Description
[0001]本出願は、参照によりその開示全体が本明細書に全体として組み込まれる「防水バリヤーを有する布地(Fabric Having a Waterproof Barrier)」という名称の、2014年9月12日に出願された米国仮特許出願第62/049,644号の優先権を主張する。
[0002]本明細書の実施形態は、アパレル及びスポーツ用品に関し、より詳細には、基布の外部に面する表面に疎水性の防水バリヤーを有する布地に関する。
[0003]防水布を含むアパレルは、典型的には、基布とこの基布に連結された親水性の防水膜とを含む。防水膜は、基布の外部に面する表面から基布の身体に面する表面に水が通過するのを防止し、この防水膜は、典型的には布地の身体に面する表面に連結される。防水膜は、皮膚に直接接触する場合にはユーザにとって不快になる可能性があり、水(発汗など)は内面に蓄積されて、布地をべた付いて湿った感触にする可能性がある。これは一般に、アパレルの最内層である裏打ち材料を付加することによって対処される。さらに、基布の外部に面する表面は水を吸収する可能性があり、びしょ濡れの外観を与え且つ基布の重量を増大させる。この懸念に対処するために、耐久性撥水剤コーティング又は化合物を、基布の外部に面する表面に付着させて、水玉形成効果を発揮させてもよいが、水はそれでも最終的には基布を飽和させる可能性がある。

[0065]実施例1:防水布を経た透湿度の試験
[0066]水蒸気透過試験は、水を含有するカップの最上部で布地試料が封止される装置でしばしば実施され、カップの重量を、時間の関数として重量測定によりモニタする。環境温度、相対湿度、及び試料を横断する空気流量を書き留める。典型的には、カップ及び環境は、同じ温度である。本発明の実施例において、カスタムメードの加熱カップホルダは、アルミ箔で裏打ちされた柔軟な加熱器を、カップのベースに巻き付けることによって構成した。カップは、Thwing−Albert Instrument Companyから得られ、EZ−カップバポメーター透過度カップ(EZ−Cup Vapometer Permeability Cup)、深さ2”(部品No.68−3000)であった。加熱器は、McMaster−Carrから得られ、超フレキシブル極薄熱シート(Super−Flexible Ultra−Thin Heat Sheet)、2”×10”(部品No.8009T12)を使用してカップを加熱した。カップ温度を、水位で、加熱されたカップホルダの内面に配置した、K型熱電対によってモニタした。水及び布地と共に完全に組み立てたカップを、環境チャンバ(ルネアテニーBTRC(Lunaire Tenney BTRC))内で、高いカップ温度で30分間平衡にし、その後、データ収集した。データは、質量対時間として、予熱されたカップから収集した。質量対時間のプロットの勾配を、布地面積によって正規化することにより、透湿度(WVTR)が得られる。カップは、試験中、直立した構成で保持した。各カップは、各試験の開始時に、80mLの脱イオンH2O(約1”充填)を含有しており、これを2.5時間存続させ、30分毎に測定した。外面のカップ温度を35.0℃に保ち、平衡後の水温は34.6〜34.9℃であり、環境温度は24.8±0.4℃であり、環境相対湿度は51.0±4.7%であり、空気流は、90秒の間隔で測定し、0〜59FPMの間で変化することがわかった。全ての試料を同じ試験条件の下に置いた。
[0069]図10は、本明細書に記述される防水布の一実施形態を試験した結果を示す。図10に示されるように、防水布は、従来の防水布と比較した場合、JIS L1099 B1 MVTR試験に関して35%の改善を示した(例えば、「透湿性」参照、試験布地である比較条件1(「正面としてのコーティング側」、透湿度(MVTR)が6,346g/m2/24時を示した)を、対照布地である条件2(「背面としてのコーティング側」、MVTRは4,712g/m2/24時を示した)と比較)。さらに、この試験で検査した防水布は、基布に付着されるウィッキング仕上げ剤を含んでおらず、したがって当業者なら、さらに大きな改善を示すため、そのようなウィッキング仕上げ剤を有する防水布を予測できるであろう。
Claims (17)
- 身体に面する表面及び外部に面する表面を有する基布と、
前記基布の前記外部に面する表面に配置された疎水性の防水バリヤーと、
前記基布及び前記疎水性の防水バリヤーの両方の、全厚を貫く縫い目と、
前記疎水性の防水バリヤーの、外部に面する表面上の、不連続の耐摩耗コーティングと、
前記疎水性の防水バリヤーの外部に面する表面に結合され、水の進入に対して縫い目を封止するように配向された、防水テープと
を備える防水布。 - 前記防水テープが前記耐摩耗コーティング上に付着され、前記防水テープが前記耐摩耗コーティングと前記疎水性の防水バリヤーとの両方に結合する、請求項1に記載の防水布。
- 前記耐摩耗コーティングが、前記防水布の表面積の15〜50%を覆う、請求項1に記載の防水布。
- 前記疎水性の防水バリヤーが着色されている、請求項1に記載の防水布。
- 前記耐摩耗コーティングがユーザに見える、請求項1に記載の防水布。
- 前記耐摩耗コーティングが着色されている、請求項5に記載の防水布。
- 前記耐摩耗コーティングが、ユーザによって認知可能なテクスチャを創出する、請求項5に記載の防水布。
- 前記疎水性の防水バリヤーの前記外部に面する表面に配置されたDWR剤をさらに含む、請求項1に記載の防水布。
- 前記耐摩耗コーティングの外部に面する表面に配置されたDWR剤をさらに含む、請求項1に記載の防水布。
- 前記疎水性の防水バリヤーが、プラスチックポリマー、ポリウレタン、ポリエチレン、ポリエステル、及び/又はポリテトラフルオロエチレンを含む、請求項1に記載の防水布。
- 前記耐摩耗コーティングが、高分子量ポリウレタンを含む、請求項1に記載の防水布。
- 前記基布がウィッキング生地である、請求項1に記載の防水布。
- 前記基布が、ウィッキングを強化する化合物で処理されている、請求項1に記載の防水布。
- 前記疎水性の防水バリヤーが、前記基布の外部に面する表面にコーティングされている、請求項1に記載の防水布。
- 前記疎水性の防水バリヤーが、前記基布の外部に面する表面にラミネートされている、請求項1に記載の防水布。
- 身体に面する表面及び外部に面する表面を有する基布を用意するステップと、
前記基布の前記外部に面する表面に、疎水性の防水バリヤーを配置し、それによって防水布を形成するステップと、
前記防水布を備えた物品を形成するステップであって、前記防水布の2つの部片間に縫い目を創出することを含む、物品を形成する前記ステップと、
前記疎水性の防水バリヤーの、外部に面する表面上に、耐摩耗コーティングを配置するステップであって、前記耐摩耗コーティングが、不連続であり且つ前記防水布の表面積の15〜50%を覆う前記ステップと、
前記疎水性の防水バリヤーの、外部に面する表面に、防水テープを結合させるステップであって、前記縫い目が覆われるように前記防水テープを位置合わせすることを含む、防水テープを結合させる前記ステップと
を含む、防水物品を作製する方法。 - 前記基布の前記外部に面する表面に、前記疎水性の防水バリヤーを配置する前記ステップが、前記基布の前記外部に面する表面を前記疎水性の防水バリヤーでコーティングすることを含む、請求項16に記載の方法。
