Description
まず、図1に基づいてエンジン制御システム全体の概略構成を説明する。
内燃機関であるエンジン11の吸気管12(吸気通路)の最上流部には、エアクリーナ13が設けられ、このエアクリーナ13の下流側に、吸入空気量を検出するエアフローメータ14が設けられている。このエアフローメータ14の下流側には、モータ15によって開度調節されるスロットルバルブ16と、このスロットルバルブ16の開度(スロットル開度)を検出するスロットル開度センサ17とが設けられている。
燃料改質触媒36の温度が低いときに、EGR開度が小さいと、燃料改質触媒36に供給される酸素量が減少して炭素の燃焼による発熱量が減少するため、燃料改質触媒36の温度が低下し過ぎて、触媒再生制御の終了後の燃料改質触媒36の燃料改質率が低下してしまう可能性がある(図4の破線A参照)。
燃料改質触媒36の温度が高いときに、EGR開度が大きいと、燃料改質触媒36に供給される酸素量が増加して炭素の燃焼による発熱量が増加するため、燃料改質触媒36の温度が上昇し過ぎて、燃料改質触媒36が熱劣化してしまう可能性がある(図4の破線B参照)。
更に、本実施例では、燃料改質触媒36の炭素堆積量が多いほどEGR開度を増加させる処理と燃料改質触媒36の炭素堆積量が多いほどスロットル開度を増加させる処理を行うようにしている。
ところで、燃料カットの終了前に燃料改質触媒36の燃料改質性能が回復する場合もある。このような場合、図5に破線で示すように、燃料カット中に燃料改質触媒36の燃料改質性能が回復した後も、EGRバルブ34及びスロットルバルブ16を開弁状態に維持すると、EGR配管32や排気管23に新気が流れ続けるため、燃料改質触媒36が冷却されて燃料改質触媒36の温度が低下して、燃料カット終了後(燃料噴射再開後)の燃料改質触媒36の燃料改質率が低下してしまう可能性がある。
図6に示す触媒再生制御ルーチンは、ECU37の電源オン期間中(イグニッションスイッチのオン期間中)に所定周期で繰り返し実行され、特許請求の範囲でいう触媒再生制御手段としての役割を果たす。
図7に示すスロットル開度補正量KT1 のマップを参照して、燃料改質触媒36の温度に応じたスロットル開度補正量KT1 を算出すると共に、図7に示すEGR開度補正量KE1 のマップを参照して、燃料改質触媒36の温度に応じたEGR開度補正量KE1 を算出する。
Claims (8)
- 内燃機関(11)に供給される主燃料を噴射する主燃料噴射手段(21)と、
前記内燃機関(11)の吸入空気量を調節するスロットルバルブ(16)と、
前記内燃機関(11)の排気通路(23)から排出ガスの一部をEGRガスとして吸気通路(12)へ還流させるEGR通路(32)及び前記EGRガスの流量を調節するEGRバルブ(34)と、
前記EGR通路(32)内に改質用燃料を噴射する改質用燃料噴射手段(35)と、
前記EGR通路(32)に配置されて前記改質用燃料噴射手段(35)により噴射された改質用燃料を改質する燃料改質触媒(36)とを備えた内燃機関の燃料改質装置において、
所定の燃料カット実行条件が成立したときに、前記主燃料及び前記改質用燃料の噴射を停止する燃料カットを実行すると共に前記EGRバルブ(34)及び前記スロットルバルブ(16)を開弁状態に維持することで前記燃料改質触媒(36)に新気を供給して該燃料改質触媒(36)の燃料改質性能を回復させる触媒再生制御を行う触媒再生制御手段(37)を備えていることを特徴とする内燃機関の燃料改質装置。 - 前記触媒再生制御手段(37)は、前記触媒再生制御の際に前記燃料改質触媒(36)の状態に応じて前記EGRバルブ(34)の開度と前記スロットルバルブ(16)の開度のうちの少なくとも一方を調整することを特徴とする請求項1に記載の内燃機関の燃料改質装置。
- 前記触媒再生制御手段(37)は、前記燃料改質触媒(36)の状態として該燃料改質触媒(36)の温度と炭素堆積量のうちの少なくとも一方を推定又は検出することを特徴とする請求項2に記載の内燃機関の燃料改質装置。
- 前記触媒再生制御手段(37)は、前記燃料改質触媒(36)の温度が低いほど前記EGRバルブ(34)の開度を増加させる処理と前記燃料改質触媒(36)の温度が低いほど前記スロットルバルブ(16)の開度を減少させる処理のうちの少なくとも一方を行うことを特徴とする請求項3に記載の内燃機関の燃料改質装置。
- 前記触媒再生制御手段(37)は、前記燃料改質触媒(36)の温度又は温度上昇速度が所定値を越えたときに前記EGRバルブ(34)の開度を減少させる処理と前記スロットルバルブ(16)の開度を増加させる処理のうちの少なくとも一方を行うことを特徴とする請求項3又は4に記載の内燃機関の燃料改質装置。
- 前記触媒再生制御手段(37)は、前記燃料改質触媒(36)の炭素堆積量が多いほど前記EGRバルブ(34)の開度を増加させる処理と前記燃料改質触媒(36)の炭素堆積量が多いほど前記スロットルバルブ(16)の開度を増加させる処理のうちの少なくとも一方を行うことを特徴とする請求項3乃至5のいずれかに記載の内燃機関の燃料改質装置。
- 前記触媒再生制御手段(37)は、前記燃料カットの終了前に前記燃料改質触媒(36)の燃料改質性能が回復したと判定した場合、その時点で前記EGRバルブ(34)を閉弁する処理と前記スロットルバルブ(16)を閉弁する処理のうちの少なくとも一方を行うことを特徴とする請求項1乃至6のいずれかに記載の内燃機関の燃料改質装置。
- 前記触媒再生制御手段(37)は、前記燃料改質触媒(36)の燃料改質性能が回復したか否かを、前記触媒再生制御の開始後に前記燃料改質触媒(36)の温度が下降に転じたか否か又は前記触媒再生制御の開始後に前記燃料改質触媒(36)に供給された新気量から求めた触媒再生量が所定値以上になったか否かによって判定することを特徴とする請求項7に記載の内燃機関の燃料改質装置。
