Description
The technology disclosed herein relates to an exhaust device for an engine with a turbocharger.
Patent Document 1 discloses a first bypass that has an open / close valve configured to open and close according to a supercharging pressure as an exhaust device of a reciprocating engine with a turbocharger and bypasses a turbine of the turbocharger. The structure provided with the 2nd bypass path which has a control valve which opens and closes according to a catalyst temperature according to a catalyst temperature is described. In this exhaust device, when the catalyst temperature is low, the control valve is opened to bypass the turbine through the second bypass passage so that the exhaust gas flows through the catalyst. As a result, a relatively high temperature exhaust gas that avoids a temperature drop due to passing through the turbine flows through the catalyst, and the temperature of the catalyst can be increased.
In
In an engine with a turbocharger, the temperature of the exhaust gas after passing through the turbine becomes low, so it becomes difficult to promote the activation of the catalyst when the catalyst arranged downstream of the turbine is inactive. There is an inconvenience.
On the other hand, for example, a variable capacity turbocharger equipped with a variable vane for the purpose of improving a supercharging response in a low rotation range, a turbocharger having a movable device has a high temperature of exhaust gas flowing in. If it passes, reliability will fall. However, if the temperature of the inflowing exhaust gas is lowered, the temperature of the exhaust gas after passing through the turbine is further lowered, so that there is a disadvantage that the activation of the catalyst becomes more difficult.
The technology disclosed herein has been made in view of such a point, and an object thereof is to enable activation of a catalyst when the catalyst is inactive in an engine with a turbocharger. .
The technology disclosed herein relates to an exhaust device for an engine with a turbocharger, the exhaust device being provided in an engine having a plurality of cylinders and configured to exhaust exhaust gas from each of the plurality of cylinders. An exhaust port, an exhaust passage configured to connect to the exhaust port, a turbine of a turbocharger disposed in the exhaust passage and configured to be driven by energy of the exhaust gas, and the exhaust And a catalyst disposed downstream of the turbine in the passage and configured to purify the exhaust gas.
The engine is configured such that an opening period of an exhaust port corresponding to each cylinder partially overlaps between two cylinders adjacent to each other in the exhaust order among the plurality of cylinders. A plurality of cylinders are provided, and the exhaust passage includes a first passage connected to the turbine and a second passage connected to the catalyst by bypassing the turbine; Since the one passage has a cooling structure for reducing the temperature of the exhaust gas flowing through the first passage, the temperature of the exhaust gas flowing through the second passage is changed to the exhaust gas flowing through the first passage. is configured to be higher than the temperature in the exhaust passage, wherein the upstream of the turbine in the first passage, aperture limiting a movable exhaust gas amount flowing into the turbine Is provided, at the time of non-activity of at least the catalyst, while limiting the amount of exhaust gas flowing into the turbine by squeezing the movable diaphragm, wherein the second passage, the valve opening when not the activity of the catalyst On the other hand, an on-off valve is provided that closes when the catalyst is active.
Furthermore, the turbocharger has a variable vane having a vane angle in a range from a predetermined first angle to a predetermined second angle larger than the first angle according to an operating state of the running engine. A variable capacity turbocharger configured to be changed, wherein the movable throttle is the variable vane, and the variable vane has a vane angle smaller than the first angle when the catalyst is inactive. On the other hand, when the catalyst is active, the vane angle is set to the first angle or more.
Further, in the exhaust passage, the first passage is connected to at least one of the plurality of exhaust ports in each cylinder, and remains independent without gathering between different cylinders in which the exhaust order is adjacent. While being connected to the turbine, the second passage is connected to another exhaust port in each cylinder, and the exhaust sequence is gathered between different cylinders adjacent to each other to bypass the turbine and the catalyst It is configured to be connected to.
According to this configuration, the exhaust passage includes the first passage connected to the turbine of the turbocharger and the second passage connected to the catalyst by bypassing the turbine, and the first passage includes the exhaust gas. It has a cooling structure that lowers the temperature. Various configurations can be adopted for the cooling structure. The temperature of the exhaust gas flowing into the turbine of the turbocharger through the first passage is relatively low. The turbocharger is provided with a movable throttle, that is, a movable device, on the upstream side of the turbine, but the temperature of the exhaust gas flowing into the turbine is lowered, so that the reliability of the turbocharger is increased.
As the temperature of the exhaust gas flowing into the turbine decreases, the temperature of the exhaust gas passing through the turbine and flowing into the catalyst can further decrease. In the above configuration, when the catalyst is inactive, the amount of exhaust gas flowing into the turbine is limited by restricting the movable throttle. The limitation here includes not only reducing the amount of exhaust gas flowing into the turbine but also substantially prohibiting exhaust gas from flowing into the turbine. In this way, as a result of limiting the amount of exhaust gas flowing into the turbine, the amount of exhaust gas flowing through the first passage is reduced, or the exhaust gas does not flow through the first passage, so that the amount of exhaust gas flowing through the second passage is correspondingly reduced. Increase. The second passage is configured such that the temperature of the exhaust gas flowing therethrough is higher than the temperature of the exhaust gas flowing through the first passage, and the second passage is connected to the catalyst bypassing the turbine. Therefore, a large amount of exhaust gas having a relatively high temperature can be directly flowed to the catalyst. Thus, in an engine with a turbocharger, activation of the catalyst can be promoted when the catalyst is inactive .
Further, in the variable capacity turbocharger, by reducing the angle of the variable vane, the flow velocity of the exhaust gas flowing into the turbine is increased, and the supercharging response mainly in the low rotation range is increased. On the other hand, by increasing the angle of the variable vane, the flow velocity of the exhaust gas flowing into the turbine is reduced, and the supercharging efficiency mainly in the high rotation range is increased. In the variable capacity turbocharger, the angle of the variable vane is changed from a predetermined first angle to a predetermined second angle in accordance with the operating state of the engine during vehicle travel.
In the above configuration, when the catalyst is inactive, the angle of the variable vane is set to be smaller than the first angle that is the minimum angle in the operating state of the running engine, whereby the exhaust gas flows into the turbine. This is substantially prevented. As a result, most of the exhaust gas discharged from the cylinder can flow to the catalyst through the second passage (where the on-off valve is open). This promotes catalyst activation and allows for early activation of the catalyst.
In general, variable capacity turbochargers are set so that the maximum temperature at which they can be used is lower than that of a normal turbocharger that does not have variable vanes. Since the temperature of the exhaust gas flowing in the connected first passage is relatively low due to the cooling structure of the first passage, the reliability of the variable capacity turbocharger can be improved.
The on-off valve, the is configured to open and close in response to the boost pressure of the turbocharger may be.
When the opening / closing valve of the second passage is closed, the entire amount of exhaust gas discharged from the cylinder or much of the exhaust gas can be sent to the turbine through the first passage. As a result, sufficient exhaust energy can be ensured, so that the turbocharger efficiency can be improved and a desired boost pressure can be obtained.
When the opening / closing valve of the second passage is opened, a part of the exhaust gas discharged from the cylinder flows through the second passage and bypasses the turbine. Therefore, when the turbocharging pressure of the turbocharger is high, it is possible to avoid that the supercharging pressure becomes too high by opening the on-off valve of the second passage. If the on-off valve is controlled to open and close so that the supercharging pressure of the turbocharger does not exceed a predetermined supercharging pressure, the on-off valve can function as a so-called wastegate valve. .
When the catalyst is inactive, the on-off valve is opened. Thereby, in combination with narrowing the movable throttle, at least a part of the exhaust gas discharged from the cylinder is not cooled while flowing through the first passage, and the temperature is lowered by the passage of the turbine. Without reaching, the catalyst reaches the catalyst through the second passage. Thus, when the catalyst is inactive, it becomes possible to flow exhaust gas having a relatively high temperature through the catalyst, so that the activation can be promoted.
The first passage may communicate with an EGR passage configured to recirculate a part of the exhaust gas to the intake side of the engine.
Since the first passage has no on-off valve, the exhaust gas can be taken out from the first passage and recirculated to the intake side without being restricted by the open / close state of the on-off valve.
The EGR passage is provided with an EGR cooler configured to cool the exhaust gas recirculated to the intake side, and the exhaust passage communicates with the EGR passage and also passes through the EGR cooler. The exhaust gas may further include a third passage that bypasses the turbine and flows to the catalyst.
As described above, the temperature of the exhaust gas flowing through the first passage is relatively low due to the cooling structure. Therefore, the above configuration is advantageous in returning low-temperature exhaust gas to the intake side in a configuration in which an EGR cooler is provided in the EGR passage.
Further, by providing a third passage through which the exhaust gas after passing through the EGR cooler flows to the catalyst bypassing the turbine, a relatively high temperature exhaust gas flows through the second passage, and the third passage Through the exhaust gas cooled by the EGR cooler. Further, exhaust gas having a relatively low temperature after passing through the turbine through the first passage also flows. This avoids the catalyst temperature becoming too high. This improves the reliability and durability of the catalyst.
Further, the catalyst temperature becomes high when the operating state of the engine is in the high rotation and / or high load operation region, and therefore, the EGR gas is not recirculated or hardly performed. Therefore, the exhaust gas cooled by the EGR cooler can be passed through the catalyst without being recirculated to the intake side.
A plurality of the exhaust ports are provided in each of the plurality of cylinders, and the exhaust passage is connected to at least one of the plurality of exhaust ports in each cylinder and is assembled between different cylinders. And a separate passage connected to the turbine in a state independent of the collective passage, and connected to the other exhaust ports in each cylinder. The independent passage may constitute the first passage, and the collecting passage may constitute the second passage.
According to this configuration, the first passage constituted by the independent passage and the second passage constituted by the collective passage are provided independently for each cylinder, the first passage is provided to the turbine, and the second passage is provided to the turbine. Is connected to the catalyst. That is, the exhaust passage is separated into two systems, that is, an independent passage and a collecting passage. This makes it easy to provide a difference between the temperature of the exhaust gas flowing through the independent passage and the temperature of the exhaust gas flowing through the collecting passage.
The configuration of the exhaust device having the independent passage and the collecting passage may be applied to an exhaust device of a rotary piston engine, for example. That is, in a so-called side exhaust type rotary piston engine in which an exhaust port is opened in a side housing (including an intermediate housing disposed between the rotor and the rotor) constituting the rotor accommodating chamber, one cylinder is used. However, it is possible to provide at least two exhaust ports independently of each other on each side of the rotor. Therefore, if an independent passage is connected to one of the exhaust ports and a collective passage is connected to the other exhaust port, an exhaust system in which the exhaust passage is separated into two systems, an independent passage and a collective passage, is compared. It can be configured easily.
Here, if the independent passage is connected to the turbine without being gathered between a plurality of cylinders, it is sent to the turbine while maintaining the energy of the exhaust gas as high as possible without causing exhaust interference or the like. It becomes possible. This is advantageous for improving the efficiency of the turbocharger. The configuration is not limited to that in which exhaust interference or the like does not occur between a plurality of cylinders, but may be a configuration in which it is difficult to occur. For example, a configuration in which the passages are independent in the scroll of the turbine may be adopted, but in addition to this, a plurality of passages are merged immediately upstream of the scroll of the turbine, and the exhaust gas is contained in the scroll of the single passage. You may employ | adopt the structure which flows in. Furthermore, exhaust interference may be made difficult to occur by arranging a plurality of passages adjacent to each other and merging them in a state in which the flow directions of the exhaust gas are made to coincide with each other.
The on-off valve is closed when the operation state of the engine is in a predetermined low rotation range when the catalyst is active, and the exhaust order of the plurality of cylinders is adjacent to each other by closing the on-off valve. It may be configured to avoid communication between two cylinders.
As described above, according to the exhaust system for an engine with a turbocharger, the exhaust passage has a first passage connected to the turbine of the turbocharger and a second passage that bypasses the turbine and reaches the catalyst. The temperature of the exhaust gas flowing through the first passage is relatively low and the temperature of the exhaust gas flowing through the second passage is relatively high due to the cooling structure, and the catalyst is not activated. Sometimes, by restricting the movable throttle upstream of the turbine of the turbocharger and restricting the inflow of exhaust gas to the turbine, the exhaust gas passing through the turbine is reduced, and the exhaust gas having a relatively high temperature flows through the catalyst. The activation of the catalyst can be promoted when the catalyst is inactive.

As described above, in the rotary engine 1 of the two-rotor type, each cylinder (that is, the
The
The
The
An opening /
The
Note that the heat retaining structure is not limited to a heat insulating structure using a double pipe. Further, the temperature of the exhaust gas flowing through the
The
Here, the characteristics of the turbocharger attached to the rotary engine will be described. FIG. 3A shows the characteristics of the turbocharger attached to the rotary engine, and FIG. 3B shows the characteristics when the same turbocharger is attached to the reciprocating engine. First, the alternate long and short dash line in FIG. 3 (b) indicates the intercept point at which the waste gate valve is opened. In the reciprocating engine, the waste gate valve is closed in the low rotation range below the intercept point. Is higher than the turbine front back pressure indicated by a broken line in FIG. On the other hand, in the middle rotation range to the high rotation range exceeding the intercept point, the turbine front back pressure becomes higher than the boost pressure as the wastegate valve opens to limit the boost pressure. By opening the wastegate valve, the turbine front back pressure decreases, but the supercharging pressure decreases more than that.
In the turbocharger attached to the rotary engine, as shown in FIG. 3 (a), the supercharging pressure indicated by the solid line in the figure is lower in the low rotation range below the intercept point at which the wastegate valve is closed. It becomes higher than the turbine front back pressure indicated by the broken line in the figure. This is the same as a reciprocating engine. On the other hand, in the middle to high rotation range exceeding the intercept point, although the wastegate valve is opened to limit the supercharging pressure, the supercharging pressure is maintained higher than the turbine front back pressure. This is considered to be because the valve opening characteristics of the exhaust port are different as described below.
FIG. 4 compares the angle change of the opening area of the exhaust port in the rotary engine (change in the eccentric angle of the eccentric shaft 6) and the angle change of the lift amount of the poppet valve that opens and closes the exhaust port in the reciprocating engine (change in the crank angle). doing. FIG. 4 is a diagram for comparing the change characteristics of the opening state of the exhaust port with respect to the progress of the angle. The scale of the vertical axis is not the same between the rotary engine and the reciprocating engine, and the scale of the horizontal axis is also different from that of the rotary engine. It is not necessarily the same as the reciprocating engine. First, in a reciprocating engine that opens and closes an exhaust port by a vertical movement of a poppet valve, the lift amount gradually increases when the exhaust port is opened. On the other hand, in the rotary engine, as is apparent from FIG. 1, the
Returning to the exhaust system of FIG. 2, the EGR system 9 is disposed on the downstream side of the

The
先ず、触媒が未活性のときには、AWS(Accelerated Warm−up System)を実行することにより触媒の活性化を図る。
Next, the flow of exhaust gas in the exhaust device having this configuration will be described. First, when the catalyst is inactive, the catalyst is activated by executing AWS (Accelerated Warm-up System). During the execution of the AWS, the amount of exhaust gas flowing through the
Thus, while the angle of the
After the activation of the catalyst and the completion of AWS, the
The
Since the
In the middle to high rotation range exceeding the intercept point, the
After the end of AWS, the relatively low temperature exhaust gas after passing through the
The
When the operating state of the rotary engine 1 is in a high rotation and / or high load region, the temperature of the
In the operation state where the temperature of the

The configuration of the
The first and second
Further, during traveling, the angle of the
Each of the first and second
The
In the exhaust system having this configuration, when the catalyst is inactive in the AWS, the
After the catalyst is activated and the AWS is finished, the
In the middle to high rotation range exceeding the intercept point, the
Further, when the temperature of the

FIG. 6 conceptually shows another configuration example of the exhaust device of the turbocharger-equipped rotary engine 1. The same components as those in the exhaust device shown in FIGS. 2 and 5 are denoted by the same reference numerals, and the description thereof may be omitted. The exhaust device shown in FIG. 6 includes two variable capacity turbochargers, similar to the exhaust device shown in FIG. 5, but only the primary

On the other hand, in the high rotation range (this high rotation range corresponds to a high rotation range set to operate the primary
