Claims (7)
- 患者(46)内に埋込まれた刺激リード(12)に電気信号を伝達することができ且つ前記電気信号の伝達に応答して電気パラメータを測定することができる刺激デバイス(14)と共に使用するための外部制御デバイス(18)であって、
前記刺激デバイス(14)と通信するように構成された遠隔測定回路(136)と、
前記測定された電気パラメータを前記刺激デバイス(14)から前記遠隔測定回路(136)を介して受信し、前記測定された電気パラメータに基づいて、前記刺激リード(12)が埋込まれている解剖学的領域を複数の異なる解剖学的領域のうちから決定し、前記決定された解剖学的領域に従って、前記刺激デバイスによって提供されるある種類の治療用の刺激を有効にするように構成されたプロセッサ(130)と、
前記治療用の刺激に従って電気刺激エネルギを前記刺激リードから伝達するために、前記刺激デバイス(14)を前記遠隔測定回路(136)を介して指示するように構成されたコントローラ(130)と、を含む外部制御デバイス(18)。 - 前記プロセッサ(130)は、更に、前記測定された電気パラメータを複数の閾値範囲と比較し、前記比較に基づいて前記複数の異なる解剖学的領域から1つの解剖学的領域を決定するように構成される、請求項1に記載の外部制御デバイス(18)。
- 前記異なる解剖学的領域は、脊髄硬膜外腔及び末梢神経領域を含む、請求項2に記載の外部制御デバイス(18)。
- 前記測定された電気パラメータは、組織インピーダンスを指示し、前記複数の閾値範囲のうちの第1の閾値範囲は、比較的低く、前記複数の閾値範囲のうちの第2の閾値範囲は、比較的高く、
前記プロセッサ(130)は、前記組織インピーダンスが前記第1の閾値範囲にあれば、前記解剖学的領域が脊髄硬膜外腔であるように前記解剖学的領域を決定し、組織インピーダンスが前記第2の閾値範囲にあれば、前記解剖学的領域が末梢組織領域であるように前記解剖学的領域を決定するように構成される、請求項3に記載の外部制御デバイス(18)。 - 前記ある種類の治療用の刺激を有効にすることは、前記治療用の刺激を行う電極の組合せを有効にすることを含む、請求項1に記載の外部制御デバイス(18)。
- 更に、ユーザインタフェースを含み、前記ユーザインタフェースは、患者(46)の異なる解剖学的領域にそれぞれ対応する複数の異なるプログラム用スクリーン(150a,150b)を表示し、前記決定された解剖学的領域に対応する複数のプログラム用スクリーン(150a,150b)のうちの1つを選択し、ユーザが、前記選択されたプログラム用スクリーン(150a,150b)を使用して刺激パラメータを定めることを可能にするように構成される、請求項1に記載の外部制御デバイス(18)。
- 前記プロセッサ(130)は、更に、前記測定された電気パラメータに基づいて前記複数の異なる解剖学的領域に対する確信度を計算するように構成され、
前記ユーザインタフェース(126)は、更に、前記異なる解剖学的領域及びそれに対応する計算された確信度を識別する情報をユーザに伝達し、ユーザが、計算された確信度に基づいて前記刺激リードの形態位置の確認または変化を選択することを可能にするように構成される、請求項6に記載の外部制御デバイス(18)。
