1〜4のいずれか1項に記載の混練装置。
- 前記堰体は、前記2本の混練軸の軸端部のそれぞれを挿通させることにより前記軸端部を支持する貫通孔をさらに有する、請求項1〜5のいずれか1項に記載の混練装置。
- 前記堰体の直前に位置する前記樹脂及び前記繊維の流路の横断面積に対する前記開口部の面積割合は、48%以上69%以下である、請求項6に記載の混練装置。
- 前記開口部は、前記2本の混練軸のそれぞれを中心として2つ以上ずつ形成されている、請求項1〜7のいずれか1項に記載の混練装置。
