Description
The present invention relates to a method for manufacturing a pneumatic tire.
Usually, a tire has a bead on its side. The bead includes a core and an apex that extends radially outward from the core. The core is ring-shaped and includes a wound non-stretchable wire. A typical material for the wire is steel. The apex tapers radially outward. Apex contains a highly hard crosslinked rubber.
A drum is used in assembling the bead. A rubber band made of unvulcanized rubber for constituting the apex is wound around the drum. Thereby, an apex is formed. At this time, the apex is formed in a “sleeping” state on the outer periphery of the drum. The apex is then “standing up” with the apex bottom down. At this time, the bottom of the apex is joined to the core. Thereby, a bead is formed.
When the rubber band is wound around the drum, the starting end and the terminal end of the rubber band have an overlapping portion. This overlapping portion is called an apex joint. The start end and the end are crimped. The start end and the end are joined by applying pressure. In the bead, a “joint failure” may occur in which the joint is disconnected at the joint.
Japanese Patent Application Laid-Open No. 2014-100816 discloses a study of a bead assembly device that prevents a joint failure in a joint portion. In this apparatus, joint failure of the joint portion due to the rubber band being spirally wound on the drum is suppressed.
Furthermore, it is required to reduce the defective rate of joint failure in the joint portion. As described above, the apex is “standing” after it has been “laid down” on the outer periphery of the drum. In the state in which the apex is laid down, the circumference of the apex bottom portion and the circumference of the apex tip are substantially the same as the outer circumference of the drum. When the apex is raised, the peripheral length of the tip of the apex becomes longer than the outer peripheral length of the drum. A large pulling force works near the tip. For this reason, in the vicinity of the tip of the apex, joint failure of the joint portion is likely to occur compared to the vicinity of the bottom. Preventing joint failure in the vicinity of the apex tip is important for further reducing the defect rate.
In order to reduce the bonding failure of the joint portion, a method of enlarging the overlapping portion between the start end and the end end of the rubber band can be considered. However, this increases the thickness of the joint. This exacerbates tire uniformity. This further increases material costs.
An object of the present invention is to provide a method for manufacturing a tire in which good uniformity is maintained and joint failure of an apex joint portion is prevented.
The present invention relates to a method for manufacturing a tire having a bead on its side portion. This manufacturing method includes a step of obtaining the bead, a step of obtaining a low cover by combining the bead and other components, and a step of obtaining a tire by pressurizing and heating the raw cover. Including. The process of obtaining the bead includes a step of preparing a rubber band made of uncrosslinked rubber for constituting an apex, a step of winding the rubber band around a drum to form an apex, A step in which the joint portion is holed with a needle, and a step in which the apex and the core are joined.
Preferably, there are two positions where the joint portion is holed.
Preferably, the outer diameter of the needle is 1.5 mm or greater and 5.0 mm or less, and the shape of the needle is tapered toward the tip.
Preferably, in the radial direction, a distance Vh between the outer end of the hole provided during the holing and the outer end of the apex is 5.0 mm or greater and 15.0 mm or less.
Preferably, the apex includes a first layer and a second layer extending radially outward from the first layer, and the hardness of the second layer is lower than the hardness of the first layer, The above holing is applied to the second layer.
Preferably, the moving speed of the needle during the holing is 2 cm / sec or more and 15 cm / sec or less.
In the tire manufacturing method according to the present invention, in the process of obtaining a bead, the joint part of the apex is holed with a needle. This increases the joint strength of the joint portion. In this bead, poor bonding is prevented even near the tip of the apex. This method does not increase the thickness of the joint. In this tire, excellent uniformity is maintained.

In step S4, the

In the process of obtaining the
Hereinafter, the function and effect of the present invention will be described.
In forming the bead, the apex is formed on the outer periphery of the drum in a “laid-down” state. In this state, the peripheral length of the apex tip portion is substantially the same as the outer peripheral length of the drum. The apex is then raised. At this time, the circumference at the apex portion of the apex is longer than the outer circumference of the drum. A large pulling force works at the tip. For this reason, in the vicinity of the tip of the apex, joint failure of the joint portion is likely to occur compared to the vicinity of the bottom.
In order to reduce the bonding failure of the joint portion, a method of enlarging the overlapping portion between the start end and the end end of the rubber band can be considered. However, this increases the thickness of the joint. This exacerbates tire uniformity. This further increases material costs.
The method for manufacturing the
In FIG. 1, a double-headed arrow Ah is a height from the outer end of the core 12 to the outer end of the apex 14 (
Furthermore, this method does not increase the thickness of the

The outer diameter D is preferably 5.0 mm or less. By setting the outer diameter D to 5.0 mm or less, the hole after removing the holing

In FIG. 7, symbol α is an angle formed by the
As described above, the
